Hi,
Same as my son. Most probably I will choose St. Paul Boys. St. Paul Boys 中學 just announced that they won't join 政府中一統一派位 i.e. most of their own primary school boys can directly enter into their secondary school if boys meet their standard. So I don't need to play this game after six years.
However, Raimondi is also one of the good schools under my consideration.
Just sharing my own view.

I think by the time your kid is promoted to secondary schooling, there's very high chance that Raimondi will turn DSS / private. Both the PTA of primary and secondary section are working closely and primary students are taking part in functions of secondary school as well. Currently 85% of secondary students come from primary and the rep of PTA told us at the interview that they are working to take in as many primary students as possible in future. You may also consider the fact that the sports results at inter-school competition of Raimondi secondary is higher than that of St Paul Boy's and that Raimondi is now a co-edu which gives better environment in social development than a pure boys school. PS DBS is also thinking of admitting girls in future and I think this is an irreversible trend.

Can somebody tell us more?
In compare with:-
1. English - which one is better?
2. Putongha - I know RC starts from P1.
3. Maths - RCs is in Cantonese and partially in English?
4. General Studies - Putongha or English or Cantonese?
5. Location - St. Paul boys will be in Cyber Port.
Any comments? How do you choose? Or people still think St. Paul boys is higher or better than RC?

My personal idea I will choose St Paul. Compare with the unoffical ranking of secondary school. St Paul is much higher than RC. (You can search the ranking in internet.)

I will choose St Paul Boy too but I found the "unofficial secondary schools ranking list" is completely a joke! It is not evidence based and it's funny that some of the band 3 schools are even ranked higher than some band 1 schools..

My boy is SPC student.
From P1-P3, PTH is a separate subject. Chinese Lang is taught in Cantonese, but the school will enhance PTH standard during these 3 years to prepare students using PTH in Chinese subject.
From P4 onwards, there will be no PTH subject. Instead, Chinese Lang will be taught in PTH, students must communicate with Chinese teachers in PTH (no matter in class or outside class).
Maths is taught in Chinese from P1-P6.
For General Studies, in P1, it will be 75% in Chinese and 25% in English. As students be promoted to higher class, the portion of using English textbook is increased. My boy is now P5, 75% GS is taught in English.
Re: English standard. I don't know the standard in Raimondi. But I can comment on SPC that English is getting more and more difficult in the recent years. Those taught in daily lessons and those appear in exam are two different matters!

I tend to believe in this analysis coz I heard over the dropping of SPC's academic in recent years from various sources, such as tutorial centres in Central and someone who has chance to meet students of different secondary schools.

Funny is that ppl nowadays still compare school with "bands" I have said several times that only students are divided into bands not school.
agree that years before SPC became DSS, the quality of students drop due to several reasons. But after DSS, the result improved a lot, at least you can browse its web site to know the recent award to their students. I don't know Ramondi, so I can't comment on them.
But one thing I need to say, there are so many different awards outside that students can participate into. don't blind fold to compare with other school.
second, if you are using tutorial class standard to compare, sorry, that is not accurated.
I will say choose the school you are comfortable with. do not compare. There is always strength and weakness in different schools.

It is fair to say that DB has highest sports attainment in Hong Kong; St. Joseph has the highest attainment in Hong Kong Island

其實兩間都是名校，不過St. Paul Boy家長們會答你St.Paul Boy好D,高主教的家長又會答你高主教好D,都是出於自我認同，什麼全港排名第幾, 都是主觀分析和過往偏好,自己兒子的小學是最好的，但不等於你入了名校自己的兒女就是天才和品德良好的小孩，視符家長如何栽培和教育兒女,其實邊間好在於小朋友會較適應那一間學校的校園生活和功課壓力(因現時的小朋友實在有太多野要學,很辛苦),但真要比較的話,我就對St.Paul boy看低一線,兩間學校都有中學部,但St.Paul boy小學中小,英文水平比高主教差了點,在現時的微調方案下較為不利,比較一下兩校的公開試成績(多年栽培後的收成如何),的確是高主教是比較優勝,時移勢易,St.Paul boy已不像以往,"聖"字頭學校都是好嘢(我小時候都是這樣想),家長應多加注意, 參考吓中學部的成績數據就最實際。

I agree with you that most of the parents show preference on the school that their child is attending.
My son got a seat on both RC and SP Boys on last year. I choose RC for my son finally (even many people advise me SP Boys is better during the important moment of decision making), coz RC can show me a clear and concrete impression on her teaching trend and logos during interview and my research, e.g. 兩文三語 start from P.1, pay attention on gifted child and good handling on the switch from a single gender school to co-ed school.
Of course the Principal, teachers and the existing students also show me their patient, experience and professional organization during interview that less express in SP Boys than in RC.
Now, both my son and me are satisfied to study in RC and feel much better than I expected.
So, don't just listen to the people and trust your eyes. Go to get much research before you make decision.
That's all I want to share with all the parents.
