Hi all

Heard from many forum said that SJ's workload is heavy and competition is high just like a battle. Projects after projects and exams after exams. My son needs to apply primary school on next year, so could you kindly give me some comment? I am a working mom so don't have much time to study with him every night. My son's charater is quite reliable on me. He always don't do his homework by himself until I come back home to do with him. Even he does him homwork, he writes couple words then talk 30 seconds and then write couple words then talk again.

. I have 20 marks and also know that it is a good school. I saw a P3 student (I guess) who read a very thick english story book in MTR last time. I also want my son can do that in the future. Please kindly comment.

阿仔現在讀St.Joe 二年班, 直至現在都未覺得功課太多, 一般都是每天4-5樣功課, 課程都是他們可以應付的, 起碼沒有如一些般教深1級.

嘩！「教深1級」嘅都叫做「一些般」??

你要現在train up 佢自己做完家課在你返到屋企前, 唔好坐在佢隔離猶豫同佢一齊做, 尤其是佢能力所及. 如不, 你一定很勞氣.
剛由kinder升上p1, 你點都要傍一傍佢, 始終比之前讀多幾科, 你就算幾忙幾夜返到屋企你點都要檢查佢的手册, 因佢哋要重新適應新環境新老師新同學, 難免錯漏百出.
p.1-p.3功課量都可以在0.5-2小時內完成, 當然要視乎當天的科目而定.
唔好比一小撮人嚇怕, 亦唔好逼仔仔一定要睇咁厚的書,會嚇怕咗佢. 偱最漸進, 佢能力得佢自然會做.
希望幫到你解除心中的疑問.

Thanks for information. From now on, after your guidance, I feel more comfortable..... at least it is not like my friend told me that every day, they have 7 & more homeworks.....

Then, how about exams, dictations. Is it very tight? Does every student need to have private tuitor?

Two exams and two quitz -- I personally don't think SJPS is asking too much.

Dictation for every two weeks time, alternate with English and Chinese.

Whether tutorial is requried really depends on you -- if you have time to check his homework.  If you don't, you'll need someone, say a tutor, to look after it for you.

八成小一學童獲派首三志願

教育局周六公布2009年度小一入學統一派位結果，近2.1萬名參與派位的學童中，約八成獲派首三志願。
教育局發言人表示，本年度共有20,978名兒童參加小一入學統一派位，獲派首三個志願學校的兒童共16,596人，佔近八成。小一入學統一派位階段的學額分為兩個類別，甲類是不受學校網限制，佔統一派位學額約一成，家長可選擇不超過三所在任何學校網的學校；餘下九成的乙類統一派位學額，則供家長選擇住址所屬學校網的學校。在參加統一派位的兒童當中，獲派甲類學額的佔2,415人，而乙類則佔18,563人。
於本年一月為子女辦妥統一派位選校手續的家長，可於周六或周日上午9時30分至下午12時30分；或下午1時30分至4時30分，返回遞交「選擇學校表格」的統一派位中心領取「小一註冊證」，家長亦應攜帶「小一入學申請表」或「選擇學校表格」的家長副本以資證明。
各家長須在下周二(6月9日)或下周三(6月10日)，前往獲派的學校辦理入學註冊手續。
