My daughter is 13 months old now but she has not started to walk yet, she can hold the sofa and stand up only and she cannot talk. I am worried about if she is able to take Dec interview at Hong Kong Preschool?
Also, not so many pre-nursury schools (2 years old) is available. I only know HK Preschool and Keen Mind at Kowloon Tong.

Don't worry about your daughter not walking. All kids develop differently. One day to your surprise, she'll be walking, even running. :) Just be patient. As for schools, have you considered Montessori style education? They usually start taking kids at 18 mos.

I think I will request my housemaid to send my kid to school instead of taking school bus. I plan to let my kid study N1 at Kowloon Tong because no N1 in my district.

我住東區, 而家都煩緊報咩N1, 因為阿囡係0810 bb, 所以好多間都要出年11月先可以插班. 我會報Victoria PN (唔洗插班) 同埋蘇淅(要插班), 次選啟思/迦南 (近屋企同埋要插班)! 另外可能都會報埋寶山, 不過就遠d!
其實都好睇你想唔想小朋友讀國際學校, 如果諗住讀就報tutor time / woodland etc.
今年年頭已經報左Victoria playgroup, 到而家都未聲氣, 如果阿囡到一歲都無位, 我就會同佢報tutor time Toddlers Activity Group (1-2 years old), 希望對入N1有幫助啦! (不過我唔會報tutor time nursery)
如果去九龍就多d choice, 不過nursery 要去咁遠好辛苦!

Wow, your B is very smart. Was his speech very good already at 22mos? My BBs are still leeleelurlur mostly and get very shy in front of strangers....sigh...worry about their performance at interview. Any advice?

My daughter has joined playgroup at Tutor Time Wow Kowloon Tong since 8 months old, but I plan to apply nursury at HK Preschool Kowloon Tong this year. I hope she can walk and talk before Dec.

Indeed, does anyone know the difference between Anfield and Tutor Time? I am hoping to enroll into these 2 nursery plus Yew Chung, YMCA, Victoria too. I have no idea about Anfield because I was very lucky when I applied for Tutor Time Wow playgroup first time, I did not need to wait for any vancancy available. My daughter has studied there since 8 months old, now she is 13 months old and still studies there every Saturday.

So far as I know, Tutor Time is from USA and Anfield is based on the Foundation Stage of the British Early Years National Curriculum, most of Anfield's kindergarten students go to ESF

My daughter enrolled the class is once a week, tution fee is HK$1680 per month. You may call to Tutor Time for detail.

Since we plan to get the boys to local school, therefore, international stream may not be appropriate for them.....

Our Girls are a bit older so we've already started teaching them shapes, colours, fruits, body parts, matching, etc. Just basic stuffs....

my son is going to victoria playgroup since this june 09, and will continue in sept 09. i think i will enroll him with victoria 'cos not many kindergarten offer PN. for kindergarten, some of my other choices are 'so chit', skh, st margaret's church, and of course victoria.

my son just turned 18 months old yesterday. my helper and myself have taught my son some simple body parts like eyes, nose, ear... colors like blue, red, green, yellow; fruits like apple, banana, orange... he can pronounce some of them, if not, he can point / show to us where is it.

Thanks yhmommy! I plan to join Saturday class at Breamer Hill. I also want her to attend twice a week but I live in Siu Sai Wan and I do not want her to take school bus ar! So I can only bring her on Saturday! O, we cannot be classmate la!!!

my boy is a 0810 baby and will join the tutor time activity group this sept. I have taught with some teachers in this school and found that they are quite enthusiastic in their teaching. One teacher even had her own son study in Tutor time. But I should admit that the tuition fee is quite expensive.

My baby is 0809 boy, I've applied Victoria HMT playgroup (weekdays) 6 months ago, and just last week I've called that there are still around 30kids waiting before my application. If you intend for weekend class, then even a longer time to wait.
Except for Victoria, I haven't apply any other like Tutor Time or Anfield, so I'm afraid it will be a bit late to do that as it seems that there are so many babies in the waiting list.

My kids attended Victoria PG, Woodland and Tutor Time. My older one also interviewed for Victoria PN and K1 etc. My opinion is I did not like the Victoria PG at all, and cancelled after just one month as the class had absolutely no structure and was very chaotic. Plus the school campus (North Point) was really small.
I liked both Woodland and Tutor Time. Woodland is 100% english and TT is 1/2 english 1/2 putonghua. To me, I did not really care which one, just picked the one that was closer to our home for each of my kids (we moved in between).
As for Victoria PN interview, they had several teachers in the room, allowed one parent to accompany each child into the classroom. The teachers will observe the kids, as well as talk to the parents in both chinese and english. Then one teacher brought in a big story book and asked the kids to circle around and listen. They also played music to see how the kids reacted. And yes, they also asked the kids to point out diff. colors and shapes.
Actually, now that I think about it, the Victoria PN and K1 interviews were very similar!

One more thing to add - based on what I observed, it is best to send the kids to playgroup starting at 1.5 years old. Too young, they had no idea what's going on and therefore no interest.
I think letting the kids attend playgroup for a few months before nursery interviews will greatly help with their performance, since you do not want them to step into a classroom for the first time only when it is time for their interview!!

其實大部份N1 或 K1 都會在每年九月至十一月期間報名，你要想想報邊間然後打去問幾時報名及面試。你囡囡係細女，要找一d會收細女的學校報會好d，因有d學校唔鍾意細囝細囡

My girl was born in 0810. I have called the Breamer Hill campus and they said I need to be put on waiting list. Therefore I join the Red Hill campus already and will start in Sept. Actually it takes the same time for me to drive from my home to both Breamer Hill and Red Hill campus. My girl will be 11 months old when she starts, hope she enjoys la!!!!

最近BK好慢, 少咗上黎UPDATE...
My twin boys are now 18 months old, I let them join JW tumbles baby gym when they were 8 months old, then tried baby buddies and my music box. Then tried sun kids in Happy Valley which I found the content and teacher is quite good although the place is a newly opened one, not a famous one at all.
During that time my boys wait list for Tutor Time Bramer Hill were cleared so now they're attending TT Tag class on each Sat. My personal opinion is, TT is not bad but consider the fee they're charging, don't think it's worth at all. They have two sessions, 45 minutes in English and 45 minutes in PTW. Well, English class is OK but still too much free time for own activity; while PTW session is really a waste, as we spent nearly 30 minutes playing outdoor toys, meaning free time again !! Both my husband and I have the same feeling that paying nearly 1k a month (for 4 classes only) for two boys, we expect more than that instead of like we're paying the rental fee for their facilities. Therefore, have quit TT, will try the other one called Bambini in Tin Hau end Aug.
I've enrolled my boys to a PTW PG during weekday also..... BTW, nice to meet you all here !

twinsmummy, I believe you and I are friends already....added through facebook...your twins are one girl and one boy, right ?
The PTW playgroup my boys are going now is in Happy Valley, called Sunkids, which they attended their English playgroup before. Not bad at all as I'm thinking to let them expose to this language now, and I found them quite like it wor...especially PTW songs !

Are you live in Siu Sai Wan? My boy was born in 0801 (almost 19mths now). Are you ride on mini-bus to TT Red-hill Campus at Chai Wan MTR Station?
How about return?
Is it difficult to get in the mini-bus on the street?
I understand that TT Red-hill Campus just renovated and should be much larger than their Breamer Hill Campus.
Have you visited the Red-Hill Campus before join the playgroup?
Comments on TT are very positive, but a bit expensive to me.
Also, their location is quite inconvenience too.

I have exactly the same feeling for TT. I attened TT Kln Tong when they are nearly 1 years old & there are far too many free play time where no language will be learned. considering they are two times more expensive than the usual playgroup fee, we quited after two months. In fact one of my boys never attended any lession during the second month - there are two sat school holiday & anther two sat my boy was sick. - really wasting of money.
Please tell me if the one in Ting Hau is good cause I am moving to Tai Koo Shing & is trying to figure out which playgroup is good for my boys while not too far away.
How about the other twins girl mummy, how old are your girls?
I am thinking of Victoria harbour height for the N1 class, do you know how much is the school fee? I am now pregnant & expecting another baby girl coming Dec nei!

I have known two kids who are studying in the Red Hill campus but they are at least 1 year older than our babies :) and they attend twice a week so they probably won't be your daughter's classmates too la..

Hi ML_Ngan, to answer your questions:
1. Yes, we started but they are still a bit clueless and attention span of 30sec. We used the shape sorter and some books. No sign of success yet. 
2. we live on HK Island side so will apply for: So Jit, SPN and Victoria for nursery
3. So Jit form available on Sept 1 so i think they are the earliest

HI GAT, congrats on the 3rd baby. My girls are 19 months old. I looked at TT too but felt too expensive and not worth it. My girls are going to Montessori toddler program in Sept. Also got a call from Victoria Harbour Heights that they have a space for my girls - 2x/week playgroup. Very busy schedule for the girls in Sept.

1/ Yes, have started a while ago, just found out my younger twin boy can recog all 26 alpabets now, they also know what is circle, triangle, square. For alpabets, I let them watch Phonics everyday, then buy them the alphabet board; shapes and colours....learn from Barney..plus some books to go along with...
2/ We live in HK island, for boys, not too many choices. Will target so chit, SPN, Victoria and Cannan
3/ So chit will start on 1 Sep while Canna on 17 Sep
4/ Not at the moment

Hi Twinboys08, when did you sign up at Victoria PG? I sent the form in around Jan this year and just got a call on Friday they have 2 spots for Tues/Thurs class. Your younger boy is very smart! I'm not sure if my girls know the shapes - sometimes, they seem to know and sometimes not. How do you keep them concentrated to learn?

My daughter is 14 months old now, I buy some books and toys about shapes, colours, alphabets, numbers and animals, but she is not concentrated on my teaching, she has not yet walked along and she doesn't know how to speak, she only knows how to speak some single words such as pa pa. I am worried that she can speak and walk during interview this Dec.

Don't worry. My girls didn't really start to talk until 16-17months. They are still lee lee lur lur alot. Your bb is only 14mos so give her some time. Just read more stories to her and talk to her. I hope mine will concentrate more so they can learn better too. Add oil!

Same as you, my daughter is still attending Tutor Time Wow at Kowloon Tong. I intends to apply Hong Kong Preschool and Keen Mind, if she cannot be admitted by both nursery schools, I will let her at TT.

my son was born in Jun08. Start to think about N1. Dont know yet when these schools are open for application.
Some suggestions from my friends are:

Victoria
HKPS
But could you all share if you intend to send your kids to local school or int'l school for primary school?
What factors you would consider when choosing N1 or K1?
BTW, i live at TKO....any good choices you learn for N1?
My expectation is "good language skills" plus "interactive learning"

I applied the PG when the boys were 5 months old....the waiting list is very long as I specifically request on Sat only...as I want to take them there myself. So...keep on waiting and waiting.
About the shapes and colours...I bought those shapes with colour matching toys for the boys to play, they quite like it and just keep telling them what that it when they're playing. Also made some shapes with colours materials for them to flip at home lor ~ No worries, one day our kids will know anyway as they do learn fast !!
