Hi everyone...

Has anyone decide to place their kid in K1 class next year?

We have enrolled our little boy (oct 07) in am class.

Come in for a chat and hopefully we will meet next year!! :)

Seems you have already decided to chose this one!!! I think we are likely to let our daughter to study here also if no more other offer, i.e. keenmind. So hope our kid can be a classmate or bestfriend in the future... Yeah!!! Look forward to the open day of Creative, they told me it should be in next Apr/May.

I am leaning towards CPSK more than york, but i still have time to decide.  I really like the teaching method of CPSK and i feel that i can really trust the teachers here.  Where as at york, i have to think about whether or not to enroll my son in those extra courses, worry about whether the teachers are caring enough, and also in another post, i saw that there were 3 children on school bus, right- they were sitting on 2 seats, and only have 2 seatbelts, but there are 3 of them.  This makes me feel that they are not very caring for the children, and makes me worry about what this school can offer for my son... so..... i think CPSK is a better school :)

Kscindy... we are thinking about primary school too... if we can afford it, we will definitely let our son study in creative primary.  But we will also see which school he gets in by lucky draw, and see what happens then.... i mean, it's 3 years away from now, seems too soon to make a definite decision at the moment, but i still trust creative primary.

Hey does anyone know why this post has been moved, and where has it been moved to?  This is my first time to post something new, so i am not sure whether i have done something wrong... haha

I will also let my girl (oct07) to CPSK next year.I really like this school. But the primary is too expensive, I will not consider!

I will give up York & SN if finally cannot have other offer.

Oh.. your little girl is accepted by victoria ar? That's very good!! Which campus of victoria ar? We went for victoria interview too, but on waiting list... apparently, there are only 5 availability in am class, and 20 availability in pm class, but over 200 applicants... haha... so we just went for fun anyway.

Yes... victoria and creative primary both offer IB course. Both offer very good language courses in cantonese/eng/mandarin. I think with victoria kindergarten, not all of the kids can enter victoria primary because there are not enough places, so some of them will have to go to other primary schools, which may be troublesome. But for creative primary, they can take all creative kindergarten kids... but then, when they go onto secondary school, not all of the kids from primary school can get into secondary school because of the location of secondary school. So both have their advantage and disadvantages.

But I think with creative kindergarten, those who don't want to continue on creative primary school can still enter some great primary schools.

I guess all of us are choosing between CPSK and another 'traditional kindergarten' like york/ st. cat/ KV etc...

On one side, I like the teaching method of CPSK very much. And on the other side, also like the 'brand name' of those famous traditional kindergarten. Really hard to decide which one is best for my kid, or maybe should say which one suits my kid best and would provide an environment for him to develop his full potential.

How exactly do you guys think what personality a child has would suit traditional schools, and which ones would suit 'creative learning' lei??

I think it's too early to say what personality a 2 year old kid has for choosing the kindergarten, it is more important to see what kind of personality the parents hope the kids to have, and what kind of support can the family provides.

I know some of my friends are not good at English and have problems teaching their children at home, they would really want to find a traditional school to give them a good academic background.

For me, I'm confident that I can support my son's academic at home if someone say CPSK's academic is not as high as the traditional ones, so it's not a problem for me. I think the personality, creativity and all-round development are important and they are something not easy for me to teach at home. So I think CPSK would be a good choice for my son.

Just to correct regarding the IB issue. Creative kinder is not an IB school, Creative Primary is an IB candidate school (but Chinese school), Creative Secondary is an IB World school, ie a real IB school.

As for Victoria, Victoria Belcher is the only IB world school amongst all Victoria kinder. The Homantin one is an IB candidate school.

We have officially decide to study at this kindergarten. We rejected york's offer today.. seems like a waste but also a relief :)

Breathe... congratulations!!! I can't believe when you guys want AM class, i am seriously considering to write to school and switch to PM class... i don't know whether this is the right decision because everyone says AM class is much better, but i feel that PM class will be more suitable to us as i finish work really late, and if my son goes to AM class, it means that i don't get to see him at all because he will be sleeping by the time i finish work, and he will be at school when i wake up the next morning!!! Sigh... not sure what to do... any advice?

If you work till really late, please try not to adjust your kid's sleeping schedule to match you. That is not good to his health. No matter it's pm or am class students, it's very important for kids to sleep early. May be you can consider to wake up earlier to match the kid's schedule?

Nice to meet u here! I think you should choose the session which you and your kid feel confortable.

For me, I am a full-time mom, so it's better for us to choose the AM session, at least i can wake myself up earlier and can have lunch with friends or family. And i can have more free time if my son go to sleep earlier at nite!! hehehee

So, r u going to the open day? i m planning to go there on Sunday!

I would love to go to the open day as well... unfortunately, I am scheduled to work both days, so will have to ask my husband or my parents to go and let me know how it goes :(

Breathe... yes, if i am a full-time mum, then am class is definitely better with time management etc... But because I finish work late, i am thinking pm class will suit us better but am class is a healthier habbit for my son. Still deciding.... perhaps try am class first, and if it really does not work, then change to pm??

Hi all,

I am still stuggling between Creative and York.. ha..ha... personally I like Creative more, but York seems able to catch up with the traditional primary school... very difficult to choose...

I just call Creative, probably will need to do 2nd registration in mid June, when government approved the final school fee amount. I guess I need to make up my mind by end of May! :cry:

I want to know more about the homework issues. I heard the workload is quite less and student may have difficult to catch up with the workload with traditional primary school. What do u think? can you briefly tell us the homework situation?

我小朋友讀K2,功課量同K2 SC差唔多,每日一版中文字,英文&數學隔日做一次.週末仲有d工作紙同埋剪報,偶然會有d show & tell要預備下. 同聖心比,都系差唔多,不過佢地多左宗教功課.如果同KV比,梗系算少啦

我都有睇過相關POST，呢樣係其中一個令我有negative feeling 既因素。

我喜歡creative 既NET/普通話各佔90分鐘，對於language 來說，浸淫既時間好重要，而York 每日只有25MINS NET + 一個星期一堂普通話，相對來說時間好短。

由於Creative小學既學費太貴，負擔不起，所以應該要返回一般小學，讀Creative 既話要考慮囡囡會否已習慣輕鬆的學習模式 (唔知Creative K3 有無test or dictation etc???)，到時上小學驚追唔上....

在此更正,NET的時間有一小時左右,但PTH應該無甘多,好似大概每日30分鐘以內. CPSK不是英普班,是兩文三語的

YORK的雜費好多,茶點費都貴過人,要好好調查清楚啊,仲未計cambridge添呢

0-6歲係啟發小朋友最重要嘅時候。

我認為開心嘅學習環境，對小朋友有啟發性，長遠嚟睇係勝過要因為膽心日後追唔上傳统小學而揀一間可能課程較深，但較崔谷。況且我又唔信讀啟小幼就代表讀唔到傳统小學。

不過，如果你認為讀York都會係愉快學習，咁又唔同。

有朋友讀過N1芳芳,後來聽左. 我覺得N班無所謂,但K1來講,芳芳不是熱門學校, 你自己考慮一下吧

Oh, by the way, when I went to school this morning, there was a class of students coming down the stairs and they saw the Principal. Most children were very polite, they nodded and smiled and said "校長" to the Principal. The Principal was also able to call their names. Very impressive!

我阿囡系讀公文式架,因為果陣時佢坐唔定,好唔中意做d重複既野,所以我比佢去做下,訓練下佢.最初幾個月都好慘架,因為重複甘做題目丫嘛,但後來習慣左,依家訓練到專注力,一定要坐定定10分鐘完成功課,日日如是.依家做功課好主動,而且效率好高,所以我好有信心俾佢讀傳統小學.

不過有d人會選擇學enopi,珠心算,kwik math等,各有不同,你自己研究下邊樣最適合你小朋友啦.

I think york is very confusing administration wise... and after we rejected york's offer, then comes the international class episode where parents said they have been guaranteed a place without interview, but now york won't be able to do it etc.... so we were very glad that we didn't have to go through that :)

So I think we have made the right decision in choosing creative primary school kindergarten.

And yes, i agree that creative primary school fees are quite expensive. But there is no guarantee that york graduates can get into those band 1 primary schools, so it depends on luck on the 'lucky draw'.

Also, I feel that it's more important for my little boy to be interested in learning and good with communication as i believe these are far more important than doing a stack of homework or passing some cambridge tests as kindergarten kids. This is my opinion only :)

佢地好似食蛋糕麵包多d,種類都算比較多,我個女平時好挑剔,但系學校都願意試下d屋企未食過既野,我開學第一日試過少少,味道都OK架,我覺得好過自己每日絞盡腦汁帶咩茶點,哈哈.

照顧方面,學校老師會教佢,你唔使考慮甘多喇,小朋友長大左喇,都需要慢慢學習點樣獨立照顧自己.CPSK D老師好有愛心,好尊重小朋友個別差異,唔使擔心.

上年大仔k1開學時都有同學仔係未戒片呀.
呢個暑假努力戒啦,就算未戒晒,有意識出聲話去洗手間都好吖.
每個小朋友進度有別,唔好介意.最重要係同老師講清楚佢情況,老師會配合.

Hi mugisan,

My son is not in the same class, he's in K1A3 (a.m.).  Today is the first day that he went to school bus by himself and had the 3-hour class.  I think it's a little bit tough for K1 students that it's the first day to school without parents and 3-hours is a very long time for them.

My son dropped a little bit tears when he went up to the school bus by himself but didn't cry out loud.  So I was a bit worried that he may cry poorly at school for the 3 hours.  I called the school and asked the class teacher to call me back after school.  I feel so relieved that the teacher said he didn't cry at all in the school.  Hope he can keep it up!

How about your kids?  I hope everyone will settle nicely in the school!

Today is the third day to school.  Same here, my son felt worse day by day as he cried louder and louder before he left home, all the way to school bus, I agree that they now know they have to be in school for long time.  However, the class teacher said he didn't cry at all when he arrived school in the past 2 days, and he was happy when he returned home, with no swollen eyes, so I hope he can get better soon!

It only takes less than 10 minutes to and from school on school bus.  An hour for you is really a very long time, can you try other 保母車?

I may not go to the parents talk this Saturday, my husband should be going.  But maybe we can meet in the future events.

I won't call the school again today lu..., 係時候放吓手, 讓他慢慢成長.  我們應該比多啲信心他們的.

The interview was very simple and pleasant. The teachers only let the children play some toys and asked a few simple questions. Mainly talked to the parents. The teachers were very friendly, so don't worry.

I can't answer all your questions because my son only started school for one week.  Maybe other mums can help you more.

My son cried a little bit in the past 3 days before he went to school bus, but the teacher said he didn't cry in school at all once he arrived school.  Today is the 4th day that he's going to school by himself, and he could already leave home with a happy face this morning, I believe the teachers must have done a very good job to settle down the children in the new environment.  I'm so happy to see him making an improvement in such a short time.

The book fees were reasonable (I forgot how much exactly, should be less than $2,000 for whole term or whole year??), there are not much misc fees so far.

There should be parent talk every year by the principal.

There should be English with NET and native PTH teachers everyday.  I must say there are so many native PTH teachers in the school, I can see them everywhere!!!

My son's class teacher is local teacher, but I have also already met the NET and PTH teachers for his class, they all seemed very nice and caring!

Hi! my girl is also in class K1A3(a.m.), nice to meet you all! My girl also goes to school by school bus. She didn't cry for the first 2 days, but start crying loudly till today. But the auntie on school bus tells me that she stops crying very soon after i leave. I'm not surprised about that, she uses to cry whenever she leave me, and stops crying right after i disappear, that's a normal behaviour patern of her. But i believe she loves going to school, and the class teacher also told me that she adapted quite well at school. I will go to the meeting this sat, see u.

After these two weeks, my son is very happy for his first school life, at home, he always find his books in the school bag and watch, it seems the teacher have their ability to increase their interest in reading. Besides, I also observe the staff of the whole school are very polite and sincere, even though the school workers to headmaster, it can have a good environment for them to growth.
One day at home, my son suddenly speak with PTW to us, but we didn't speak PTW to him from his lifetime, we were very surprise, initially we afraid he cannot catch up the PTW lesson as we havn't speak to him, but I think it was wrong.
Hope our kids can study happily in their school life.
BTW, I want to organize a facebook page to gather the K1 student this year. It can have closer relationship for us to obtain the information from each other as our kids will study together in the future 3 years.

hi, my kid also speaks putonghua sometimes to himself while playing.  it's very funny that he spoke 'good afternoon, children' in pth.  i laughed when he accidentally spoke that.  he was not greeting to anyone but he suddenly remembered that sentence.
and he also says some complete sentences in english.  i found that he is trying to turn some vocabulary into sentences.  he said 'it is a fan.' instead of just said 'fan'.
and he sometimes sings the songs he has learnt in school and dances while singing.  he's so funny.  i especially like the talent show held in the school birthday party each month.
hope all our kids enjoy school everyday.

How's everyone's kids at CPKG?

My son is in pm class now, and i think he is adapting very well. He will cry if it is my day off and i am taking him on the school bus, but if i am at work, my helper said he is very good preparing for school. In general, he is very happy after he comes back from school, and last night, he said 1-7 in mandarin.. yeah! It must be something he learnt at school as we never taught him mandarin at home.. hehe... so all is going well.

Are all your kids at am class?

But if we didn't change his am class, then he would have been in K1A1 so still cannot be classmates with your kids... it seems like there's far less parents chatting on this forum from CPKG compared with other kindergartens like york for example.... wonder where all the parents are from this school? Is your son changing from another kindergarten? He will be in the same class as my boy then... cool.... i know there's another classmate in his class who lives in 深井, and at the introductory days in september, i heard that they are catching 保姆車. Maybe you should call the class teacher and i am sure they will know/ will find out for you.... his class teacher will be miss yu.

We live in tsuen wan, which is not too far from you... but we are catching the school bus, and it takes one hour to go to and from school... maybe the private buses will be quicker? Hope this helps :)

I agree that this topic is very quiet here.  My son is in K1A3(am).  Nice to meet you all.

I went to the parents meeting on Satuday and had good chats with the Chinese and English teachers.  The teachers are very nice and caring, they know my son well and can tell his characteristics clearly.

My son's Chinese is not good, so when I was talking to the Chinese teacher, I was quite worried because it appears he speaks a lot less than other children at the same age.  I think other children at his age can speak full sentences fluently, but he's still like a baby with short simple sentences.

But when I talked to the English teacher, I was a bit surprised that the English teacher said he actually talked a lot with her and speaks good full sentences and wide vocabularies..., I finally felt quite relieved that he's not really that behind, but only has his own language preference....

Anyway, I think my son is not good at playing with other children at same age.  I observe that he feels more comfortable with adults than with children, the teachers also said he prefers to sit and talk with teachers instead of talking to other children.  Is this normal at his age?  Are your children starting to make friends and play with children at their own age now??

I missed the parents meeting on saturday cos my husband and i both had to work... but the teacher said she would call me and discusss with me over the phone, so yet to see what she has to say.

My son's english was better when he was younger as we were living in australia, but since we came back to hong kong last year, his chinese has improved heaps but his english is worse now :(
He can speak chinese in full sentences, but english is just a few simple words which doesn't make up a full sentence, but at least my helper can understand him... so i guess it's just the opposite from your son :)

He likes to play with kids that he knows.... like if we hold gatherings with his previous pre-school's kids, then he will happily be playing with them. But i notice that on his assessment from school, the social status always says needs to be encouraged. So i have a feeling that he doesn't play much with the kids at school.... so i think it takes a long time for him to warm up with kids. With adults, it's easier cos the adult will be talking to the kids first & warming them up, but kids all have their own mind sets and they don't know how to be friendly with other kids at the same age on their own, so they need an adult to sit them down and introduce them properly and start to play together etc.... which is hard at school cos the teacher is trying to teach them things like abc, going to toilet, eating afternoon tea... it's structured daily so makes it hard for them to play together i suppose? I think it's normal for kids to like to play with adults, but i think they will eventually like to play with other kids their own age as they grows a bit older :)

My son has an elder sister so they can spend a lot of time playing silly games together including camping under bedsheets etc...  He likes watching cartoons too, especially Disney Channel, but the teachers said maybe because of this, his 專注力 is not very good, so we're working hard to cut down his TV time.  He likes all kinds of cars, esp. falling in love with McQueen.  So we bought him some story books on Cars and a McQueen puzzles (approx 30 pieces).  At first we thought he's too small to play puzzles, but I guess he just likes it too much, he plays the puzzles at least a few times a day and now he can do the puzzles by himself independently.  I guess he just memorize the location of each piece, but at least he's busy with the story books and puzzles which he actually reduced his time on TV.

But I guess having a sister also makes him less interaction with other children.  When we go out with my friends who also have kids about same age, he only likes to follow his sister all the time, guess he feels too comfortable with her and getting dependent on her.  So I hope I can start to help him making more friends of his own.

I wonder if CPSK will hold any Christmas party or school picnics that will involve parents in K1 this year.  I think it's time for parents to get to know each other and make friends.

My son loves puzzles as well.... maybe should i say used to? ... recently he is busy playing with his other toys from his birthday presents, so puzzles have been abandoned for now... haha. I think he memorises the location of the piece too... it amazes me how quick they can memorise a puzzle piece and yet seems to be slower on his ABCs and 123s.

May i ask where did you buys black trainers for school? I seem to have trouble finding black trainers, there's leather shoes but no trainers? Thanks!!

I got the black trainers from regulary sports shop (giga sports) only. His trainers are black with coloured logos. But I called the school before I bought the shoes, I told them it's impossible to find purely black trainiers, the staff said they understand this and so any black trainers with coloured patterns or coloured logos are acceptable, as long as they are "mostly" black.

I think mine are from New Balance, but I also found addidas have the black trainers too but with the stripe logo.

My son wore the addidas trainers to school and the school teacher said it's fine, so that's sorted. I think he was a bit upset when he told me that the teacher said he needs to wear black shoes for school (on certain days), so we acted very quickly so he won't be different from other kids :)

I also have troubles finding the prince's clothes, there are so many princess clothes clothes everywhere but just none for prince. I'll check out some costume stores in Central this week. Let's share any information when anyone finds the prince clothes.
