我也有相同的情況
本來一心讀St. Cat. pm class
點知昨天收到根德園call
上午班有位
兩間都幾好,但問題哪一間適合自己的小孩
kv就真係要坐定定聽書同守紀律
但出來的學生真係好自覺
sc就英文好有外藉老師
我囡都算坐得定
所以仲諗緊

I'll choose SC as the 1st priority coz it had NET teachers. It's very important for the kids on the language learning and development. (esp before Age 3-6)

St Catherine: good at Eng
KV: good at Chi, Maths & discipline

u need to prepare well for his Eng if u choose KV... or else he'll be less competitive in P1 interview

SC K1先有雙班主任, 到K2開始NET teachers 每天只是入課室20-30分鐘, 可能都要出外補英文

我詢問過一些兒科醫生的意見, 因為佢係好出名的Paediatric Specialists, 有好多Paediatric patients, 知道好多KG教學理念. 可以同大家分享吓:

我問過佢KV & SC都收揀邊間好?佢好肯定答SC.
而佢有2個仔女都係讀SC, 佢覺得SC 無論在學術及紀律都train 得小朋友好好, 而且小朋友唔會覺得死板, 淨係識得做好多功課. 所以佢覺得KV train 會係好似好叻, 但其實好公式化.

以上意見可給大家參考一下這兩間KG的比較, 起碼呢位Paed Dr. 見過咁多出自唔同KG 的小朋友, 都可以比大家知道多D

你話個"兒科醫生"見得多出面的小朋友, 噤又點呀?? 難道d小朋友睇"兒科醫生"的時候需要講出自己讀邊間學校嗎?
乜"兒科醫生"問病歷時會問埋patient讀邊間學校既咩?

既然佢係一個出名的"兒科醫生" , 應該有好多病人輪候睇症, 乜佢睇症既時候有噤多時間同各個病人交流幼稚園的教學理念嗎?

因為我工作耍見Paed Doctor, 所以我都諮詢過5個Paed Doctors's opinions,而我mentioned 嗰個係最旺症的, 所以先post 出來給大家参考吓啫. 絕無話邊間好定唔好,都係嗰句" 要視乎自己小朋友性格去選擇合適的KG" .

0係度傾只係交流一下, 何必針鋒相對呢? 唔好話係咪professional講, KV一向俾人既感覺就係咁, 可能佢小朋友打算/已入讀KV, 所以佢咪對呢d相對負面既comment咁sensitive囉!

Thanks taktakb2006, 因為我囡囡都係今年9月讀K1, 我相信好好家長都有考以上KGs, 所以大家分亨吓, 參考吓, 至於揀邊間比小朋友最終都係自己選擇, 我相信冇人可以妨礙倒. 對嗎? 其實BK是一個很好的平台比我哋家長自由交流意見, 大家互相分享心得. 因為關於子女的事很多時都是由我們身為母親的去決定, 所以收多d意見其實不是好d咩?

我路過的, 我唔知邊間好d, 不過我屋苑見過讀SC的學生, 覺得他們的紀律一般,其中一個與他搭LIFT時剛巧有另一位小朋友,這位小朋在叫, 讀SC的小朋友好大聲話"Quiet!", 個位小朋友無理, 讀SC的小朋友就話quiet都唔知.

I just want to share feedback from a principal of a famous primary school in Kowloon. She said that some of her students from KV and some of them from St. Cat.. But she said that those from st. cat was not outstanding as expected. She agreed that most famous primary school preferred KV pupils. Anyway, she added that students smart or not all depended on their parents, not the kindergartens.

Actually, the "debate" over KV vs SC repeats every year (esp at the time of KG admission). I feel that wincyho56's sharing is very mild and sincere. There is no need for being over-reacted.

To me, KV and SC deploy quite different education philosophy and therefore nurture different "products" (i.e. students)
KV - "好乖巧, 好斯文大方"
SC - "活潑,精靈"

I think it wouldn't be fruitful for us to argue which one is "better" here. Whatever school you choose should already reflect your "expection" or "parenting philosophy". However, before committing your choice, it's worthwhile to consider "experts" opinion (by reading books and references) and think from the perspective of a "child".

BTW, it's good to rethink what "名校生的氣質" are, whether they're really good and deserve our pursuit.

Take it easy. If you're really confident of your own choice and backup by a a strong ground, no one could defeat you.

果個家長問果d係"兒科醫生", 不是"教育專家"喔! "兒科醫生"醫病就叻, 乜"教育"呢一範都掂既咩?! 你估係"教育顧問"咩?!

話時話, lovelybb06又講得啱, 我帶仔仔去睇"兒科醫生"的時候都唔會問我仔仔讀邊間學校既啦!

My son was graduated from SC and my daughter is studying at KV. I can tell the big difference between them, for me, I will definitely choose KV.

Reasons:
1) KV students have better understanding at Chinese, Maths and English(vocab)
2) KV sutdnets have a habit of doing homework
3) They are disciplined

其實每間學校都有佢地嘅好處..好似我選擇咗SC, 因為我認為SC適合我仔仔..同埋我..因為我唔想仔仔有太多功課..但係唔代表根德唔好..我見我細妹個仔(佢都係一個極度好動的小朋友) 都讀得好開心...而我妹妹亦忙得好開心...

意見一定要聽..但最重要係自己的選擇...因為每一個細路都唔同....

其實真係最緊要睇你小朋友你屬於乜嘢類型,若果像我個囡活潑好動我會選擇S.C或者學之園,其實每間學校都有優點,最緊要選一間你認同佢嘅教學方法同埋你希望佢將來讀那一類型小學.若果想讀local嘅小學我會選K.V,因為佢真係能夠為功課多嘅小學打好基礎,而我希望阿囡入讀較輕鬆嘅直資學校,所以我選S.C或學之園,因為佢哋有英普班,可以打好言語基礎!以上只係本人意見,大家sharing吓!

相信每間幼稚園都有唔同特色,無話邊間好哂,邊間差哂. 其實大家都係討論交流下,不過眼見有些家長稍有不同意見非我族類噤就立即質疑人,就十分之討厭

認識大量KV學生都是既乖巧有禮、又活潑精靈，一啲都唔覺有小朋友似舊木噃！
所住屋苑亦有很多SC小朋友，亦唔見得百厭。

非牟利 --- 讀了三年無加價,無雜費
功課 --- 一日三樣,半個鐘做完; 星期五k3多一兩樣,唔係好多
尊心教育 --- 無任何活動,不用家長費時
默書,測驗 --- 你永遠唔知幾時會做,我時常事後先知
學術水平 --- 應該ok, 有時我都覺得幾難, 但老師有方法教

Don't worry. I agree with you. There is no right or wrong. There is freedom of speech. Some parents might think KV is good while some might think SC is good. Never mind. All information is just for sharing.
