Hi daudau or other mamis,

I have applied for 2009-2010 2-yr old class (playgroup). They are going to held the interview soon. Would you share with me about the interview when your son enrolled it last year? I know that it is very competitive this year for applying in other kindergartens. Thanks.

The birth rate was high and therefore there is a keen competition this year.
The interview is very simple. A teacher will talk with you and your child. May ask your child the name, the age, show some pictures and ask what they are...
I think the most important thing is that the child should communicate with the teacher. No need to have the abilty to speak a lot but should interact with the teacher.

if your kid is applying for playgroup (for 2 years old), the teacher do not expect your kid to 'answer' the question verbally. but the child should understand the questions and give responses.

I remembered that the teacher asked my son:

1. who is sitting beside you? (my son answered 'mummy')
2. give a jaw-saw to finish (just match the animals to correct position)
3. where is your month, eyes, ears and nose
4. showed my son two pictures and asked which one is dog

Then ask me the following questions:
1. who take care of my son
2. what does my son play at home

If you apply for international class, the interview will be conducted in English.

daudau你好,乜interview d 問題咁深!死啦!我BB 仲未識講嘢,佢依家仲未夠1歲!你所講d問題,我完全冇信心我BB識反應!咁點算好呢!!好擔心呀!!!

No worry, as I said, the teacher doesn't expect bb to answer verbally. but bb should give response to teacher. my bb was born in April 06, so he was around 1.5 years old when having interview last year. he also didn't speak at all at the interview ah.

don't give yourself and bb so much pressure. i think if you bb is willing to sit in front of the stranger (ie, the teacher) and play with her would be OK la.

I have received the letter today and will have an interview next Sat. 好緊張呀!!!!!!^o^
I will try to let BB to sleep more that day and hope she can has the best performance.

my son applied for int'l class, a native teacher interviewed him and me in english. for local class, i heard that the interview will be conducted in cantonese.

maybe some other parents of local class can help?
