As topic, it's a new policy adopted by ICS.

I have two kids and going to send both to ICS in the future. However, $190,000 is really NOT a small amount. is there any parents wanna change your mind?

I'm quite upset as ICS is our dream school with good reputation. however for two kids, $320,000 ($130,000 for the second kid) is definately a large amount, and the main point is THAT IS NON-REFUNDABLE.

i was also v. shocked last wk when i rec'd the news. ICS is our dream school since my pregnancy and we had submitted the application when our boy was only 3-4 months old.

i ve done a rough estimation n found that including the non-refundable debenture, the total amount of school fee (not counting other expenses) spent on school fee for 15 yrs education will be around 1.4 M (http://forum.edu-kingdom.com/viewthread.php?tid=2182191&extra=page%3D1). my other worry was there was a substantial increase on the debenture from HK$60,000 to HK$190,000 in 2008. I fully understand the reason for the drastic increase in the debenture and school fee, but I cannot foresee how rapid the rate will be in the coming years. the freq. big jump was indeed quite worrying.

But my husband reminded me that, "It is a matter of "core value". Isn't a very strong spiritual background and a biblical integreted curriculum our main target?.............."

HI bakusensei, 我想你也是基督徒吧，我女兒正讀ICS，對我D打工仔來說，ICS學費真係超貴，不過我個女個老師真係好好，好有心，ICS KINDER 的課程係用聖經做Theme的，我諗無一間學校會係咁的，好似講挪亞就教埋彩虹的顏色。。。，相信對女兒係最好的，上帝的恩典夠我地用嘛！

Not just the new families are upset of the new debenture program; the present ICS families are upset, too, though it does not affect the present ICS families. We do, we really do and care but we could do nothing to help. ICS will loose the wholly hearted ICS families to join us.

i think the more important pt is whether kids from ICS will be granted an interview chance for RC (at least in the first round).

my colleague, a parent from ESF kinder (K1), told me that when they questioned the insufficient seats at G1 to cater the newly opened WKS ESF kinder, the ESF kinder principal informed them RC has reserved seats for ESF kinder students.

my fd whose boy is in Think still hasn't got the chance for interview in KJS, nor RC.

u may wish to check that w/ RC parents n non-esf applicants of RC this yr.

hope u find the solution.

I don't think this school worth the money. some of Their teachers in primary and secondary are very inexperienced or some are quite old.

Academically they are not good at all. Can you imagine having no science experiments to do in Science lessons? Learning Science like History!! Math teacher always calculated the wrong math.

Many secondary students have left and are planning to leave. Recently several students take drugs and were forced to leave the school........... really not worth the money. It's totally different from years ago.

睇到段新聞覺得很失望,ICS曾是我的dream school,以前聽聞佢以聖經教導和品德行先,學業成績又好,覺得此校很理想.點知而家变得很重$$$$$$$$,而且見過一個由ICS被踢出校的小朋友,他說自己Eng差,故被請離校,セ學校唔係要教好每個學生,將學生不足之處提升的嗎?汰弱留強算甚麼好學校.
本人所見那小朋友很有禮貌,但被ics請離校相信令他自信心大失.

Any mummy or daddy has contacted ICS for clarification on the information provided by HarryPotter and wwcuy?

ICS should have a viable financial planning for the construction of the new site at Shek Mun. Sharp increase in or changing the rule of the game for the debenture is not persuasive if the information from the news on funding the school's infrastructure is correct. If that is the case, can those parents whose kids have been accepted this year "negotiate" with ICS for lowering the debenture and cancelling the rule of depreciation?

Know from the existing student parents, school is now reviewing the debenture policy. May be that's why we don't get the formal acceptance letter.

By the way, Natma, did you receive the acceptance letter yet ? or just inform by email from ICS ?

I received confirmation e-mail. I also talked to ICS and was informed that confirmation letter should have been sent out early this week.

I am looking forward to hearing the good news from ICS on the debenture arrangment.

I received the confirmation letter from ICS by mail today.  We are so disappointed that they stick with the depreciation debenture program!!

It is totally unfair for the families enrolling kids for the first time beginning in the 2010-11 academic year. As we know from our friend who have kid  now studying in the ICS kinder, all of their R2 students whose got the offer for the Pregrade 1 could waive the depreciation debenture program after their "GROUP NEGOTIATION.  Their 190,000 is refundable. What could we do now???

ICS is our dream school, however we are frustrated by their varies policies on the debenture program 59,000 to 190,000 refundable to 190,000 depreciation... what's next????  Can anyone share your thought?

So again, for those parents whose kids have been accepted, do you agree with the sugegstion on group negotiation? If yes, what is our plan then?

PS: Shall we stick with this topic, i.e. "ICS~ $190,000 non-refundable Debenture" in our future chating on ICS debenture issues as it has the highest reading rate among the 3?

I totally agree with you. The main concern of that program is why at the same class of P1, there are two group of students that are under different debenture program. If the debenture is non-refundable, which means that our shcool fee is expensive than the others, should we have the priority to use the school facilities like library, swimming pool, parking space? Sure is not. Then why our school fee should expensive than the others?

We think we will accept the offer because expcept the depreciating debenture, ICS is really a good school regarding discipline and academic aspect.

How do you think Natma?

As far as I understand, you have to accept the final decision of the board on the new debenture program once you have paid the deposit.

Hi everyone,

We didn't heard that before. Will your kids enter the PG1 by coming Aug?? As we know, the depreciating debenture system is not confirm yet, we can still try our best to express ourselves to ICS. I did pay the deposit already but we also made the complain to ICS about the new debenture system. ICS replied last week that they will have a Board Meeting tomorrow and will let us know their final decision then. The dealine for the payment of debenture can be extended.

The kinder parents were sucessfully wavied the new debenture sytem, they can all stick with the old refundable one. We still have chance!!!! It is unfair to imply such new policy only to the small new group of families!!! All the current parents and the new comers should take the responsiblity together if the School have the financial difficulties. It is because we are all using the School facilities in the equal basis.

Please share.

I haven't paid and waiting for the decision. The payment deadline for deposit has been deferred to 8.3.10.

Please note that the Fees & Debenture page under the Admissions tab of the ICS website has been updated.

The changes reflect:
1. Removal of the Depreciating Debenture Scheme
2. Removal of the annual Book Fee. The Book Fee was replaced with the previous policy of a Book Deposit.
