I heard that Logos Academy is also IB (at Tseng Kwan O).

這些學校 並非全是走IB課程~(SPCC 及DBS是中學才有IB課程可選)

行IB係好貴ke ye, 好多學校只係"話"行IB, 根本未作實, 或只行幾年就算數, 只係好多家長唔會左/唔導左.

要去到高中先行IB?因為上述既學校在IB

除了在IBO網頁已刊登的IB World Schools之外, 除非正在審批的過程外Candidate schools (Schools that are preparing to be authorized are known as ‘candidate schools’ 由準備到取得資歷都要幾年時間), 其他的學校, 明知及受制於政府資助的政策, 根本沒有資源及空間去行IB, 如果要將成本轉嫁到消費者, 那麼, 所收學費就將會等於或高於維多利亞等學校的學費, 每月七千幾至萬幾, 相信真正有能力負擔的家庭不多及一旦成為了要收回成本, 對我們低下階層而言,其吸引力亦會大減.
因此, 有些學校, 為了符合政府政策, 或要保持辦學團體的辨學理念, 不刻意打造成貴族專有的學校, 或想節省成本, 留住學生, 不得不放棄行IB, 或推遲到中學文憑階段才行IB, 省卻很多培訓, 出國交流, 聘請外籍老師等等的額外費用. 但他們都聲稱採用類似IB探究的學習模式, 例如祟真, 真道, 蔡繼有等等, 都以類似IB的教學, 但他們不可以打正旗號說自己行IB-PYP & IB-MYP....
培喬書院校長明言因行IB成本很貴, 他們不會行IB, 會接受TSA及參加新高中會考.

有樣野好緊要, 就係ib需要好多資源去support, 即係
而根據edb說法, 直資學校受政府支助, 應以提供本地課程為主, 所以大部分既班別, 都應該行本地課程, 所以, 直資學校就算真係有ib, 都唔會係全部班別, 只會係一部分, 好明顯, 咁即係行精英制, 家長揀學校時, 要留意呢一點
而我自己就覺得, ib本身已經需要好多資源support, 例如suppose每一科都要開唔同程度俾學生揀, 而如果一間學校行"雙軌" (ie本地+ib), 好難有資源support本地課程又support ib課程 (唔通每一科都開幾班? 唔會掛....), 所以, 學生既choice又少左, 呢樣都要留意的

即係有d係真既IB 學校, 但有好多其實並不是真的, 根本未取得IB 認証; 有些只是高中才行IB; 有些更只是以ib作為招徠, 底子根本不是那回事.家長們真是要小心選擇.

蔡繼有Yr 10考IGCSE，Yr 12計劃考IBD。學校現在最高的一級是Yr 8，應該需於今年開始申請IBO了。

Creative Primary School is an IB candidate school.
Creative Secondary School is a formal approved IB world school.
They offer all Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).

唔知你所講既學習風氣指邊一方面? 一般呢講, 優才既學生唔算死讀書/狂補習個種; 但係睇書既氣氛就幾好, 學校亦好鼓勵學生睇課外書, 有各種讀書計劃/獎勵咁。
唔知問唔問倒你既問题呢？

IB有三個課程, 既IBD(高中), MYP(初中) 同PYP(小學); 但以IBD最多學校採用, 亦係最受尊重既課程。
IBD有公開試, 全世界既學校都要將D試卷, 送返IB组織作改卷/評分; 而MYP/PYP係冇公開試既, IB只提供一個課程架構, 其他都跟一般本地學校分別唔大。
可以咁講, 所謂IB學校, 係以推行IBD先至算正宗, 有冇MYP/PYP, 唔係咁重要; 事實上大部份IB學校(本港及海外), 都係只行IBD既。

個人認為學校如能貫徹提供PYP(小學)、MYP(初中)及IBD(高中)IB課程，必定比起只提供IBD課程更有成效；事實上，IB課程要求學生擁有的特質是需要長時間在適當的環境及配套下浸淫出來的，若學生是在傳統學校讀小學及中學，未必能適應或接受IBD(高中)IB課程。

in fact, founded in 1965 in Geneva, Switzerland, the IBD program was created to set standards for student achievement among youngsters who move frequently from country to country.
Therefore, the IB program must be flexible and versatile enough to meet different cultures, changing environment and education background.

According to the EDB policy, DSS schools including Creative secondary are not allowed to provide only IBD for all students.

Can you please quote your source especially about "including CSS"?
Anyway, CSS provides both IBD and HKDSE for the students' selection for senior secondary years.
CSS's MYP is based on local curriculum.

The Hong Kong
secondary curriculum from Form 1 to Form 3 is implemented at CSS through the framework of the IB MIddle Years Programme. There is an excellent match between the 8 Key Learning Areas in Hong Kong and the 8 subject groups of the IB MYP.

Source is from a letter dated 1 March 2007 with titlte "International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP)" from Education Department to the Supervisors/Heads of DSS Secondary Schools.
It has come to our attention that a number of DSS schools have indicated their intention to offer IBDP. We wish to re-iterate that as stated in the Education and Manpower Bureau Circular Memorandum No. 532/99 issued on 22 September 1999, DSS schools are required to offer principally a curriculum targeted at local students and prepare them for local examinations..........

cow兄, 以上的 source是 22 September 1999 發出的, 這是原則, 但經開辨DSS 的辦學團體與教育局商討後, 每個批核都是不同的.
政府有意在本港資助試辦各種不同的學制, 包括 DSS, PIS, IS, through-train.... 而批核CSS試辦 IB 學制的 DSS 就是只中一項.

The truth is that there is no DSS school that only provides IBDP. I am looking forward to seeing such a school.
I know some parents of hkuga were very disappointed when hkuga announced to give up the IBDP. Some suggested using legal way to challenge the EDB not to allow hkuga to provide all IBDP classes. hkuga also said it would consider to establish a new school to provide IBDP only. I don't know the details.

Maybe this is the fact that no DSS school that only provides IBDP. If you really want it, you may consider PLK Choi Kai Yau School or Victoria Shanghai Acedemy. I heard that these schools would offer only IBDP in their Grade 11 & 12. And the school fees of these schools are not that high comparing to other international schools.
However, I consider that a school offering both IBD and HKDSE is an advantage. In a seminar held in CSS, the parents were told that they could select either IBDP and HKDSE at their own choice. Principal Cheung of CSS further explained that not every his student wanted to study IBD eventually. Then, they would be able to get a suitable exit when they finished their junior secondary years. Principal Cheung said that he could not tell how many students at the end of his school's first F.4 would choose either IBD or HKDSE.
I believe that even in HKUGA College, not all parents want their children to study IBD. If the HKUGA is approved to offer the IBDP only, many parents must make compliants to Education Bureau too. On the other hand, if HKUGA operates another college to run IBDP only without government's direct subsidy, its school fee must be comparative to the current fees of PLK and VSA.

Personally, I must admit I know v little about IB requirements. I understand it is mainly project based education. It would appear to me that project is output, which should follow input. Hence it seems good sense to me that primary school, at least junior primary ie up till P4, that schools concentrate on input before they talk about output/ project/ IB. My 2 cents worth.

what I know about IBDP is that it is not suitable for every student, it is actually a difficult course, demanding.

i heard about this letter back in 2007 from school principal. I guess it is reasonable that government want to spent money on our own exam system.

I just found that I was wrong.
Li Po Chun United World College of HK is a DSS school and offering IB Diploma only.
Then I got another question is "why Li Po Chun could be allowed to provided IBD only."

(星島日報報道)本港已有十四所國際及私立學校開設國際文憑預科課程（IB Diploma），近年經常出產滿分狀元。國際預科文憑組織（IBO）早前與英國高等院校招生辦公室（UCAS），達成IB分數對照的協議，於IB考獲及格的廿四分，已略高於英國高考（GCE A level）取得二A的分數，令IB學生考入英國名牌學府更具優勢。
根據UCAS的分數對照表，英國高考一科A等於UCAS的一百二十分，新增的A*級則為一百四十分，近日公布的二○一○年IB Diploma對照表則顯示，IB取得廿四分及格已相等於UCAS的二百六十分，滿分四十五分則等如七百二十分。換言之，IB及格已等於高考取得兩科A級
，廿九分已達高考三優水平，滿分更等於高考六科A級。
本港學生的IB成績斐然，如去年沙田香港李寶椿聯合世界書院出產三名取得四十五分的狀元，約兩成三人更獲四十分以上。耀中國際學校中學部亦有約四分一人考獲四十分或以上。
英基學校協會去年有近六成IB考生取得三十分以上，其中三人更取得四十三至四十四分。行政總裁杜茵妮指，有關分數指引有助家長及學生了解英國大學的入學要求，對學生升學有利。

I can say Li Po Chun United World College of HK that is not the kind of DSS you refered. Actually, you can google all information in regarding to this college in the web without any problem. This college is a real international school, which accepts all students from all around the world. If a school askes the school fee for 2009/2010 up to HK$192,000, this school will still be a DSS in general sense; then it is a DSS.

Not agree!
If fact, education style in these countries are much more active then HK. As you stated, the students move from country to country, they have very high ability to accept changes and are very flexible. So they have no problem to step in the IB programe at any time. For HK student, the earlier they start the IB programe, the better.

IB未必一定適合所有學生，尤其係以考試訓練出嚟嘅香港學生。睇睇呢篇article，就連英國高材生(即考試叻嘅學生)修讀IB都會觸礁：

前日聽啱啱响美國大學畢業嘅世姪女講，原來美國啲大學較睇重AP (Advanced Placement)多過 IB，因為AP嘅考試無論「難度」及「美國大學認受性」都較IB為優。如果有志升讀美國各名牌大學嘅朋友，可能早點到美國考AP會更好。
