- parents waited outside the interview rm
- two girl went into the room together
- as my girl's blur description, she said that the other girl that was with her was interviewed by the headmistress, and she was interviewed by a teacher (so I think the headmistress and another lady were inside the room, but don't know how they decided who interviewed which girl)
- only 2 simple Qs were asked, her name and her school name
- asked her to describe a picture
-then both girl came out of the rm together within 10 mins

so I think may be my girl failed already? she wasn't interviewed by the headmistress...........

I really don't know what happened inside........ cos' in the past, ppl said that only the principal interviewed all the girls......... anyway, I don't have any expectations for my girl to get in........:(

that was what my girl told me. She is a blur blur girl..... I don't know if she missed anything that haven't told me........ I think may be they see how the kids described the pic to see their ability of expression? or may be the headmistress asked a different set of Qs? And I don't know what is the identity of the other lady...... teacher? vice principal? or? It's just a lot of mysteries.....

1. Yeah, just before she went inside the rm with the girls and brought them out at the end (parents just waited near the door of the room). So parents just had chance to say gd morning and good bye

2. she just told me that the other girl was seeing ms dai and she was interviewed by a lady (she thinks that is a teacher)

3. yeah, we entered the campus and just waited outside the room

she knew how ms dai look like. Cos ms dai was the one came out of the room and brought the two girls inside in front of the parents. But didn't know that there is one more lady inside the room before my girl told me

May be cos' she is a blur blur girl. She only knew Ms Dai so she thought the other one must the teacher (nobody confirmed with her, it's just her guess). She said that after they went into the room, the lady inside will guide them to say, "gd morning, ms dai!" together before they were interviewed.......

I asked my girl if she could here what the other girl was asked by the headmistress, she just said that she didn't take notice.......

I guess the lady is the vice-principal, coz Mrs. Dai's first post with dgjs is vp.

just to share the experience.
1. Registration upon arrival
2. Wait for calling to interview
3. 2 girls in a group
4. Mrs Dai will come out and pick up the kids
5. Kids in rm will play a "lucky draw" the one who pick a "Tick" sign can choose to chat with Mrs Dai first or read the book first
6. 4 questioins in chinese
   - Name
   - Which school is studying
   - Home address
   - Description on a pic
7.  Go to read the story book and the other girl do the same thing
8. Kids are both interviewed by Mrs Dai, and the other lady just stay in the rm (I guess the other lady also doing the interview by observing the kid when studying.
8. Mrs Dai take both kids out
9. You may use the 20-30 seconds to say "Hi" and "bye" to Mrs Dai.. But I do feel Mrs Dai also using this short time to observe the kid's parents
10. The number of girls to be interview, I guess around 336 if only 7days (nov 2,3,5,6,9,10,12) because
   2 girls in a group for a 15mins interview
   8 girls per hour, and I see their morning schedule is until 12:30 (starting from 8:30). I guess they will use 6 hour per day for interview and so the total girl per day will be 48 and 7 days means 336 max. and so the ratio will be around 1:3.
That's what I can share and hope others can also be more open minded and share their experience.
I may say there will be no harm to each single kid because the pic are different for each pair (a staff get an enclosed pic before she lead you to the interview).
Besides, my personal feeling is Mrs Dai is quite fair, especially for this year's interview because she is not the only person for the selection. I think she does not have to play games (just seems to be fair) because if she want, she can go back to the previous interview mode and make the decision by herself. She absolutely has such authority.
Anyhow, good luck to all potential DGJS parents though nobody knows who will be the one..

The story books are both English and Chinese and it's upto your kids to choose. I think it's just for your kids to kill the time or the other lady just observe whether your kids like studying or not.. Coz I understand that DGJS likes girls reading books

1) Agree that the book reading was for killing time instead of part of the interview. No one is actually giving marks for this section.

2) I think the format of every group is slightly different. My girl played a different game. She won and chose to do talking first. She said she talked to both Mrs Dai and the other lady inside. I think both of them are decison maker that for those only interviewed by the other lady, there should be equal chance.

Generally speaking, the flow and format of the interview is same as last year.

I asked my blur girl again. This time she told me that she had played the cloth, stone scissors game before she was interviewed. But she lost, so she was interviewed by the lady and the other girl was interviewed by ms dai....... And I asked again if she had a chance talk to ms dai, she said, "no" and told me that the whole thing was done by the lady with her..........

Personally, I think those who can enter the 2nd interview have no much differences. At least they passed the min. requirement. Therefore, applying our adult's world for interview, first sight will score more than 50% (sometimes upto 70%). The rest depends on the actual performance during the interview and the expectation of the interviewer. If there is not much differences, this candidate is almost on the list. Therefore, I would say to prepare the kids and yourself to give Mrs Dai a good first sight is quite important. I dont mean you have to show off yourself because for Mrs Dai, I think she know this much more than us. Just ample dressing and dont do anythings that make her feel you are "acting" for the interview would be important. But that's just what I think only.

My girl had 2nd intervire this morning...she told me that only one teacher, Mrs Dai, was in the room for the interview. When one girl was interviewing by Mrs Dai, then the other girl was reading the book.

Nothing's changed. Last year, and the previous year's p1 interview at DGJS were the same format and same mixture.

The only additional thing was there was a FIRST round of group interview to "filter" out some applicants.

Hi! My bably girl interviewed yesterday at 2:00 and she said she was asked three simple questions by the lady other than the lady who welcome her (Mrs Dai). But she did not have to describe the picture. Why? Why? By the way, she said Mrs Dai was quite busy in doing her document and looking for something. I have been waited for 45. As the interview process went very smoothly, I think everything should be on schedule. Just wonder why we needed to wait for 45 min.

we attend the interview on 2 Nov.  both parents allowed to go to campus. We register in one room.  There are books to read.  A staff took us up the stairs and waited at another floor.  Then, two kids were taken to a room to see Ms Dai.
They played paper, scissor and rock.  The one who wins chose who to start first.  My daughter lost and she was asked by another candidates to wait.  My kid reads books while Ms Dai was talking to another one.
When it was her turns, she was asked her name.  Then, she was to describe the differences as to colour and patterns she spotted on two easter eggs.  All in Cantonese.
The interview last 10 minutes.  Ms Dai came out with the two kids.  She glanced at the parents of the kids.

My daugther said only Ms Dai was there asking questions.
Ms Dai was busy attending to other candidates, so she did not have time to shake hands or talk to any parents.
But she would look at the kids going back to their respective parents and observed the behaviour of the parents and the kids.
While we are waiting outside the room, there was a staff waiting outside, too.

My girl had her interview this afternoon. Only Mrs. Dai was doing the interview. We waited in a room for 45 mins before my girl is called. The format and interview questions are exactly the same as previous dates. My girl and her partner stayed in the room with Mrs. Dai for around 10mins. A really quick interview. When Mrs. Dai brought the kids back, she did look at the parents.

I chat with the mother of my girl's partner while we are waiting, and found that her girl was born in 2003. However, my girl was born in late Nov 2004. What a big contrast! Her girl is much taller than mine, and more, she looks very matured and behaved, while my girl just could not stop moving around! My husband said, "God bless us!"

我的小朋友也是今早去見, 原則上, 情序亦和之前家長提供的差不多.. 亦只是問了幾个簡單的問題,而只有戴校長一個, 但發覺到的是在對文件時, 我己看到application form 的右上角己用紅筆寫了 E Dai ... 不知是否只是標記為己閱讀呢?

I think it's really difficult to say at this moment and only Mrs Dai knows the answer. Put it other way round, may be those who do not interview by Mrs Dai mean she already accept this candidate and so no need to interview again...
So, I think until Dec 19, nobody knows the final result.
Hope can share the result by then, no matter successful or not..

Frankly speaking, I like dgjs and st. paul co-ed only, but has failed with the latter one. Sacred Heart in HK Island is also a good choice to me, but it seems to far for my kids to travel everyday from kln side. will try anyway. Just cross my fingers for dgjs.. wish dec 19 will come quickly!

People said that Good Hope is also a good choice for girls on the Kowloon side. Cos' it's connected to their secondary school and the academic aspect is also strong. SH is a good school but the students tend to have a lot of homework. Honestly, I just treated DGJS as a lottery and I don't use to have those kind of luck, haha. My girl loves St Stephen's College, but we haven't got any acceptance letter yet..... sigh

My kid applied several school, GH, DGJS, SPCE, SF, etc but no info so far. I think SPC already dead and just wait for the others.However, heard that GH and SF have sent out their acceptance letter but I havnt received and so a bit nervous now..

Don't know why the application of DSS and private schools are so competitive. My girl's five friends applied for HKUGA, two of them have brother and sister studying P.2 already, but they are only on top waiting list!!! And the other three are just on normal waiting list............... This year, so many parents applied DSS and private schools for their kids........sigh

Let me share the interview today.

(1) Registration, went to a waiting room
(2) Went to another waiting room, girls reading, parents sat down. One staff was inside observing, she checked the documents as well. Wonder she gave any mark to girls who read with concentration.
(3) Went up to 1st floor, waited outside Mrs. Dai's room.
(4) 2 girls came out, then my girl & another girl went in.
(5) 2 girls played 包剪揼, the one who won could choose to talk to Mrs Dai or read books first.
(6) My girl won, so questions were asked:
- Name
- Address
(7) A pic (a finished artwork) was shown to her, she needed to tell the procedures of making that piece of artwork (not sure what, sth like a mouse made by paper).
(8) Ask her Daddy's job.
(9) The other girl's turn.
The timing was exactly 15 mins. Mrs Dai seemed a bit tired, I guess she really has to see many girls in a day. She did not stare at the daddies too much. People said the longer she stares at the daddy the better.
I think it is really hard to get in. Some people said 1 out of 5, some said 1 out of 3. I don't know what.

Thanks for sharing. In my case, Mrs Dai did not ask my job but I really notice that Mrs Dai did pay some time to look at the parents. May be this can give her some insight on the family or with some other reasons...But I do recommend to go with parents

Frankly, this may be important because from this, the school will know how do you place your children. For me, I took the holiday and told my company that this was a must. So hope you will think this again and I think it's a matter of do it or not. One more experience can share with you was on the day my kid attended the interview, Mrs Dai did not look at the other kid's mother at all (only the kid's mum attended) and used most of time to look at us and how we interacted with my kid. So please try best to bring your second half to the interview.

During the interview on last friday, the other girl that has the interview together with my daughter are having her mom there as well. I noticed that Mrs Dai did stare to her more than our both. This is a must! It is about your child's education. Have a sick leave. You will find most of the other kids go with both parents, if you don't, you will feel bad. Today there was only one kid (out of 6) who only had her mother with her in the waiting room. Her mother looked miserable...Think again...

My girl had the interview last Friday. Her partner also had her mom with her only. She told her mom after the interview that Mrs. Dai asked why daddy cannot come today. That means Mrs. Dai cares.
