My daughter ask me why "the" in only one of the following sentence.

1) I can do karate and play table tennis.

2) I can do karate and play the piano.

Would you please kindly explain to me.

因為在球類名詞(football, volleyball, tennis, basketball等)前，不能置定冠詞the。
如 My favourite game is football.

但樂器名詞(piano, violin, trumpet等 )前，應置定冠詞the。
如 He plays the piano very well.
