My daugther was also accepted by St. Paul Co-ed. We are unrelated, not even at a famous kindergarten. Just moved to HK Island from Tinshuwai earlier on this year.
My wife and I shared shared the same vision as the headmistress - she is really passionate about education, spending half an hour to talk in details about the school.
We will give up the spot at Raimondi. Still waiting for DGJS.

That would be a difficult decision if DGJS also admits my daugther. There is a theory that kids will be more balanced and complete in a co-educational school.
I also need to consider my little boy who should have a reasonably assured chance of being admitted, if my daughter is at SPCCPS.
No doubt. DGS girls are sharp, confident and brilliant. But I heard that probably because of single-gender environment, DGS girls are too independent and career-minded. Some have great difficulty in getting married.

Agree. For the siblings, SPCC is the best choice.
My friend gave up DGJS last year and took SPCC offering. She said DGJS moved to TKO and needed to pick up her daughter after school
ex-activities, like choir, no school bus. It's difficult for a working mum to pick up the kid from school.

Received acceptance letter on last Sat. It would be a difficult decision for me too if DGJS also admits my daughter.
As we live in Kowloon. And if some of my daughter's friends can also get into DGS, she will not feel alone.
But I also need to consider my little son too. And SPCCPS is really a good Co-ed school as well.
May God give me wisdom to choose a correct school for my kids (if DGS also accepted her)

I think the teaching method for both SPCC and DGS are diff. I think it depends on what is your expectation from the kids.

First sorry for this multi-threads. Seems that the web has some problems as I cannot see my threads after my posting.
Regarding to teaching method, DGJS has more school works, dictations, tests. All girls there have to behave more discipline. Also DGJS is an english school.
As for SPCC, it is a chinese primary school. I think the test and dictation will not be as much as DGJS but of course the level of standard has to be high as well. Also apart from academic, SPCC also focused on the development from other areas. In addition, a co-ed school will be much different from a girl school. This impacts their networking later as well.
From my observation to those whom i know are graduated from these two schools, i think SPCC one are more all-rounded. I am not sure if you will feel the same from the school tour and the observation to the current students.

因為囡囡係最後一日第一個見校長 (2nd in)，第二個見o個位小朋友，竟然係前一日去 2nd in DGJS 時，差不多時間見 (一齊o係 waiting room 等)，所以當天早上o係 General Room 相遇，大家都認得對方 !! 
之前冇咩參予回應，只係齋睇 (包括早幾年o既 topic)，不過o係幫囡囡去考 co-ed o既過程，真係有好多o野想同大家分享 !!

其實囡囡同 hui916's 囡囡都係差唔多，我o地都o係由元朗搬去大圍，再由大圍搬去 CWB，所以我o地都係第一次做 "香港島" 人 !!

Many people who have been waiting for the admissiion letter probably reside in Kowloon/NT. So you have to wait for the website upload. Those live in HK Island should have received the letter last Saturday.
As for my case, at the end of the 2nd interview the headmistress already hinted that my daugther got accepted. But I have been been very anxious until it is confirmed.
I think the admission process is fair and merit-based, not in favor of rich people like other people said.

I submitted my daugther's application almost on the last day as I was told that the chance of getting admitted was so slim, as we were totally unrelated. My daugther did not attend a famous kindergarten either.
It appears that top schools prefer well-educated parents and presentable kids.
I encourage all parents to try your dream school.

SPCC is my dream school. A lot of my boss's kids are studying there. During the application process, I tried to understand more from them about the school life and the kids' development. The kids from SPCC always give me a pleasant feeling.
I think you may imagine the teaching method to boys should be diff from that to the girls. As regarding to moral education, I think both school would be at the high standard. I have no doubt to this. At SPCC, the learning would be diff with the boy's elements.
However, my daughter failed and did not even get the 2nd in. I think they still pick up kids with some specific quality and I am very glad to the parents here for their kids having this offer. I really hope you all can pick up the school suitable to your kids.

KaHeiBaBa, we have exactly the same feeling as yours, we also live in Causeway Bay but no letter on Sat.
We went down to our building lobby on Sat morning, luckily we met the postman, we thought we'd have the letter so we waited and waited, finally mr. postman gave me no SPCC letter but a Water Bill instead.
Anyway, we're still very happy today, just like living in a dream.

Congratulations to all parents who have received the acceptance letters!
Although my son cannot get into the school (at the first place, the school is really not suitable for him or vice versa), I got a very good impression on the school. I would try this school again for my little daugther 2 years later....
Just to share my observations:
During the briefing session or interview process, I observed that the staff (including the security guard in the gate who gave us the applications form) in SPCC are very nice and caring. When I was waiting for my son's interview, I saw one girl whose shoe laces were out of place and there was a teacher passed by. The teacher advised the girl to tie up the shoe laces in a very caring manner. When my friend's child got fever and could not attend the interview, the staff also arranged another interview with her and asked the child the take care.
....It appears that the school emphasizes moral education and full of love/care. Hope to hear from your sharing and actual experience in next year when the school term starts!

Hi dear all,
Congratulations to all parents whose kids got admitted. I can imagine how delightful it would be.
I am one of those parents whose kids got on the waiting list. I have to admit that we didn't have high hope to start with. We were indeed soooooooooooo surprised when we were invited to the second interview and it was only then when we started to dream about being admitted to SPCC. Of course the two weeks of waiting was unbearable, and I believe you can imagine how disappointed we were when we received the result... it was like falling into hell from heaven... (well, a bit exaggerated... it was more like waking up from a sweet dream... back to reality, sadly).
The major reason why we didn't have high hope in the beginning and why we were so surprised to be invited to the second interview is because our son is a typical "active" type, curious, talkative and basically can't have a moment of silence. Learning that the chance of getting admitted from the second interview is roughly 150/200, we then started our dream.
You can imagine how it was like when we had our second interview, with a boy like ours. Well, I still think he did his very best... I mean, what can you expect from a child like him after 2 hours of waiting before the interview. He didn't do anything drastic during the interview, but he couldn't help walking around in the room and exploring things like the glass table in the room and the electric wires and sockets...
Honestly, I still do not want to give up on the hope of being admitted... who would given this reputable school and attractive curriculum? But I sincerely would like to seek an advice from all you parents here whose kids are admitted - "Do anyone of you have an 'active' kid like me?" or put it this way, "Do you think being weak in 'self-discipline' would be a factor indicating that my son is not a good match with this school?"
All along, I have heard that SPCC would tend to pick polite, mature and well-behaved kids. I was still wondering whether I should try my very best to continue to show my enthusiasm towards the school, or whether I should confirm and accept the fact that I should focus on other schools that have a higher tolerance level with less disciplined ones.
Can anyone please help me with this?

My daughter also happens to be a very talkative, outgoing and presentable girl. But looking at the plus side, she is presentable, confident and very smart. What made me really worried during the 2nd interview was she quickly scanned all books on shelf, jumping very fast from one to another in less than 1 minute. I could even hear the noice when she was switching over books and opening pages.
Even worse, she interrupted our conversation with the headmistress asking for going out to toilet (She did the same thing during the 1st interview!). My wife and I had been so worried that what she behaved would jeopardize the chance of being admitted.
Luckily, she got admitted!

And I think it would be hurtful if no one is answering...
For your information, boys are active in SPCC.
They are not the book worm type.
You can see them running around during lunch and recess just like any ordinary kid.
However, they are all indeed very polite.
They say greetings to people/strangers whenever they meet them anywhere in school.
Not just doing it in front of teachers.
Please don't give up hope to your son.
Getting into final 200 is really exceptional.
There will be people giving up seats due to various reasons. I am not sure about this year. But for previous year, there is a small print at the bottom of letter. It shows the waiting list number, i.e. from 1-50. The school called to those listed on waiting list according to sequence.
Hope it helps and truly hope your wish will come true one day.

I share the same observation with you on those SPCC selected students.
And I would like to add one more point to your list, good visual perceptual abilities.
In fact, except the language ability, the questions asked during the 1st interview of SPCC, from what my boy told me, were similar to those “IQ” oriented-questions, e.g. ability to focus, putting pieces together (puzzles), tests on short-term memory, ability to understand the key points etc.
I also agree for those being selected by SPCC, they are likely to have other offers from other top-tier schools like DBS, DGS, St Paul Boys, YWC etc.
As my boy has gone thro those 2nd interviews (except DGS of course), one way or the other, they tested the child with similar questions either in 1st or 2nd round interview.
And so, I tend to conclude that these are the reasons for those top-tier schools able to maintain their performance throughout the years. The quality of the kids are good. As long as proper guidance are provided, they will blossom. (Please do not mistaken me saying the quality of the kids in other schools are bad!)
As such, the tests are all focused on the child himself but not their family background nor their wealth.
Some parents are just too sensitive.

I agree totally!
In the beginning, other people said that the school tends to choose rich people, but after going into the school and having done the interviews & registration, I think it's not true.
It depends a lot on the kid's attitude and ability, esp the performance. The school is fair in choosing the pupils who suit the school. I didn't feel they have any prejudice against less wealthy families.
