I don't know which one to choose for my daughter! We have a little brother at home. If we choose St. Paul Catholics, he will have no marks for next yr's first round. But St Paul Catholics is free and I heard that it's a good school. So if you were me, which one will you choose? Please kindly advise................

I will choose st paul catholic. It is not guarantee that you younger one can get a place for Raimondi.
ST paul catholic is a really good school.

Interview skills of boys are not as good as girls. So if your boy is very smart, there's no need for you to bother the little brother at this stage and choose the school according to your will. But if you are not sure, I recommend you to reconsider. My smaller boy gets accepted this year by Raimondi, I believe elder brother plays a part.

雖然我得一個小朋友，唔會切身感受到有家姐細佬家長既種種考慮；但係，每個小朋友都係個體，我始終覺得要分開來做决定，對家姐會公平0的。

兩間都係好學校, 但St Paul 係十二年免費一條龍直上, 就算姊姊入咗Raimondi, 弟弟未必保証一定入到Raimondi 的. 或者出年弟弟可以靠自已考到呢.
兩間唯一分別係女校 or 男女校.
假如不介意讀女校的話, 我會揀 St Paul, 好多人恨到口水都流呀!

15 marks in, congratulations! U Really need to seriously think about this. A couple of my friends' kids are there, the parents all said it is a good school, although it's traditional. The teachers there said to my friend that they are more concerned on a girl's moral and behaviour than their academics. So my friend felt that their teachers have hearts.
Yes chinese is the medium, that's the little drawback. But would you accept this little drawback for such a good school?

I give you some info for your consideration. I am a current P.1 parent of Raimondi. I have 2 close friends whose daughters are studying in St. Paul Catholics P.1 and P.2 respectively this year.
We always share the worksheets and discuss the academic levels of both schools. My 2 friends also admitted that Raimondi's academic level (esp English and PTH) is higher than St. Paul for sure. We also agree that both schools are good school according to the qualities of the teachers (with hearts) and students.
However, be fair, if school fee is a concern (and if you don't mind 1/2 day school), then 6 years' free education is really attractive. Good luck !!

In my opinion, I don't think studying Chinese Primary School=problem in Eng level. Too many good schools in Hong Kong la each must have its adv/disadv but your daughter can only study one, why not to choose one which is free!

Frankly, other than saying St Paul is a "great school, good school" - any more concrete things to share in terms of academic, social and extra -curricular activities. From the website, it appears to be a VERY traditional school -does that also means conservative? As parent of 2 boys, I personally prefer a co-ed school to develop their interpersonal skills and social behaviours.
I have a friend whose elder daughter was studying at Creative kinder, used to be cheerful and active, becomes calm upon study at Good Hope because of the strict discipline there. He chose to let her younger daughter to study primary at Creative in Kowloon Tong. So I think the character of yr daughter is critical in finding the right school for her and of course there's practical logistic concerns for kids studying at diff schools.

I think all saying here st. paul catholic is a good school given that both Ramondi and it are traditional school (except that the teaching language is diff). If one's comparing say st. paul's with creative or st. stephen's, then the way to compare is totally different, it really depends on how parents want to nurture their children, and the children's characters.
As far as I know, st. paul's catholic is a good school, that it is concerned on a child's moral development, not the most pushy style to push up the academics, not as much homeworks as perhaps st.paul's co-ed, the school ppl is modest, not exaggerating.
BTW, if one's concerned about english standard, I really don't think this is a major problem, as you can use the money that save up from tuition to let her go to attend english lessons outside and read english books. The english standard of its associated secondary section is really good, no doubt.
The other drawback of this school is it alternates am/pm every other school year.

ask your friends who graduated from girls school and those from co-ed school. then you will get some idea.
school life 12 years, not short.

sorry, don't be upset.....which district do you belong to ? I belong to district 14, I planned to choose Canossa (quarry bay) if I failed in the 1st round. My girl's classmate's sister is studying there, her mom said that school is also gd!

Pls note that early maturity of kids is a growing and irreversible trend, as U said if yr kid want to meet friends of opp sex, he/she can do so with relative ease but if my son dates a girl at P5, I'd rather he dates someone fom the same school and at least U have better knowledge of her backgraound rather than someone from the Cyber world

I will go there tomorrow as well.
Really, they have less students? It's much better then.
BTW, I remember you're still waiting for offer from DGJS. Me too. But anyway, we won't go wrong with st. paul's catholic, they're both traditional and good schools.

haha, btw, I don't expect that my girl can get an offer from DGJS leh............... cos' she is on the waiting list of a few school only, she never can get acceptance apart from Raimondi and true light. It is a great torture to do this P.1 admission thing this yr......... always wait for the mail and always get disappointed after opening the mail...........But now I m so happy that she can have a seat for a good school.......... no need to worry abt her anymore...

Actually, we are a bit disappointed with her interview skills leh............. I saw some kids who can have a few offers from the DSS and private schools............. and my girl just doesn't have the ability to achieve that..........sigh...........
Now I think may be the fate have arranged us to study in St. Paul, to save money for her future to study aboard (may be), so just 順其自然leh!

In fact, the school is making an effort to pilot a small class teaching scheme with p.3 Chinese Language subject this year. The class is divided into half and they each have one Chinese Language teacher teaching them respectively. I really appreciate the school's initiative on this project as it means a lot of work on resources and planning.
Given the popularity, it is more difficult for traditional schools in the area to go small-class.

Don't look down on our kids. Kids are developing on their own pace and on a different scale. The kids that I knew who got admitted to one of those elite schools are not the bright ones I know, they did not so good in the kinder. Not making sense to measure a kids' ability at this early stage. We're all just playing a game.
Let's focus on building our kids' confidence and curiosity in learning are essential to their study all the way into uni.

Thanks for your comfort. I think moral development is more important than academic achievement. Now she is lucky to get into St. Paul which always emphasizes ethnical issues. I hope she can grow up as a happy and good person. Apart from DGJS, are u still expecting results from St. Stephen's?

之前囝囝未有着落,真係一啲心機都無,直情什麼也不想做.

And your big one is a girl? and have the offer of St. Stephen and RC? And you are waiting for DGJS 2nd interview result? Wha is the Kindergarten your big kid studying?
