You do not need to be so serious. I am sure your boy will be ok as the P1 of SMC is the transitional period. What you may do now is to raise the languages proficiency of your boy (**I am not saying your boy's is not up to standard). I found that kids with relatively solid English foundation perform better in the quiz at the beginning - SMC uses English as media of instruction and all the quizs except Chinese and Modern Langugages are written in English. However, such gap will eventually decelerate after a few months as kids are able to pick up quickly if they are given the environment. I found my boy's English improves a lot from Sep till now.

Personally, I do not favour 預備班. My view is to learn something which the kids will learn later in the class is totally A WASTE OF TIME. Understand a lot of parents are doing so (learning 1 to 2 grade / level up outside the school) even some in SMC and I have been struggling for a long time till now on whether to send my boy to those academic classes after school - so as to be outperform or as least not to be left behind. There is really the peer group pressure.

Thanks Monkeydad,

I'm not really an advocate of Pre-P1 preparatory class. But if they had one, then maybe I should let my son join. Good that they don't have so I can plan some other activities for him this Summer.
