I would like to know what kind of questions will CDNIS ask during the interview for the pre reception entry?

Dear gigilee,
I also applied CDNIS for pre-reception. Did you receive any call/letter for interview? I haven't received anything yet, not even the acknowledgement letter.
Do you know the probability of successful application?

Hi,

I submitted the application in April and received the letter of acknowledgement in early Sept. I don't think they have started the assessment test yet.....

From their website:-
"Interviews/tests for Pre Reception, Reception Class to Grade 2 applicants received up to October 31 prior to the entering year will be scheduled in January/February."

I have already received the acknowledge letter. I remember that they will call the interview at around Jan/Feb 2010.

Hi All,

Are you interested in organizing some playdates and let our sweeties know each other before the interview?

We heard that the pre-reception interview would be taken place in small groups, just like they go to kindy. It would include singing, listening to stories, drawing...etc.

Hopefully, if we have same interview date, our sweeties wouldn't be too nervous.

I found the admission of most int'l kinders comes late. Does anyone know the chance for a non-Canadian kid be accepted?

Hi Greenspring,

When we submitted the form at CDNIS, the staff told us that the admissions officer would contact us after deadline of application, ie 31st Oct 2009. Maybe they will call us soon.

There are two pre-reception classes, one in the morning and the other one in the afternoon. The average class varies in size between 20 - 24 students.

We're also worried that our little girl would be too shy and cling to us.

Hi everybody,
I called the school and they told me that the interview will be taken place in Feb 2010. By that time, our kids may be more willing to talk to the strangers.

To everyone interested in CDNIS,

Just to let you know, Manulife offers a scholarship of CDNIS to her staff and clients. I applied for that for my son in 2008, not sure if it's still be available now and next year though. Usually they will advertise on newspaper and their website in March/April. You need to be a Manulife client/staff and your kid got passed the CDNIS assessment first. Manulife has secured few 'seats' from CDNIS, so once you got the scholarship, you got a place too. Otherwise, your kid might pass the assessment but still being put into their waiting list.

Yes, the second part doesn't allow parents to get in. And the interview is in Jan, not Feb....

Interesting to know that Manulife client can apply the scholarship. BTW, what are the criteria eligible to apply for such scholarship. I mean from which aspect I can get the scholarship, e.g. based on how much insurance/investment products I buy in Manulife or still need to look at kids' performance and have assessment??

It does not matter how much u bought with Manulife. Ur kid must ag least pass tge assessment, the school will send his scores to Manulife. U also hv to submit a 'portfolio' or form abt ur son's school report cards, extra curricular activities and achievements and parents' involvement (I suppose volunteer work at school, PTA, etc.). I don't know what exactly they expect ur scores in order to grant the scholarship though. Hope this helps.
