How many 直資 or private schools are allowed to be applied? Are they applied before or after filing the form of 自行派位?

You can apply to as many DSS or private schools as you want, but there are application deadlines to most of the schools. And the deadline for applying to a government or aided school is Oct 2.

你想apply幾多間都得 (直資+私立)
不過留意, 直資有收政府支助, 所以學生一但去直資註冊, 就要簽承諾書即時放棄政府派位, 無論當時去到邊一個階段 (不過可以最後去叩門)
私校就一間間, 有d俾繼續申請政府派位, 有d唔得
至於申請時間, 小朋友k2下學期要開始留意了, 有d好早的, 多數係8-10月(個別唔特別搶手就anytime都收生)

報幾多間都得, 不過都要睇小朋友情況, 報太多小朋友interview都好大壓力同好疲累.

If your child likes repetition and you treat some interview as trials / mock interview, you can apply more.
I know some parents applying 12 schools to play safe (just in case some interviews clash) and to warm up her kid.
For me, 5 is the maximum.
