My daughter is going to be in P.6 (2009-2010) this September, I am wondering how to fill in the second choice of applying secondary school. My daughter is now in band 1 group and I expect her to be promoted to secondary section. 1) What if I fill in the second choice and was admitted by another school? Does it mean Bye-bye to MCS? 2) If I fill only one choice, ie, MCS, if somehow, she suddenly perform badly in exam, then the fate will be decided by the lucky draw. Can any mum share their experience about the issue?

If MCS is your sole target, you should not fill in the second choice in the 1st round.

Completely understand. Since your girl is in A group, just keep on encourage and support her, she should be OK. Add oil. Mine is going to P.5 in September, I have no idea which group she belongs. This make me worry a lot.

Received the report today, band A, that means position within 95, sure to get admitted by secondary section. Relieved.

But I saw a mom cried after receiving the report, I felt sorry for her.

Yet, I feel the sch should arrange the parents' talk early because quite a number of parents expressed that 2-3 days is too short the time to consider how to complete the form indeed.

Also wanted to know the overall requirement, heard that over 85 needed for "main" subjects and at least 80 for "minor" subjects, true?
"main" subjects only Chinese, English and Maths?
Will be my turn next year !!

May I know how many % of existing p.6 students can be accepted by MCS (Secondary Section) every year?

Apart from band A, is there still band B and C? How to define to group?

"Band A = position within 95" means 48% will be Band A? About 1/2 instead of 1/3, sounds as a positive news.

Will the parents be told about the range of position to be classified as "Band A" at the parent meeting?

The banding of MCS is not equal to the public banding, that's why it is not 1/3. We have total 6 groups : A, A-, B, B-, C & C-. You will be told about the grouping information during P.5 parents' meeting and you will know your girl's group when you receive the reports in P.5 & P.6.

GROUP A 是全級頭80-90名,今年大約不少於140升中學,C頭都可以上中學,C-就很難說,不過聽聞部份C-都能上是因校內成績一時失手,/課外活動表演很好.校長寫信幫手等.想知道能不能升中學,當填報中學時老師會告訢同學,如能升中學便教甲部只填mcs,其它都溜空,乙部頭一定是mcs....,
如不能上中學部份選真光,女拔,出國等.
