我囡囡在中文科上也有學習困難，她的中文科程度真的比英文差很遠；英文科卻並不擔心，她現在已經四年班了，有哪種方法可令她改善？

First of all, I need to say that I myself do not have any “antidote” to this issue as my child has basically the same issue as yours.

But I guess doing some more Chinese comprehension exercises and reading more Chinese books may help to some extent.

Does anybody have better suggestion for us??

謝謝你的幫忙！其實我的女兒也是閱讀理解方面很弱，我也有買練習給她做，如有時間的話，也會跟她一起做 (因她自己做的話，會有很多漏空的)；她也喜歡看中文書，但是她不懂的詞語卻又不問。其實我知道她有盡力的，但是就是不解為何當面對測驗或考試時，就好像什麼都忘記了似的。

我想由於你囡囡是讀P4法文, 所以學校教的非母語班中文只有約本地P2程度.

我是由最基本開始打底, 例如
- 教她基本字的筆順,
-學習像形文字的演變, 教聯想法
-學部首,數筆劃
教她普通話拼音以及利用部首來查字典, 所以查出的字可以自行利用拼音拼讀出來.
-有些字可以斬件來記, 教字義及如何運用
-聽歌, 學唱PTH歌學中文字句
-常去圖書館讓她借喜歡的中文書, 亦買了不少書, 要她大聲朗讀, 留意停頓的位置, 見到漂亮的句子, 要她留意,解釋如何使用.
-要求和我要全中文對答, 以前因為用太多英文, 說中文時句子常會前後掉轉.所以造句作文亦有這方面的通病. 另懂得運用的詞彙很少, 又常詞不達意, 錯別字又多, 只好不厭其煩地解釋再解釋.
- 教她多些用形容詞, 使文章內容豐富些. 見到好的文章, 我會讀給她聽, 叫她閉上眼睛聯想一下文章內容情景的描寫.
-現在正使用一本叫
綜合高效識字, 是收集了一些我地朗朗上口的童謠來學中文, 容易背誦及默寫,有一些有關的習作, 囡囡都好喜歡.不過對你囡囡來說可能太淺.
- 其實背誦及默寫漂亮的句子對中文寫作都有很大的幫助, 但可惜我囡囡沒有太多時間去做. 你可以考慮使用.

- 每次學校黙書我都會每天分段來溫, 要她大聲朗讀給我聽, 把不明白詞語抽出解釋, 用遊戲方式幫她黙寫詞語, 然後要她自己把字蓋上, 看著中文拼音把字黙出. 重覆地溫習後, 會我讀她寫, 她在家往往學會了, 去到學校, 又記不起了.
-四字成語是最難的, 但一定要學好, 對寫作內容很有幫助. B*介紹<成語動畫廊>VCD, 我覺得很不錯.
- 買了各類的補充練習,重組句子, 擴寫句子, 閱讀理解, 錯別字, 猜謎語, 標點附號, 部件運用, 多做多練當然最好. 平日較忙, 我只有長假期時才讓她做. 作文方面, 我喜歡用"學林", 覺得不錯. 另看一些小學作文範文都不錯, 讓她看看同齡小朋友在同一題目上的寫作表達.
- 寫日記, 創意寫作都有幫助, 可惜囡囡做功課太慢, 現連英文日記都沒有寫了.
-除了看書, 看報紙, 看好的PTH影片, 我想去內地交流, 多接觸中國交化都很有幫助. 之前假期, 我讓囡囡去北京家庭住了一星期, 剛回家時她常不自覺地用普通話和我交談. 進步不少.
-人人都說學好中文要
先從 <聽,講,讀, 寫 >四方面著手,
大家都明白過這個道理, 以中文是second language的同學想學好中文不是一朝一夕的事, 真的是要勤力加努力,用時間來浸淫出來!

我想你是在職的母親, 在有限的時間, 你只好針對最弱點去教起吧!

由於我囡囡中文還是很差, 我只有盡力,不斷地鼓勵她學得幾多係幾多, 學中文獲益的是將來, 而不是現在成績表上有幾多分! 長篇大論, 沒有太多心得. 在買書籍方面, B*懂得很多,幫了我不少, 希望她有空入來傾傾!

謝謝你們的寶貴意見，你們對孩子所付出的真的很多；我也自愧不如呢！確實我是一個在職媽媽，每晚約七時才能回到家中教女兒她不懂的功課，可幸的是她也很乖巧，會在我回家前做妥。那我便可於她晚飯及洗澡後跟她溫習，須然時間不多，但起碼可以幫到少許。Tingmum,知道你確實下了不少苦功，你女兒一定可以做得到的。其實我女兒並不是讀P4法文，她主科也是中文及英文，但中文卻真的很差，我會依你的方法去嘗試，希望可以一段日子後見到成果。真的很謝謝您們！

i'm very impressed by all you effort for your child as well....
may i know how many language the child needs to take in Camoes?!
my wife and me would like our kid take french as 2nd language. (french is actually my wife's 1st language, and also that why we have been interested in Camoes school)
however, as for me, i'm a bit concern about the level will be if my son take chinese as 3rd language at school.....
moreover, base on what's your experience and heard from other parents, do you think there is any advantage or disadvantage for the interviews if my son speak french already?!

Let me call Mr. Fong to see where they've moved to.  Should be either on 8/F of their prev building, or somewhere (18/F ?) of same building as Mongkok PTU.

I think there are 2 diff sets of NG, 1 set is more advanced.  I only bought some for piglet which I hoped might interest him, not entire set.  Let me ask my book friends about it.

Usually can order books from China, from 新思維, 國風堂, 榆林.  A pity that 文星 closed.

Very sorry for giving you a hard task!!

It is very vague to classify "good Chinese books for primary pupils".
But we will highly appreciate if you could just share the names of several Chinese books that you had bought before and you think these few books are good for our children's level.

The selecting criteria may be easy to read and with an interesting story.

For my curiosity, there are so many choices of books in public library. Why you all need to buy so much books for the kids??
I normally borrow books from public library. As there is deadline to return the book, would it be more effective to force the kids to read the book??
I would like to learn from those experienced as there are always pros and cons.

Well, I sometimes buy and sometimes borrow from the public library too. It all depends on whether I have time to go where, and whether the books are of re-reading value.

For Chin books from Taiwan,
can either find these in 城邦, 景行, 讀書人,
or from 台灣網上書店.

Take a look at books under the following series,
suitable for pr kids,
very interesting and funny books,
level is in between picture books and wordy chapter books,
kids are more likely to read them and develop a reading habit.

Lots of these are available from public library,
cost of ordering directly from TW web bookshops are cheaper than from HK bookshops but then if you count postage/shipping costs then if the HK bookshop offer 25% off better buy in HK.

The books I referred to are all 橋樑書, bridging the gap between picture books and chapter books.

1) Yes, you can borrow many Chinese books in the public libraries but you may not be able to borrow those new series or the most popular series so easily.

2) For some interesting books, the kids may want to read them for the second or even the third time. And sometimes they love to own/keep those books as good memories.

3) It will be a pity in case the deadline is approaching and your child loves that particular book so much but due to the upcoming examinations and tests, you need to return the books because the loan periods have already been extended for two times!!!

I think most of us do both.
On one hand, we try to borrow some books from public libraries free of charges.
On the other hand, we are obliged to buy a few special ones sometimes if we forsee that we cannot borrow those in the public libraries so easily.

I know you have no commission by doing so.

However, I can guarantee that the satisfaction that you can gain from the appreciation of TSL (or may be some other) parents is much much more valuable than any monetary return.

It's my first time to hear about "橋樑書"!!
It is an interesting term.

My child is currently reading a book
called "冰箱裡的企鵝" <東方出版社>.

Did your child read some of the above books as well?

I do not know 管家琪’s books but will have a look.

I do not know both 馬翠蘿 and 麥曉帆's books but will have a look later.

I agree with you that we should not let our children read those books talking about love affairs too early.

1) I asked my child to use your suggested method in doing a Chinese comprehension exercise yesterday and it worked.
I don't think it is 走'正'面 but this method will make our children pay more attention to both the questions & answers when they start to read the article.

Hope my child can follow this in a persistent manner.

2) Yes, please share the list of books when you have spare time later.

I don't know these 2 authors either : 馬翠蘿, 麥曉

Piglet is still only interested in non-chapter books and hasn't even read Roald Dahl books.  reading is his 4th / 5th priority.

Chin books :  冒險小虎隊 - I don't like these books, sort of 無頭無尾, ends so suddently.
Prefer the series of TW Chin books I mentioned before.  He also likes the 冷知識, 軍事, 惠8為甚麼 type of books.
Engl books :  I bought books unde the New Reading 360 series and Pearson readers type of books, short stories not as long as real chapter books, and piglet is reading these.  Quite difficult to get him to read chapter books.

Just searched on the internet about 管家琪's books.
Not knowing that she is such a famous writer in Taiwan, especially on children's books.

"管家琪是當代台灣兒童文學界創作量最大的作家".

Need to have a look at her books in more details later on.

馬翠蘿是因為亞女在學校見有女仔睇, 佢亦想試下睇. 但對她來說太深, 所以我是陪讀 --> weekend有時間的話, 我倆一起讀 (不過有些字眼用pth讀, 好似唔係好順口!)
