I think all schools will not just consider the month of birth, they should consider a lot more aspects. In my son's class, there are slao small boys but also have very good academic performance. Therefor, it's NOT a must in DBSPD. Don't worry.

Hi, Civic,

eileenycm,
I totally understand your worry. However, the game is really cruel, what we can do is try to avoid thinking too much. Too many assumptions will only create bigger pressure.
I finished interview today, DGJS, this time, not many pressure. Just send my daughter there and tell her to be polite only.
As a parent, we can only help kid to submit application form and send them to have interview. All is out of our control. Relax. SPCC gave me a good lesson.

You're right. Hope we can get a good news.

I think it's true that SPCC & DBS prefer "bigger kids". At least SPCC's principal did mention this point in previous year's admission talk.
My son is an Oct-born boy while frankly, he got second round interview opportunities for ALL the schools we applied except SPCC.Though I understand that SPCC places for unrelated parties are very limited, I believe "smaller boys/ girls" are really disadvantaged.
Smaller kids' moms, Don't feel stressed. The game is cruel, however as long as we have taken part in it, we have to follow the rules of game.
I don't think smaller boys are weaker candidates. Cheer up!

Schools will not tell you that they prefer big kids. Even SPCC headmistress only said big kids are normally more mature and well developed and therefore have a better performance in interview. That's the reason why we see more big kids being admitted to the school But the headmistress also mentioned that there are smart small kids that they could identify in interview.
So the critical thing is, is your kid smart enough. Even big kids can fail, if they are not outstanding enough. By the way, whether big or small, this only makes the chance of being accepted increase from 'almost impossible' to 'very difficult'. Not much difference, as famous schools usu have most of their seats allocated to related parties.
Anyway, we should not feel sorry about our kids being small kids. They are all god blessed.

請問DBSPC 係唔係同SPCC 一樣唔會收年尾出生的小朋友? yes, very very little chance
According to my friends, SPCC's headmistress did explicitly told in previous admission talks that smaller boys & girls are less preferable. She even joked that smaller kids have a second chance in the following year (this year, she only told in an indirect manner).
Of course, smaller kids naturally are less mature esp at the age of 5-6. The gap will be narrowed till zero at a later stage. Though I think it's a bit cruel to expel these students who may in fact be talented based on the birth month, I have to face the reality.
Conclusion: to get into "popular schools", bigger kids need to be smart; smaller kids to be SUPER smart (better to be taller to "mislead" assessors' attention).

I think the chance for DBSPC to accept small boy is higher. Their criteria are different: SPCCPS prefer smart, mature and behaved kids, DBSPC focus on the kid's creativtiy and talent rather than the age.

agreed.
