all,

我囡現K3, K2時外籍英文老師說:我女兒可能是資優生, 叫我帶她做Test, 但我又咩都唔識...一直無理...

近年返課外活動期間分別有2-3位Miss, 都奇怪我女兒比其他小朋友叻, 其中有一位Miss 叫我要好好教她, 不要浪費她...???

我都唔知女兒是否資優??... 但做咗Test 都只是得個知字是嗎??... 有無實質幫助呢??
基本上我女只是比較聰明, 學嘢快(好易教), 好爛玩(唔會倦唔使瞓), 無咩情緒問題...我又無求助嘅需要噃???

老公說:又不是要 show off 給人知, 是不是資優生都無咩所謂, 唔贊成用幾千蚊去做test...

那麼, 請教有經驗的家長我是否需要帶女兒去做Test 呢??

It is absolutely no need to do so unless you suspect the kid is mentally retarded and need to apply those special schools; or

My opinion is that if you do not take her to a test, you may have to struggle on this matter from time to time for the following years, because there is always a "?" in your mind.

I think IQ test has helped me to understand the strength and weakness of my daughter.  For a IQ test, there are three scores: Verbal, Non-verbal and total.  And there are IQ subtests, analyzing the subtest scores, parents can understand how to improve children's learning skills, if required.  Of course, parents have to do some researches after knowing the scores (if there are obvious discrepancy between the verbal and non-verbal aspects/between subtests) and find ways to help their children.

Like me, aftering my daughter has taken the test, I know she is a visual spatial learner and she has some weakness in auditory learning, so I have found some ways trying to remedy/help this.  Knowing she has a higher ability in one area and is interested therein, I have put more resources to it. 正所謂對症下藥....知己知彼而已.

My daughter has no obvious emotional problems up to now, perhaps it is because she is not a "highly gifted" child having say 150+ scores in full scale. Anyway, she has high scores in some subtests.  I know her strengthes and weaknesses, that is enough.

But remember to find a reliable psychologist if you want your daughter to do a test.

The above is my opinion.

昨日返kumon 時, centre 個校長問我:覺唔覺我囡活躍咗D, 完全坐唔定.... 其他小朋友唔會好似佢咁嘅 ??
(唔知係咪投訴我囡坐唔定呢??)

唉~~ 平日帶佢坐MTR, 佢唔肯坐, 要企..周圍走周身郁, 唔係撞到人就係踩到人, 我唔係俾人鬧就係俾人"眼啤啤", 人地唔知以為我無家教... 其實我都好無奈!!

我女已經返緊9樣課外活動佢都唔會倦, 仲要去埋playground 玩/練琴, 仲成日要帶佢去街, 返到屋企不停睇電視玩玩具, 唔使瞓覺架...
我就嚟俾佢玩C....

請問你有無好介紹??... 我問咗學校Class teacher, 佢叫我去睇醫生 , 醫生會教我喎??

係咪總有個"?" 仲會struggle from time to time,就要看家長勒,如果你覺得果堆數字咁緊要的話,咪做lor.
作為家長,自己一定係最了解自己的子女.講真,就算唔做IQ test,你都知道你小朋友邊方面強/弱.仲有,看過有文章話大多數(not all)gifted 係visual spatial learner,之前看過有文章講點分,睇完就知自己屬邊類,唔一定要做IQ test.
很多資優兒都有自己的學習方式,一般唔會鍾意刻板,重覆的學習模式,Kumon未必啱佢,坐唔定一d都唔奇.
gifted child精力充沛,玩唔停是很常見,你囡囡能否集中注意力做一樣她想做的事?能否坐定看完一本她愛看的書?能否遵守規則?如果可以,那有什麼問題?問題可能只是陪佢果個大人好辛苦. 我個仔自出娘胎至讀kindergarten時都係咁,我揍佢揍到得返半條命,佢個腦轉少陣都唔得.

我個仔都有類似情況，事實上我都唔知亞仔係咪！
我並沒有「兒女是資優」這份虛榮心。
但要處理亞仔的問題真係好頭痛！
睇咗好多教仔書，都未見出路。
只係想知道，有無一d實際建議教吓我哋可以點教仔、點處理佢既問題，希望令自己、老師、小朋友唔駛咁辛苦啫！

我曾經上過小童群益會的課程:有關教養資優兒的家長小組,個名唔記得左. 用的書叫:"資優兒親職教育",你試下去圖書館找找,因為而家轉緊版,市面未必有.
上e個course其中一個幫助係有一班同一背景的家長坐埋一齊"sung"下,分享下咁,唔好期望有咩太大的突破. 同埋有一個好重要的信息:gifted child 在心理上有獨特的需要,父母是要配合,要更flexible. 其他的,都唔太記得! 我地做父母的真係要花多d心思想下點教.
如果你小朋友under 6,可上母嬰健康院的3P課程,雖然不是專for gifted child的parents,但對新手父母很有幫助,我仔5歲時才上,後悔上得太遲.
其實有咩問題咪上黎傾下,可能有其他家長可以幫到你! 唔洗棄餒,我個仔出世到小學前都好難搞.而家小學生,touch wood 一切都好好,細個時的問題好多大大下都無lu.有d我地亦接受左,好似佢真係唔多願瞓,我都無逼佢早上床.

Hi, Wisekid2007,

I also 'think' my kid is gifted ( he is almost 6 now ) from what he behaves. He has a great talent in music ( i think ), he start learning piano for a year and he start to compose music and ask me to search the song ( from internet ) to him such that he could practise and composing. Do you know any good piano ( or music ) teacher who has experience to teach gifted children, if yes, pls kindly PM me. thanks.

Hi, Wisekid2007.

Pls PM me the young piano teacher.. You know everyday my son wake me up by playing piano to me as he likes it so much... The songs that his teacher give him to practise everyweek he could finish it 2 days and then he switched to play other song or compose his new one. But I think my teacher is like your current one, so, I want to find someone who really have heart to teach him.
