This is exactly the case we are facing now. My daughter was admitted in the first round in Abacus, now in ESF CWBS she still have to be on waiting list, no matter you have UK Passport or not.... so now it proved that if you are Chinese, even you are in ESF Kinder, you are not guarantee for even just an interview in ESF Primary school.
However I also see some non-ESF kinder Cat 2 children has chance to be interviewed for Quarry Bay School in the first round.... as I think that area has more Chinese. But ESF should give those priority to these ESF Kinder pupils without interview first..... can't imagine what happened now in ESF, so messy arrangement.......

For future planning, that's y I planned to move Sai Sha Road, coz' there will be in Shatin Catchment area.

Sai Sha Road都係於CWBS的CATCHMENT AREA, 如想入Shatin Junior，好像是由帝琴灣開始至馬鞍山方向。這是我的理解，不知有沒有錯。因為我也是住Sai Sha Road，我想如要入CWBS的機會是很底的..... 但Shatin Junior的chance就相對比較大！

我都想問:我女現在才K1 ,year 1 我打算給她報 Discovery College, 不知Discovery College的學區包括邊.....,是不是住愉景灣機會比較大?

ese718, Discovery Colleage同Renaissance 都係PIS (Private Independent School), 呢2間係唔受catchment area所限, 你可以報完, 再報多一間esf school都得

I think this year competition is very keen, and looks like the case of more babies born will be more more serious in the coming year......of course at least in ESF kinder you will have a higher priority....... even in the waiting list..........

No, but if you are Chinese, then may be you will be listed on Cat 2, thus may be in the waiting list, as there is a lot of Cat 1 (Native English speaking) applicants this year, and possibly in the coming years....

As far as Iknow, at the end of the school tour, they will give u the contract and whether your kid belongs to am or pm class will be listed in it!

你是apply abacus的嗎？我聽前abacus kinder家長引述校長說這幾年apply kinder 的cat 1學生也多了很多，所以入讀的機會也相對小了。想知有沒有其他報了abacus的小朋友取錄了呢？

yes, you need to think thoroughly before you accept their offer as ESF kinder only provides two years kindergarten education. If you want your child to study in the local primary school, then you need to think which school your child will go after the two years education in ESF.

My major concern is whether there is a through train for ESF primary school. If there is no high chance, I may prefer letting my girl studying in EP class of St.Catherine's. At least she can have better foundation on Chinese.

I have got the "acceptance letter" from ESK TY yesterday for K1 in 2009 entry. (the stamp chop was 8th Dec).
They invite the parents of the child to attend the intro tour on 9 Feb 2009 at 4:15PM to help us whether to accept the offer of a place.

I hv got the acceptance letter from Abacus today!!
My kid is Cat 2 ar~~~
I know there is got many Cat 1 applicants these few years, I might move to Kowloon though.
Coz' just heard from SJS, they hv a huge number of applicants every year, even not many Cat 1 in their pool, there's still a keen competition among us.
Kowloon might be the only solution, they hv KJS & BHS ma!!! more choice.......

But I am just thinking to accept the offer or not as my son was born in Dec 06 (I may let him to repeat K1) and I have an offer from St. Johannes College....

It sounds like Sheung Wan and Abacus organise the intro tour earlier than TY.
SW and Abacus in Jan.
TY in Febraury so far.
Is there anyone from ESF TY being invited in January or ealier than 9 February?

Actually it's not easy to get a place at K2 ESF TY. As far as I know, they rarely accept student at K2.

Thanks for your information. I live in Tsim Sha Tsui, is the competition in this catchment keen?
I am a cat 2 applicant as well. My friend told me in previous years, the competition for TY KG was very fierce and even the cat 1 students could not gurantee a place. But my impression to the allocation of this year is not the same.

yes, 不過只係priority in your category, 唔等於一定有, 我見今年有其他家長都要waitlist, 所以好depends每年情況. 相信到時要搵定另外一啲IS作為back up

我想知道極大部份ESF小學收生要求最少5歲。如果小朋友九月至十二月出世讀完2年ESF KINDER之後未夠５歲，會唔會入唔ESF小學是否雖要讀多一年KINDER？
另外ESF KINDER係咪唔可以重讀K2?
有沒有人可以答我？
