I don't know much about 崇真, sorry that I can't give you any advice.
But my daughter had an interview at Think (LC) today and I think it's quite good. Hope she can get the offer.
Can you share something about Think N1? Thank you.

Interview?

Yes, n1 students need to take the interview also, my son just got accepted by Think for whole day class recently. (my son is in Think's N1 now)

pollybell,

"所以如果我心儀果間收佢,我到時都好頭痛" ... same here ... Last year I also enrolled different KGs(K1) ... at the end I gave up all the offers, including a through-train KG and stayed in THINK. I felt the same as u all did i.e. very caring teachers and super happy school life! Luckily, I haven't regreted so far. Though in K1, the teachers won't call every day, they just had a more frequenet progess report. but I think it's good enough already. Afterall, can feel that the teachers have heart in teaching.
And this year, I enrolled only 1 so-called famous KG in Kln tong. I intended to let him repeat K1 as he's a super small boy. If that KG accepts him.. it;s really a headache to me!

To me, it's pretty normal to have "accent". My son's teachers are from India and Australia... and of course, they are having Indian and Australian accents.
I remember when i was in secondary school, I came across Eng teachers from different countries, having different accents too (e.g. Canadian, British, Americian, Australian, Indian etc.) In fact, it's a very good training to me :) I don't expect Pure Queen's English anyway.

Hi twinsstar,
I am thinking of putting my daughter in Think too, but is worried that it is a "too happy" school and not academic enough for HK priary schools. I don't plan to put my daughter in International school in Primary...just DSS schools or traditional schools. What is your opinion?

Toreship,
I'm not targeting international school as well. And I plan to apply for traditional schools and DSS (not so newly established). For me, I prefer choosing KGs which do not lie on the 2 extreme ends i.e not "too pushy" and not "too happy". In fact, "happy" is ok as long as the kids are learning something. To me, THINK has wide range of activities and at the same time, good enough academic level (e.g. in lower nursery, they start recognising simple Chinese words such as "Big" "Small" etc) and I heard that her Eng would be more demanding after promoting to K2 and 3 too.
I hope i'm making a right choice also :)

I talked to some NETs at Think, but I think they're OK. As the teacher my daughter interviewed was a Chinese, I didn't know there was a NET in the interview room.
I don't mind the accents. But I heard an Indian teacher at another KG saying 'mouth' as 'mouter' and change all 'th' sound to 'ter'! Horrible! That's a big problem.

May be different people have different expectation. ... I bet you;re talking about the Indian teachers. My son's Indian teachers in THINK are very ok. They have accent of course but to me it's completely acceptable. May be because I had came across many Indian teachers in my sec sch education in the past, whose accent was far far far far more heavy.

After all, parents in HK always think that Westerners (blue eyes, golden hair, white skin
) are more "qualified" as NETs rather than Asians / Chinese (even if they're native speakers). "Western" accents are more acceptable than "Asian" accents as well.
My friend, who is a Chinese brought up in Australia (= native speaker) said that she earned $200 less per hour as a private Eng oral tutor compared to her Australian friend, who has blue eyes, golden hair and white skin with similar work experience. We always joke that she better dye her hair, wear colour con and bleach her skin . hahaha

May be .. but then I had a sec sch Eng teacher who's actually a French (French is her mother tongue). Her accent isnt very pure too, but she was more appealing to parents than other Asian teachers. We all agreed that she's a "NET" but in fact she;s not a native Eng speaker ...

then it also depends on what kind of accents you can really accept. May be "heavy" American / Scottish accents is still more acceptable than "slight" Indian / Singaporean accents.
THe discussion here also reveals that different people have different definition of "heavy" accent. Your very first message seemed to tell me that the accent that the teacher has is completely unacceptable. But from my interaction with those Eng teachers at my son's school, I just think the "problem" is not as serious as you said... in fact ..not a "problem" at all.
afterall ... there is no right or wrong. Just we all have different demands and expectation on our kid's English teachers
