International Montessor school is located at ap lei chau. my daughter will join this Sept? any comments on it, seems not much people chosing this school.

At the same time, Yew chung accepts us for 2 yrs old program.

So, now thinking which one is better. if IMS, i need to move from tsing yi to Ap lei chau, a big headaches, can someone helps????

yew chung and IMS are too different kinds of school.
It depends which kind of education you want for your child.
if you want montessori way, then you can consider IMS, ICMS, CDB, ..etc. The classes are of mix ages and in a montessori way, i.e. children "work" in the classroom.

For me, I am still considering what kind of education I should choose for my daughter.
She is now attending the toddler class in IMS (wan chai campus). I don't whether I will continue in the coming Oct, as she could enter nusery in Oct (two years old at that time).

Sara, can you share about the experiece of the toddler class, good or not, as i applied the IMS summer course in coming July.

Why don't join the 2 years old nursery program?

Please give me some ideas as i already decided to move my living place. thanks

My girl has just joined the IMS toddler class for about 1.5 months.
At the first few weeks, she did cry when my helper didn't go with her together in the classroom.
Teachers prefer childern to be alone in the classroom.

But now, she won't cry anymore and she seems to enjoy the time in the classroom. I don't know what she was doing in the classroom but sometimes when I watched her through the little windows, she always was holding a toy car in her hand as she likes car very very much.

I don't know whether to continue or not as the IMS has changed the time scedule. It has pm session for the toddler.

I think it takes time to observe the school whether it is good or not.

do you think that once join IMS till K3, she needs to go for international school. I am still not yet decide, as need to apply K1 for her this yr. So, i will go for local and international, and see which is suitable for her. any sharing - so headaches!!

For ICMS, you may wish to go to 家庭教育 to ask parents there as some of them may ve first hand experience.

My son attends the casa class am in this School (ICMS).

It is a small school, teacher : student ratio is high, (1 AMI teacher and 1 Eng. teacher with 16 max students of mix ages). English is used in class. The teachers are caring and nice. My gut feeling is they are not money-oriented.

Shortcoming is Chinese learning is limited, every week has 3 x 1/2 hr Putongua classes, no practice in Chinese writing. Also it is new and no track record.

You can get 3 hrs work cycle and then play in indoor playground after school, around 30 min. with language teachers' attendance.

Yau Cheung, would you mind also sharing with me any positive/ negative view of IMS? We are thinking about putting the girls there in the Wanchai campus for the Toddler program. The admin staff is really less than desirable but we're willing to overlook that as long as the program is good and the girls can learn well. We also got a spot at ICMS but we were leaning towards IMS until I saw this forum. Yikes!

Hi Happy Rice, I was told the teachers at ICMS are not English Native speakers. Is that true? If so, how are their English? We really like the facility there, much nicer than IMS, but like others, we're worried about the lack of track record. Also heard that the teacher: student ratio is a bit high. Is your child learning well there?

我仔果班casa應該係native, 有啲係canadian chinese, 可能令人以為唔係native?

最近仲請左幾个金髮老師tim, 好似話一班會加到3个老師, 不過我都係同老師castual咁問, 你想知清楚最好打去問一下.

佢咪話鐘意返學law, 最近有个好young既男老師(language teacher)黎左, 佢就成日提起老師果名.

老師好細心, 有幾次佢面上有皮外傷, 老師都會打黎問下咩事.

可能我个仔比較难搞(好dad, 好容易哭又不太同其他小朋友玩), montessori老師都冇話佢不好, 仲話佢係其實係聰明, 覺得佢會觀察小朋友law.

希望佢返耐啲會獨立的, (我也在家配合)

Could u also pm me your comment on IMS? as I just got accepted from them and need to pay for the reservation fee. My bb also got an offer from Yew Chung in Jan10 and actually I also paid for 1 month school fee... but to me, YCIS is too far as we are living in HK side.

Hi Hollymama, is your baby going to Wanchai or Ap Lei Chau campus? Wanchai IMS also asked for deposit. They are not very responsive....I kept chasing them and when they finally gave me an answer, they want me to pay within 10days. Not very accomodating or considerate. I'm "Big Heart / Small Heart" now about IMS vs ICMS. I know ICMS seems to be more caring but was more hung up Happy Rice's comment, I really think ICMS is more about education than money (unlike IMS)Sigh....

I got the offer from wanchai. yes, they only gave me about 1 week to confirm the offer and payment. :(
And it seems quite expensive for $5000 for 5 days with 1.5 hours while YCIS is $5500 but 5 days with 3 hours.

Hi Hollymama, yes, if you look at it that way, IMS is definitely more expensive. However,their argument for that price tag is that the kids are really focused on learning for that 1.5hour and so what they learn in that short period is as good as other schools' longer classtime. For us, since the girls are young, we use IMS as part playgroup, part school. They are only going there 3 days a week.

as a trial run.

Hi Hollymama, is this the school close to Caritas? I wondered about that school too b/c it's closer for us. How does it compare to IMS? I just want to gauge how they do in a school setting first so only start them with 3 days/week. If all is well, maybe change to 5 days later. Pls let me know how your boy does in the 3 hr program. I doubt my girls will have the patience for a long program at this point.
