各位父母您們好,
以下是本人為女兒報讀北角明慧幼兒園(2歲班)的經歷, 想藉此發表, 希望各位想為自己的子女選讀此教育機構前能有一點啟示...
去年2008年, 我為女兒揀選了報讀此幼兒園(國際班)及蘇浙, 明慧取錄了我女兒, 而蘇浙只是後補生關係, 於是我在2009年2月在明慧交了校服費(約$600)及書本費(約$1300), 因當時如不繳交, 明慧便當放棄學位論, 就算之前我已交了留位費($660),但後來發現明慧是比其他幼兒園早了一個月收取這些費用的, 因為其他朋友報讀如維多利亞, 約克等等的幼兒園都是在2009年3月才收取此類費用。
到2009年5月, 明慧致電我通知可以取校服, 剛考蘇浙亦通知收錄了我女兒, 因蘇浙是我首選的幼兒園, 所以我即時致電明慧通知她們我的女兒要辦退學,並詢問有關校服費及書本費的退款問題, 當時接電話的剛巧是副校長, 她說書本費已經訂了, 不能退款, 但可以取回課本, 而校服費應該有機會退款, 並叫我傳真一封退學通知書給明慧,我照指示傳真後, 再致電明慧想確認她們有否收到我女兒的退學通知書, 但再接電話的是一位老師, 她說因傳真機是在校長室,而當時校長正在開會, 她問了我女兒的名字及聯絡電話後, 說如果收不到的話便會致電給我,我之後並没有收到明慧的電話, 所以便認為她們已收到了該退學通知書。
到了7月, 我再致電明慧, 接電話的是一位老師, 我表明是退學學生的家長, 問她課本及校服的退款何時可取回, 這位老師以肯定的語氣說: "校服及課本的費用都不能退款, 校服一直等你來取回, 課本要8月才有", 我當時並没有與這位老師爭辯, 因記得副校長說校服費用"應該"可取回, 並没有說"肯定"。心想: "算吧! 反正她們已準備了, 没錢退回也罷!" 唯有等8月連課本一起取回。
明慧今年是8月11日開課的, 我等到8月19日, 仍未收到明慧通知可取回課本, 遂又再致電明慧查問, 接電話的老師並不清楚, 她交了給副校長回覆我, 我當時向副校長投訴,為何開了學,我仍未收到通知有課本取回, 再查問下, 原來她們一直没有收到我傳真的退學通知書。 我質疑她們為何收不到我的退學通知書, 而我又一直没有取校服及没有在8月11日上課, 她們都没有致電查問, 副校長竟說因我當時在電話裡通知退學時她已記錄了!就是這麼簡單! 至於課本, 要8月尾才有, 所以一直未通知我, 我又再問有關校服退款問題, 副校長說:"校服給你你亦用不著, 而且那些校服可提供給剛剛新報名的學生,應該可退款" 並叫我留下名字為退款的支票抬頭用。
因我有一位朋友亦與我一樣通知了明慧退學, 故我8月20日將校服可退款一事通知她, 她在8月21日上午致電明慧查問, 接電話的老師又竟說校服及課本都不能辦理退款! 我朋友向那位老師說副校長回覆過她的朋友可以退款一事, 那位老師便叫我朋友留下姓名及電話, 會通知副校長致電回覆。但到今天8月22日, 我朋友仍未收到副校長的電話。
我並不期望8月尾(即下星期)可以收到明慧的電話通知可以取回課本及退款。
就以上的經歷, 我有以下幾點總結:
1) 為何2月已經收了課本費用, 已比其他的學校早了一個月, 但到開學了仍未有課本可取?
2) 為何校服可轉給剛剛新報名的學生而可以退款, 但課本就不可以? (雖然我再翻查課本的收據上確有寫明"已繳交的費用, 不可退款" 的字眼) 但我從朋友上得知,連 維多利亞退學都可取回90%的費用, 為何明慧不可以?
3) 由我致電通知退學後, 明慧就從來没有致電給我, 通知取課本的進度 (我認為她們在8月11日開學, 起碼應該在8月頭通知我課本要8月尾才有, 副校長解釋因開學老師都在忙。我對此解釋並不接受, 只覺得她們對退學的學長不尊重)
4) 為何明慧的老師及副校長的答覆不一致?她們不是有指引嗎?
希望我的經歷能給各位準備為子女揀選幼兒/幼稚園的家長有點幫助。
我自己對這間教育機構就十分失望!

本人亦受到欺騙，不公平、不公道、不公理的慘痛對待。
勸告有小朋友就讀中的家長小心，凡事問清楚，不要接受「可能」、「或者」等無稜兩可的答案。如未入讀的，亦無需放入考慮之列。

仲諗住幫呀女報呢間學校添.. 好在睇到你地既評價者... 多謝呀!! 不過我想問, 東區有邊D好既幼稚園呀? 我個女出年要讀書...到宜家都未諗到... 初初諗住報St Pauls既.. 但佢喺傳統教學... 我比較鍾意活動教學多D.. 因為女女坐唔定... 其實都有問過躍思同迦南.. 不過都唔知好唔好... 希望大家可以俾D意見我...

妳交得留位費買保險就預左冇得返，人地私立幼稚園打開門口做生意，又要鋪租、又要人工，如果個個家長都係咁，間幼稚園好快關門，唔使失望，妳子女都冇入去讀，讀過又或者妳會覺間幼稚園好得呢！（我都唔識人讀過所以我都唔知）

呢間學校我完全覺得係為了賺錢的, 我都係交了留位費後收到蘇浙取錄通知, 故即時放棄了他的學位。我沒有再交書簿費他們會找人打電話詢問是否忘記時間, 可以補交...感覺是收錢事宜跟得很足的!!!

小女現讀明慧k1國際班,由pn讀到而家。
有感這篇文章對這間幼稚園的評價並不公平,為此有所回應。
我認為一間幼稚園好不好,最重要是小朋友在學校生活中能否好好學習知識、培養好品德，以及每天都能快快樂樂地上學。
女兒讀的是國際班，由一位外籍老師及一位本地說普通話的老師做班主任。記得今年開學時,由於小女不懂普通話,初初上學都不敢和普通話老師說話,而她的英文則不錯,所以英文老師教的、要她做的,她都懂。有天普通話老師打電話給我，告訴我好在課堂中，也有與英文老師配合,讓我女兒明白老師要求,又告訴我不用擔心,小孩不久便會適應。果然,5個月過去了，現今小女在家中,能用簡單普通話跟我們對話,會唱普通話歌曲,用普通話說簡單的故事，老師說在學校,她因為聽得懂,說得出,連帶其他學習都進步了不少。
我覺得最終我女兒不再怕普通話,有此進步,絕對是因為老師的耐心和鼓勵,所以,我是很感激老師的。
至於外籍老師,應該是外籍華人,是很年輕溫柔的一位女士,常常面帶笑容，很懂得和小朋友相處,小女十分喜歡和她說話,而且每天聽著說,現在口音也都好像好了點(不會跟了家中姐姐的口音)。
至於副校長,雖然溝通機會不多,但有一件事讓我知道她很願意幫助家長。9月收到通告，告知12月會舉行學校旅行,當時大肚並將在10月生仔的我沒有報名,因怕身體虛弱不,體力不足以去旅行,但到了11月中,有感自己可以應付,又因為常常照顧bb忽略了女兒,很希望可以陪伴女兒參加,於是與副校長申請,但副校長表示所有旅遊巴及向有關機構的報名事宜已完成,臨時加插很困難,正當我以為冇機會參加又有點自責自己不能陪女兒時,學校打電話給我，說幫我安排了位置,我很開心。後來才知原來原校新校加埋千多人參加,難怪副校長說有難度。
我覺得單以報名的事件去評定一間學校好與壞對學校並不公平,一定要多聽就讀學校的學生家長的意見才能比較了解一間幼稚園。
我也不敢下定論說這間一定是好幼稚園,但我可以說小女和我都很喜歡她的兩位班主任,她上學很快樂,英文和普通話比我認識的、主要用廣東話上課的幼園學生好。所以,雖然要付$35xx一個月學費,我不覺得不值,起碼可以慳番另外學英文同普通話的費用。

點解唔打去教育處問下佢地可唔可以咁早(早成半年?!)就收書簿費。
另外根據教處指引，家長有權唔跟學校買書簿同校服，而自行購買，所以唔可以用唔交哩d"雜費"就當放棄學位 (因為你確實交左留位費!!)去威脅家長。
如果我係你我會打去教育處"了解"一下，相信之後學校會變得好合作同主動聯絡返你。
好多"學校"會用唔同手法去問家長交錢，但實情係偷步，學校係好清楚自己唔可以咁做但係家長們通常都係信學校所以唔多追問，奈何學校o既管理層"記住又太差"成日都會唔記得，所以家長們不妨打去教處搵"尊人"提下佢地。

我阿b 今年in過9間學校n班，其中都有呢間，呢間俾我的印象好好，睇得出老師好喜歡細路仔。如果呢間收我阿b，我都會考慮讀... 不過依家仲係得waiting。

My son was born in 2009 and we are now interviewing with different schools of their pre-nursery section. Ming Wai (North Point) is one of our choices. I need to be frank, as parents nowadays, who wouldn't apply for a few schools for their kids? Everyone is having a 騎牛揾馬 attitude. For those parents with smart kids, they must be very happy having all those choices on hand and try to pick and choose which one they should go to. But for those parents like myself, who has just a "so-so" baby, who doesn't like to "perform" in front of the others, it's extremely difficult for us to find some "good" schools so to speak. Although I don't encourage the school asking for the up-front fees in advance, it's kind of "helping" the parents in another way. It implies if you are not interested and if you were only to safeguard a spot for your kids just in case, don't occupy the spot and leave them to other kids who really are interested. If you want to safeguard a spot, go ahead and pay! It's just business, simple as that.

我都覺得一間學校教得好唔好同佢係唔係商業化係兩回事
有啲學校學費收得貴
但唔代表佢教得好
我自己唔係有錢人
但係讀得直資嘅幼稚園
我預咗除咗學費之外
一定仲有其他錢要俾
不過最重要嘅係我希望小朋友可以喺學校學到嘢

My son will study N1 in North Point Mingwai in coming August, and we are now attending their Saturday playgroup.
Although I also feel that they ask for uniform fee and book fee to early, but I also found their teacher are very nice (during the Saturday playgroup). Personally I do not mind whether the school is commercial or not, I only concern whether the teacher are nice and whether my son enjoys he class or not.

Agree with 小冬菇 very much!
If these misc. fee is clearly stated non-refundable, once you decide to pay to secure your offer, then you should not expect you can get it back if you finally give up the offer.

Dear Snowball Chao, Thank you very much for your sharing... it seems to be a ray of hope in my eyes... My baby's just got accepted by MW IPG. I heard quite a number of good comments about MW. But your sharing really helpful to me. Agreed with other that it is a comercial school. given the chaotic HK education policy, comercial/private school is not a bad choice at all. Just i really don't have chance to join their open day and such. How's the school life of your girl? I saw that he has 3 entrance on 書局街. How do they work? do the kids need to cross the road during school time?

my girl studied ming wai pre-nursery before. in fact, it's a good school. my girl learned a lot of things there and had a very happy school life. i thought that it helped her a lot perform well in the kindergarten interviews. if my girl has enough points for P1 allocation, I'll definitely let her continue to study at ming wai instead of going to a 1-dragon school.
Now my naughty monkey boy goes to mingwai pre-nursery now. i also let him attend full-day class. Hope he can learn discipline from the school.
btw, school is a place for education rather than providing customer service. giving up offer (originally accepted) increases the school admin workload. if many parents do that, the school must be very busy. I'm sure that teaching and children are Ming Wai's first priority instead of customer service.

My son still cries every day, but the teacher said that he is getting better and better day by day. Since I need
to work I did not go to the school with my boy today, the class teacher called me at 3pm and tell me the situation of my son.
I appreciate this and hope that my son will keep improving.
Since my son is very shy and need more time to adapt the school, the teacher suggests my son only go to school 1-1.5 hours next week (instead of 2 hours as original schedule), I agree with their suggestion.

Once in a while, I put him into a baby sister group. the first time he cried so loud., then he seems to be got used to it. Just I am sure he will cry loudly in the 1st of Nov.
We are planning to go to the playgroup on sept. Is that good? What do you do?

But when the teacher hold his hand and walk into the classroom he stopped crying and say “wee wee”
The teacher is very good, our class teacher calls me everyday telling me my son’s situation (I think he is the most trouble one who keep crying in the class, haha).
Regarding the playgroup, the first 10 mins is free playing in the playground.
And then 20 mins dancing and some simple group game in the outdoor playground.
Next, go back to classroom, washing hands, and then story time and singing time for about 20 mins.
And then will split into 3 groups to play toys and do artwork activity. Then wash hands again and then eat snack.

Actually when we decided to pay the fees, we won't expect to get it back even we decide not to study there anymore.
Kindergarten is also a business, they need to pay the expensive rent, salary.......
Don't be disappointed about that, every kindergarten is like that ga la!

有茶點供應的, 不過只係餅干同水, 不過我個仔唔肯食佢地的餅呀 (適應班果兩日我見到係兩塊茶餅, 其實都幾好味的), 係都要食返自己食開果隻餅餅, 所以我地每日都用一個食物盒仔裝d餅仔返學.
我個仔, 肯定係今年新生最中喊得最勁的其中一個, 不過老師都好好呀, 差不多每天都有打俾我同我講返佢的情況. 我個仔呢, 我地係屋企同佢提起 Go to School, 佢唔會喊架, 仲成日無啦啦自己講”老師早晨”, 不過一返學就喊了. 佢可能有分離恐懼, 佢不停搵姐姐 (我個工人), 又成日要老師抱.

Yes my son is attending N1 now, local stream AM class. It is still too early to share/talk about the proportion of Eng/Can/Mand. The adapting class has just finished and there are still quite a lot of babies crying. I think the main job teachers are doing now is to help the baby to adapt school life, and to comfort them rather than teaching this and that ^^

If my memory is correct, this year N1 has 2 classes of local stream and 3 classes of international stream. There are 12 kids in my son's class. 返適應班時我有看看其他課室，每班好似都係12/13 人左右. 不過應該有D細B遲下會插班啦~

如果12人一班, 好像小班教學咁喎, 都不錯。小朋友學野都容易 d。

其實茶點除咗餅乾之外,其實日日都唔同款. 有時三文治, 麵包, 粥, 麥皮, egg, 水果 etc... 餐單每日貼咗係門口個board上面.

How come 書簿費 so expensive? Other schools charged under HKD1000 for PN.

書簿費$2060/學期 is for Internation Stream.
My son attends local stream 書簿費around $1600/學期 (I forget the exact amount la)

my daughter is studying at PN class, I satisfied with it generally.
Esp her class teacher, she call me oftenly not only to report my daughter's learning progress but also her social ability.
Their uniform & reading materials fees are quite expensive but the quality is good.

My son is sick and we did not go to school the wole week. I have called to school to tell them already, and his class teacher is also very kind to call me 2 times to week asking about my son's situation.
I can feel the teachers are quite nice and caring.

Hi, my girl is going to attend Ming Wai AM PN local stream class this coming August. May I ask how's their school bus service? I am still thinking if I should let her take school bus as she is still very little. Is it safe?

見到校車係紅van果啲size咁大嘅車
有一個姨姨(係二個...)
但一架車大概得8個小朋友左右
而啲老師都好緊張
一落車就會有幾個老師接啲小朋友
一個老師拖住二個入學校
