Dear all,
Our class teacher Ms. Lee called just now...saying that we need to bring 2 self-addressed envelopes with the kid's name on the right bottom corner.

Also, I'd asked about the photos to be submitted. Originally I'm considering to use the one taken in K1. Yet Ms. Lee suggested me to take a new one for my son coz the picture on the K2 assessment report is very important for future primary application.

Ms. Lee's voice sounds pleasant and energetic. Hope that our kids will have a happy school life in K2.

Ms. Lee of K2H is the BEST KV teacher!!! I am very sad, because today when she called me, I recognized her voice right away. She taught my elder daughter in K1. But now, my son got K2H and it is her as the class teacher.
However, I am quitting Kentville, so I am so sad that I found out Ms Lee was going to be my son's teacher !

K2H of 2009- you are very lucky. Ms Lee is the BEST teacher in KV.

My son is leaving Kentville because older sister graduated from K3 Kentville, and is now going to KCIS.

I think my kids are more suited for international school, luckily there is ONE spot for Caton in Reception.

I have many uniforms to sell.

My case is exactly the same!  I just found out the only 1H classmate from Ms. Lee's list when doing the registration.  Then when I asked my son if he knows that boy, he said "No" also.  When I talked about this with the other 1H's mami, she also said she has never heard about that boy's name!

From what I know, 4-5 kids from 1H are assigned to 2A & 2B...so jealous!

The 2 teachers look very experienced but humorous.  Before yesterday, I'm afraid that K2 teachers will be very serious and strict but now I'm relieved!

Yesterday we met the driver of our route.  She told me that a coach instead of the 28-seated bus will be used for our route this year.  I'm a bit worried if it's safe or not...

Also, seems that parents need to pay greater efforts this year in helping our kids' study.  Even though I'm a full-time mom, I can feel the pressure.  Let's try hard together this year!

I wondered if those from 'same class' are from Kent Road campus.
My kid took coah last year, frankly speaking it does not look as 'safe' as van. 4 students have to sit in a row of 3 seats, but the coach is not full. May be this arrangement helps the teacher to take care of the students.

Today my son showed me the "ice-cream" mash mallow immediately after getting off from the school bus. Seems that he was very happy in school.
He told me that Ms. Lee had written the capital letter "A" on the blackboard and Ms. Suen will review the Chinese 一 with them later.

My son said they haven't 分組...he's sitting at table 1 now. Yet, he couldn't tell me the names of those classmates in table 1. He just mentioned "Wong Cheuk Long" (the one who should be from 1H but my son doesn't know him!) as he's absent today.

My son really finished all the water in his bottle. Thought that the teachers did ask them to finish all as said in the orientation.

My son also said they didn't go out to play today.

What about your kids? Did they tell you anything about today's school life?

Seems that they haven't yet 分組...my son is still in table 1. He said Lawrence is on his RHS and Chloe on his LHS. My son keeps telling me some names these 2 days which sound funny (I can't figure out the words coz he doesn't say it properly). He told me that they are twins but I think he just has silly talks.
Today they had watched a video about swine flu. The teachers reminded them to be hygienic to prevent from having swine flu.

Also, they'd played 配字遊戲 (reviewing the K1 Chinese words) and that's why they got biscuits from the teachers.

They'd reviewed & written letter "A" and Chinese "一" today too.

To my surprise, my son doesn't feel tired and didn't sleep on the school bus when returning home. What about your kids?

Seems that there are higher standards on discipline for K2...

Yes ar!  My son said Group 1, 2 & 3 from day 1.  I thought that's the preliminary grouping as the group names are so generic...

BTW, any one of you take the kids to school?  Really want to hear more about what they're doing after getting into the classroom.

My son told me that they'll put the water bottles to the "black shelf" after saying good afternoon to Ms. Lee & Ms. Suen.

This morning just found that one of my son's pencils belong to 陳梓旻.  Maybe they had taken the wrong one after finishing the classwork.  Yet, my son doesn't know who is 陳梓旻.

Hi all,
Today they'd played the 號數遊戲...each of them needed to speak out their class no. and they could then get a candy from the teachers. Apart from the Ribena gummy got home today, my son said they'd eaten 1 "ice-cream cone" candy in school. But I really doubt coz I think the teachers would ask them to ask mommies first b4 eating candies.

Finally my son recognises Wong Cheuk Long who is from K1H also. My son gets used to call him Javon Wong b4. He told me that Javon went to school today (absent for 2 days?) and cried (because he's not feeling well?).

A new rhyme learnt today:

Btw, the school bus arrives on time now after being late for a few days.

Can you kids finish all the water in the bottle? Except the 1st day, my son just drank a little bit of water in school (I just pour in about 150ml of water). I asked if Ms. Lee requested them to finish all the water. He answered me, "there's no enough time" or "Ms. Lee said we can drink the water at home". As the weather is hot, I'm just afraid he drinks too little water...

yup, i agree, it is great that our chat room has such a high participation rate. We should keep each one updated on what is going on inside the classroom. Given my daughter is not used to "no afternoon nap", she fell asleep on the school bus as well. Hopefully, she can adjust very soon.

English: Ms. Lee told them that the baby of captial "A" is small "a". They'd reviewed capital "B" also.

Btw, seems that Ms. Lee emphasizes a lot on their pronounciation...my son said Ms. Lee taught them reading, "a banana is yellow"...telling them that "a" should not be read too hardly. My son demonstrated to me and sounded good (the whole sentence was read in a very native way).

My son also said Ms. Lee had read the book of "幼稚園".

Tonite I arrived home late and Calix had slept already (actually it's Por Por who told me about his homework). So I didn't have chance to talk to him about what happened in school today. Now I understand more about your feeling...it's hard for full-time moms to ask about/know our kids' school life...

thanks to everyone, otherwise, I would not know whether it is one side or both sides. As you know, kids sometimes are quite forgetful. When they come home, they may not remember what teachers said inside classroom.

Got some updates from my son this morning about yesterday's schooling:

- recited a Chinese rhyme (with body movement, very cute!):

My son said they'd done grouping today. He belongs to 星星組.
My son told me the followings but don't know how true it is. What about your kids? Which group do they belong to?
星星組: Calix, Max, Ethan, 劉浩輝...
太陽組: Lawrence, Paco...
月亮組: 心妍...

They'd art & craft lesson today...making a human-shaped work (with their own face).

My son was very happy today coz they had played in the tree house. He said they need to wave hands to other classmates & teachers even if they are not in the same class (he mentioned 1A, 2D, 2O, 2I...).

Also, the teachers told them not to see mamies & daddies going to toilet...boys should not see girls going to toilet and girls should not see boys going to toilet. Start to have sex education...haha!!

My son also said they need to 起立...then say, "Ms. Lee午安, Ms. Suen午安, 各位小朋友午安！"

Also the teachers taught them to say， “2009年x月x日星期x" everyday.

P.S. should be 高崇熙...and 葉楚翹 is in K2D instead of K2H. She's also on Red school bus as my son.

My son was born in August. I would say he has a good memory instead of being smart. Also, as I'm a FTM, I have a lot of time to chat with him.

What a coincidence! Most of our kids are in 星星組. Hope they can be good friends soon!

Today they'd reviewed & read aloud A to F according to the A-Z alphabet card..."capital A, small a, an apple, an aeroplane...etc."

The Chinese word card "晴" was taught.

They played in the tree house today again. My son said 高崇熙 hurt herself when playing in the tree house. I asked if the teachers brought her to have first-aid and he said they put a band-aid on her face.

My son told me that Max was from K1E and there's a kid called Bosco.

My son is called Max Ko, he was stayed in K1I before. This is my 1st day to visit K2H Chatroom as quit busy in this coming 2mths.

Yes, they need to take the A-Z alphabet card to school everyday (put it inside the folder). My son got a sticker on the A-Z card on the 1st day after lamination (I think Ms. Lee tried to reward those who remembered to laminate and take it to school). Then he got the 2nd sticker on the card last Friday.

My son said they'd reviewed and read aloud G & H last Friday. Ms. Lee asked them to review at home this weekend. I'm happy that my son will ask me to have revision with him after finishing his homework. Hope that he can maintain this learning attitude throughout K2.

My son mentioned the names of 吳詠琳 and 廖華欣。

My son said Max is sitting next to him in 星星組. I just realized that Max Ko = 高崇曦 but my son told me b4 that 高崇曦 is a girl! So did your son really hurt his chin when playing at the tree house? Hope he's OK now!

It's great that we have 2 experienced mamies with K3 boys here. Hope we can learn more about applying primary schools with you in future!

My son suddenly said I "forgot" to give him a photo to school (actually he didn't tell me b4 but he just recalled this suddenly!). Yet, he couldn't tell me exactly what kind of photo is requested by the teachers. So I asked him to ask Ms. Lee again tmw for the details (but he showed an unwilling face...maybe he's afraid the teachers know that he didn't listen to the instructions clearly, haha...).
Did your kid ask you for the photo?

it is heard that some class teacher start telling kids to prepare "show & tell". Maybe the photo is for this.

i have to ask my son about this tonight.

My girl asked me for her baby photo, and later said she need a family photo. So i asked if she need 1 or 2, and i just took out the album let her bring to school today. But she did not mention anything about 'Show & Tell'.

昨晚功課有 (1) 英文 - "C" 字, (2) 中文 - "工" 字.

By the way, there is a 3rd exercise book pasted with Chinese words on 3 pages in the middle. My girl wrote some simple Chinese characters on p.1, and she said there is no homework for this exercise book. Anyone knows what it is for?
