睇下你target 係乜野啦.. 如果係直資/私校, 咁就一定係st cat, 如果係維小, 咁就victoria 啦.

我有朋友當年就選左victoria, 今年考小學, 一d 優勢都無, 佢去後悔當年無讀st cat.

上小學應會用自行計分方法 - 報喇沙小學，

但聽講維記的語言學習環境較佳，上學時只講英普，小朋友學得不錯！ st. cat 就不知？

我是新mami，一點經驗都冇！請各位指點下，謝謝！

st catherine 的師生比例較高,難於照顧普普通通的學生,而且,k2之後,較少時間有native teacher教授,victoria會較理想!

如果兩間都報英普，邊間較好？及升上小學較易 "衙" 接到？

I am in the same situation, being accepted by both St. Cat and Victoria HMT for K1 coming Sept. I have registered for both and meantime thinking which one to go to.

My husband likes Victoria because of the lower teacher/student ratio and also the teaching methodology (teaching them projects and asking questions rather than spoon feeding). For me, St. Cat is so popular and traditional, most public/HK-stream schools are ok so it is a safe choice.

In terms of primary school placement, St. Cat is not so transparent, while we can see that quite a few from last year's Victoria graduate has done to DGS.

Still pondering...! BTW I am old girl of Maryknoll so think should be ok to get a place in Maryknoll anyway? Not too sure about how many marks I will get though... is is 25 then?

old boy 都係得20分. 如果有埋宗教分, 咁先有25分呀. 25分就多數都入到.

我都好hesitate唔知比唔比個仔讀victoria, 語文我唔担心, 我只係concern victoria的程度唔知可唔可以銜接local小學.

我未去orientation day因為harbour green在下星期一才舉行。我個仔被維記收了下午班，我自己都1516，因為學費真是很貴，貴過我讀大學。不過很多過氣的victoria都好滿意呢間學校，我同事說他個仔中/英文都好好。沒有一點香港音等。個仔行出來又有自信。我個朋友說此校的老師不會常常流失，全部人經驗老到，又有系統，總之好好啦!!!我自己聽到都有小小動搖，結果都去報了名。

學費貴不說，最大問題是小學，因為我地沒有想過去維小。我想這都是各大家長1516的原因。有沒有家長可分享下他們的仔/女在維幼讀書的感受?

ps 我去個website看過，他們西人老師好像不多，是可真是班一西人，班人國語人?希望下星期一去學校orientation day可以知道更多啦

My husband went to the orientation with my son at Belcher's campus this afternoon. There were two main things to do. One was observation. The other thing was allowing my son to experience having a part of a lesson.

He said that there were 3 teachers handling a class. One is a NET, one is a local teacher and the other one is a Mandarin teacher. The students were divided into 3 groups and each teacher was taking care of a group. Each group was doing different activities. For example, the NET was having snacks with one group, the Mandarin teacher was doing activity with one group at the reading corner. This part was for observation only.

Before the observation, the four students joining the orientation were grouped in a class. They had a chance to participate in the activity that the class was doing. The class was learning about 'lion dance' with the local teacher. My son was asked to try playing with the cymbals.

today's trial class is very useful for me to understand how a typical school day is like. i think what a lot of schools lack is transparency by letting parents sit in the classes. Transparency really gives parents a lot of assurance.
i wish st. cat also have similar arrangements.

I have called St. cat, they replied:
(1) before admission, no any visit provided
(2) K1- 雙班主任，1 Eng teacher + 1 Chi teacher
(3) K2,K3, - 單班主任-1 Chi teacher + 1assistance, the eng teacher only teach eng, 佔 50% time, and start to writing in K2

For victoria (HMT),
(1) you can book the visit, required 2-3 mths to wait, I have a visit on Dec 08.
(2) K1-K3, 雙班主任--1中1英+1assistant
for 18-24 students, the ratio is quite good.

It just seems that Victoria will give more personal attention and time to individual kids, while St. Cat will be like a big factory treating every kid equally. It is a matter of resources, and believe is reflected on the difference of tuition fee!

The auntie, whose daughter has studied in St cat 30+ years ago, now the daughters' son has also studied in St cat, and has got good result in performance and eng language.

Anyway, I has not only consider the Eng language in two school, but also child personal development...

Except the eng language, how about their comparison in other aspects, eg: is it easily to pick-up study in P1, and, active learning, personality....etc.

HARBOR Green - trial CLASS

3個小朋友入去課室 + 我們3個家長。
班房有一個net (habour green的net全是中國人)。她在說故事，學生(大約有8、9個)在地上坐。說完故事後做泥膠公仔，沒有什麼assistant，期間有個中國assistant來用廣東話問小朋友有什麼幫手。做完泥膠後老師比了個袋我們入起個泥膠。

trial class大約20分鐘之後校長入來說用廣東話說trial class完了!!!!
