How should the parents explain the kid's absence from school for the P1 admission interview(s)? I guess the primary school he/she currently attends would not expect nor approve the kid to apply for leave due to this reason. Any sharing would be appreciated.

I wonder if you already studying P1, Those your child had good performance will the school give you the (P1)seat again ?

If my child can enter into good P1 and get good performance and stuying happy. I will keep going to the existing one for sure !

i asked the same question to my daughter's kindergarten headmistress, and her advice is unless kid born in Dec, otherwise, it seems a bit of wasting time for the kid to repeat one year and I agree.
Besides, she's been very straight forward saying that in fact, she heard that there are more cases this year small kids were offered 2nd interview by SPCCPS, so, we have to think twice whether the 'rejection' was due to small kid or other reasons.
I guess it really depends if you really feel that those famous local school is your kid 'cup of tea'

I believe I will try applying for P2 of some famous local school if my girl gets good grades at her own school.

I wonder if I will let her repeat P1 coz I just don't know how to explain to her. It will make her feel bad about herself???

And, it may be too cruel to the kids to move from one school to another after they have built up friendship for a year. It will be more difficult to adapt to the new environment in the new school as friend groups will have been formed there, and she may feel lonely and being isolated.

If 細 B gets good grades in P1, it may be worthwhile to try P2 in "famous" schools. But if 細 B gets poor grades, no point trying as "famous" schools won't consider anyway.

If she is happy with her coming P1 school, i will let her stay there. If she performs super well, then i will try to let her apply P2 of those famous school.

afterall, it depends on her performance and the most important think is she has a balanced and happy school life.

The problem is P1 application process usually starts in or before September, so you still do not know how your kid performs in his/her current primary school. So does the school(s) you want to apply for. The school(s) can only assess him/her with the same sets of criteria they apply to other kindergarten kids.

If he/she performs exceedingly well, of course you can apply for a P2 seat in your target school. But when you realise that your small child lags behind, there will be no more P1 places available except repeating in the same school, which will be even worse than repeating P1 in another school.

thanks for pointing out ... i didn't time it right...
in this case, maybe i should apply again for a 2nd chance and this is the only way to know whether we have an opportunity to choose between the 2 schools.
On the assumption i have the offer, by the time Sep 2011 school year starts, I will also know my girl P1 performance and to make a better decision!
