btw, I dont' think what the office lady said is reliable , cos' last time when I called them to confirm if all the acceptance were sent out at one go, she just said that they were sent by batches and the principal was the one who handle it. So I think the office lady doesn't know the admission thing well.

where does he live? I called the school yesterday noon and have been advsied that no list has yet been released.

I also heresay that they prefer a balance mix of girl and boy. so far in BK, only two indicated that they have given up the offers and their kids are all girls.

Anybody receive 2nd batch acceptance phone calls or letters from SSCPS?

It is nearly Friday, apart from related parents who has studied in SSCPS before had got the 2nd batch acceptance phone calls or letters. Or anybody really have any ideas of 2nd batch acceptance letters? Anybody give up the seat with SSCPS?

I do mention in another post that somebody decide to study in SSCPS because of the interview arrangement. Because I did interivew few schools and found that SSCPS interview doesn't count anything to consider for studying in the school. However, why I would like my child to study there because of the girls I met there which is quite good.

Yes, any parent receive the reject letter from SSCPS? If really not, I may call the school if they have sent the wrong letter to me. (Well, this is my wish only. But the chance is near to zero.)

Including me, six moms also didn't receive any reply.
Only one mom that I knew had received an acceptance and had registered on 27th nov.
And I think only a few seats will be released after the results of DBS and DGJS have been announced.

for SPco-ed, i have received its reject letter long time ago lah! but never mind, after i have collected more info of it, it is not our favorite ones lah! i have heard from my ex-colleague that its (sec school) focus is on academic and music, not really encouraging sports. so i would rather take one which is more all-rounded.

I guess there is quite a good chance to get a seat in the DSS/private schools finally next year if kids are on wait list.

My rationale is I am always puzzled that it looks like this year's P1 competition for DSS/private schools is much higher than last year (look at the average application no. of DSS/private schools). I undertsand schools cut down class size (small class policy) this year. But birth rate of 2004 is even a bit lower than 2003. One thing to explain this phenomenon is parents in general apply more DSS/private schools as compared to last year. As a result of this, on average some kids have more offers on hand which they need to give up all finally, except one school in June next year.

1.  The registration date is so late that not many will fortfeit if they really registered.
2.  No lucky draw for the registered kids.
3.  Schools not announce results yet are DBS, DBJS, Ying Wa, CKY.

I think mainly the seats from the above 4 schools and  St. Paul Co-ed, St. Paul Boys, St. Paul Convent (no idea about its admission) will directly release places from SSCPS.  Of course, the lucky draw may release some of the seats from the above schools.

Athough SSCPS is a private school, registered kids cannot join the lucky draw. They are required to sign a letter for that.

Correct. Seats at SSCPS will be only given up by those have other better choice in DSS/private schools. They are likely not to tell SSCPS they give up until P1 starts school in 2010. I was not referring to luck Draw as after regististration with SSCPs, you cannot have lucky draw anyway.

But it is quite common that kids do not just have one DSS/private schools accepted so far or next 1-2 months. (as far as I know from my kids' classmates)

Problem now is quite a number of seats are on the same group of kids, unless parents make up the mind now with one school and then notice other schools they give up the seats. Otherwise the seats will be locked up until next June/July only.

One possible solution I can think of is DSS/private schools can refund part of the registration fee parents paid so far if parents can notice school about giving up places, say by end of January. (incentive to parent to report to school ASAP!)

Waiting list letter rec'd. The waiting list is too long for any parent to assess heir chance.

There is minimal chance that parents registered with SSCPS and later also registered with other seem-to-be-better DSS to give up SSCPS before 6/10, because they have already paid for the high registration fees and not 豁達 enough to give chances to other waiting parents.

It means that there is no different to the rejected letter. The school is just putting themselves in a win win side. They only accept 99 students for P1. It is crazy to keep a waiting list for 200?????? Does it mean that we need to get in 2 years later. It is really a joke!!!. 99 students have to leave and another 99 replace them and they have to leave again and another 99 replace them. Then the 3rd round will be our turn??????

Forget about it. The letter is just = to rejected letter!!!!!

Take a step back, can we ask ourselves how many DDS/private school we have applied for our kids. There are many smart kids got more than three or four offers? As a result, they may need to keep that many waiting list students. However, I would think the school can do better by having ranking in waiting list, such as 1st batch and or 2nd batch, so that parents can have more info for their kids. As far as I know, St Paul Boy do offer 1st batch waiting list .........

It is really not uncommon that a kid got 3 to 5 offers.  Actually, I have already got 6 offers.  Regardless the branding or popluarity of a school, if each kid got 4 offers and the school have 100 seats, it needs to give offer to 100 applicants and place 300 applicants on the waiting list to fill up all the 100 seats.

To be safe, another 100 applicants need to be on the waiting list.  The number should be more if we take into account the effect of lucky draw.

But SSCPS requires a high registration fee, announced result so late and registered applicants cannot join the lucky draw.  So the number of applicants on the waiting list should be less than the above if all 99 seats is already registered.

The question now is what number is reasonable.

Let me make a simple forecast.

About 10 reported having received the acceptance letters of the 99 seats. So, 1/10 of people will report in BK.

18 x 10 = 180 are on the waiting list now.

More may show up in the coming few days.

大家唔好諗咁多啦，也估唔到自己在waiting list排第幾。做計劃時，也唔好假設赤聖會取錄囉。這樣做會實際點，開心點。聖誕節假，上少幾日bk，去戶外relax 下，或者出外走走。

另一方面，也要感激有internet和有bk這個平台，否則收到張waiting list信，重以為希望在明天，原來自己只係幾十至百幾個candidates 其中一個。

我唔係消極，只係取錄與否，唔係控制得到。最後，入唔到赤聖亦唔係世界末日!
