My son is going to be P5 this Sept. He just got distinction in Violin grade 3 exam, and he wants to stop right here as he is really not very interested in it and I have to keep asking him to practice everyday. We are still struggling to drop it now and so he can do better in academic side and olympic maths.

Learning music instrument is not important. Only winning in a competition is important. Your son should focus on olympic maths.

I alway think music is for purpose of relaxation. Hope people change my mind.

I think unless he can at least pass the grade 8 exam for violin, otherwise, it won't be useful for applying secondary school.

On the other hand, a prize in the Olympic Maths Competition would certainly be more useful than a grade 3 distinction Cert.

以級數來說，3級真係冇咩用。不過睇你報咩學校，有些中學都要新生學樂器, 音樂科都要考樂器試。到時你仔仔又去學返小提琴嗎?
