These are conjuntions , they have three kinds ,one is countable ,another one is uncountable and the last kind is both of uncountable[uc] and countable[c].countable :many/few/a few/every/each.uc;much/little/a little.both;some/a lot of/plenty of/enough/all,etc.
Actually, you just have to know if the word is countable or uncountable and check the conjuntions that I gave you.

Those words "some" & "a lot of "  for describing nouns are actually adjectives.  Both of them can be used in  front of nouns, countable or uncountable.

Right or wrong by how you choose the suitable adjective to match the question !

These are conjuntions , they have three kinds ,one is countable ,another one is uncountable and the last kind is both of uncountable and countable[c].countable :many/few/a few/every/each.uc;much/littl ...

"a lot of"同"some"在此都是形容詞(adjective), 而some亦可以係代名詞(pronoun)或副詞(adverb), 但它們可不是"連接詞conjection。
它們都可以放在名詞(noun)前面來形容"可數countable"或"不可數uncountable"的名詞。
"a lot of"是很多的意思, 而"some"是一些, 例如你想說"好些人", 那你可以用"a lot of people"; "有些人"你可用"some people"。"許多車"你就可以說"a lot of cars", "有些車", 便用"some cars"

此乃愚見!
