I just received Homantin's victoria's letter, my son is put on waiting list. I like this Kinder very much and wish someone on the accept list will drop out so we can have a chance to enter. My plan is to go through-train as I like the IB program and the new campus of Victoria primary and secondary school.

This school is also my first choice. Actually, my bb performed well in the interview but still in waiting list. I and my honey were very disappointed and sad. I want to try if u give up. Please pm me la if u have a decision. Thx.

At first, we plan to let my son go to traditional school, of course the famous La Salle, DSSs like DBS and St.Paul Co-ed were our dream schools.  But over the past few months talking with parents of them, I realized parents esp mom needs to pay extra effort likes arranging multiple extra-school activities for the kids to let them keep up with other classmates. And the school teachers only do very minimal in attributing to the high academic performance of these kids.  They will blame the parents for not doing enough for their child, if so happen their school performance is not good.

In fact, many schools incl. ESF and many famous international schools, as well as DSSs like St. Paul Co-ed have claimed to consider or actually switching or adopting IB programme.  So I also wish my son can go for a school like that.

Honestly, if today there is St. Paul Co-ed offers a place to me, I will definitely accept that, but no, that is very competitive to enter the P. 1 and mnd you, many of the kids in SPCE primary school will enter secondary school and soon leave HK for overseas study in F. 2 or 3.  Therefore, the class mix is quite different from that in primary school.

So if you can opt out for Vic, then we can have higher chance to enter Vic.  And I am sure some parents on the accept list will drop out due and go for traditional school.  Its kind of good because we can all manage our expectation and won't be disappointed during the 3 years kinder- life.

其實我個細仔將來多數會入讀哥哥現在的小學, 所以我現在選擇幼稚園的target是要程度高, 尤其是英文聽寫講的能力. victoria在英文方面我知道一定好, 但中文及數學則令我有所猶疑. 因為如果佢在幼稚園没有打好底子的話, 上到阿哥現在的小學會跟得好辛苦的.

你說得對, st. paul co-ed以我的經驗來說是非常難考入的, 一係你要有名氣, 有錢, 否則你的小朋友一定要好outstanding.

Dear all,

my son is lucky enough to get an offer by Vict. he got some other offers which are also good in my eyes. So, I haven't decided whether to take up the offer. I don't worry about academic level. But my son is quite BB. His self-care ability is still not good. e.g. he is now 仲未戒片 and cannot wear shoes himself. I worry if Vict can accommodate this kind of students. Is there any parents who can share ?

Same. Received the acceptance letter for am class. Heard that Victoria accepts about 10 students for am class, but around 20 for pm class.

My daughter's performance in that day was really so-so, I really wonder what's Victoria acceptance criteria, maybe mainly attributed by parents' background.

距離八月(k1開學)還有大半年，戒片問題應可完成。至於自己穿鞋就要大人配合: (1) 選擇有貼貼、容易穿的鞋子; (2)要有足夠時間讓他試穿。
小兒是11月出生的細b(the smallest one in the class)，去年k1得到老師、嬸嬸照顧，雖然喊了大半年，但老師仍不嫌其煩，令我好感動。
不知您讀哪間維記，何文田的師生比例好ok，2(班主任):26(學生)，再加一位普通話老師。所以客觀條件也令老師可對學生進行個別照顧。

Oh, they just admitted so few students! But according to my friend whose daughter is studying there, they will open one more K1 in 2009. So I think they should have admitted more than 30 new students.

Honestly speaking, my son also did not perform very well on that day. He even didn't speak a word to the teachers. We are quite surprised that they admit my son.

我是apply Harbour Green campus. offer 的是PM class, 時間並不理想, 兼仲要搭校車. 其實, 我和老公都鐘意non-traditional school like Victoria. 不過我真係冇信心可以train到呀仔的自理. 佢已經係穿有貼貼、容易穿的鞋. 現在的teachers already have complaints about son not taking instructions to wear shoes, take cups etc. He can understands Cantonese instructions, I have no doubt, but he doesn't want to listern, he will insist not to co-operate. He also likes to walk around. I worry very much if the school/teacher in the end will recommend us to quit or withdraw from school or give him very poor report such that it'll be difficult to apply for P.1 in future. Do you know if there is any such previous cases ?

您孩子的情況是正常的，兩歲孩子喜歡四圍探索嘛!

自理能力是要訓練出來的，一步一步吧! 如果是坐校車的，他們的學習會更快; 畢竟"自理"與環境有關，無爸媽及工人在身旁，他們的表現會喜出望外。

維記的課室較輕鬆，k1時會讓孩子學習選擇; 我仔仔的名言是，"我有我ge方法，您有您ge方法，我想用我自己個方法喎。" k1時仔仔不喜歡畫畫，好抗拒，老師會鼓勵他，他初期會選擇不做，後來會做少少，但老師無因此label他為"不聽話"，因老師的評估是多方面的; 今年k2，老師的要求高了，教他們做"有原則的人"，要守class rules，他們自覺大個仔，都肯聽話。

其實好多學校都是k1較寬，k2-3才較嚴，不用擔心。最緊要多與學校溝通就能解決。

pm class的問題關乎作息時間，建議您立即寫信要求調往am class。有志者事竟成。

海峰園收咗我囡囡讀 pm trilingual class, 不過我地決定唔到讀唔讀, 因為聖保羅堂都收咗 pm, 2間學校真係好唔同, 唔知點取捨, 好煩惱

Do you mind telling me what's your background, such as work (nature & title), education and other that worth mentioning?

My daugter's performance was very good - at least from my eyes. She answered right all questions from teachers and performed very well during story telling session. But still she's on the waiting list of pm class - not to mention am class.

My husband is working in a very famous, tip-top school, so that my daughter gets a very high chance to get admitted. For a kindergarten who is result-oriented, this may be one of admission criterias. At least, my daughter did not get any rejection letter so far, and could be arranged to my chosen session.

Per her performance that day, I found there are at least two children's performance (out of six/seven) were better than my daughter. My daughter went out for wee wee, and was back in the mid of story time, and had not answered any questions raised by the teacher.

Radiomama, 非常感謝你的資料，你可能很奇怪怎麼我會看少自已的孩子. 我其實沒有對兒子有太大期望, 但求他樣樣嘢叫做ok已滿先, 也设有pressure 一定要入名校. 但兒子的言行舉子真是讓我頗worry. 不但仲好bb, 未能獨立, 也有点stubborn. 對不喜歡的人or事對表現不合作. 也因此現時teachers 似乎已label他是problem child. 但最失望的是當我ask teachers what have been done or can be done, teacher only asked me to find a specialist to see what my child's problem is and if the school can do anything based on the specialist's advice, I can tell them. It's so disappointing because that means the teachers/school has not done anything to tackle the problems. The school fee of that school is among the highest in HK and has the lowest class ratio ! 說真的, my child is not a smart kid, he's a slow learner and takes time to warm up and learn. His biggest 長處是有好記性. interview時我不覺得 teachers is so 包容到這樣的學生. When we received Victoria's acceptance letter, I am so suprised at this result. If I choose Victoria, I think it is quite a risky bet. 如讀諼吓被勸退學, 真怕害了兒子.

對不起, 吐了這麼多苦水.

I see, have you tried Montessorian approach? 自發性的學習和空間, 對主觀性比較強的孩子有幫助. 如你有使用dvd teaching materials / flash card, please stop for the goodness of your kid. 多點人與人的相處和free play, 讓他明白其他人的存在和感受, 讓他與人和事建立關係.

選學校是次要, 在家庭建立健康的培育方針才最重要.

It also accepted my son for English / Mandarin class. We only speak English & Cantonese at home but he is now studying at a English / Mandarin nursery.

We only speak Cantonese at home, but all family members can speak fluent Mandarin and she is studying in an english pre-school. We plan to speak English and Mandarin only when she is 3 years old. My husband will talk with her in English, while I speak Mandarin.
