I will be applying this school for my son this year. Can I know whether if I need to hand in the profile together with the application letter?

you mean the 'portfolio'!

I used to do like this:

1.  letter
2.  resume, (a brief of the applicants' education and others activities, his/her personality, strength and some certificates if have....)
3.  photos of his artwork..... or even family photos at some special event.. and copies of the school report and certificate...

anyway, it is my style, the most important is neat, tidy and easy to understand....
