本人喺聖心小學 (pm class) 舊生, 不過真係N年前, 加上嫁咗去Kowloon, 所以對現在嘅聖心一無所知。

現開始plan囡囡小學學校, 請教各bk mami 聖心現在是否名校? 我讀嘅時候D英文好深, 教好多grammer, 記得 P2.開學時除了上中文及數學全也是英文授課, 所以学生英文程度一般也不錯。

Appreciate if anyone can give me some update / comments. Thanks a lot.

謝謝你對母校的眷顧。謂道「上中文及數學全也是英文授課....」，意思是不是除上中文及數學(外，其他)全也是英文授課 ?
現在我們除英文外，部份常識也爲英文課本，大概是隔週上課，另外，家長若願意，也可讓女兒接受普教中，但需經抽籤決定，全級約60%學生爲普教中。

至於「名校」的問題，請問你對「名校」的定義爲何？

What I mean 「名校」refers to is it subject to keen competition to gain admission?

And does the students have good English standard?

Thanks for the clarification.

Admission-wise, I find it is still competitive but not too vigorous.  My girl got her place with SHCS in the first-round allocation due to the additional marks.  If you are the old girl, definitely your status will grant merits for your daughter.  I know that there are even places gained through 叩門.

But in my opinion, if you are not going to move back to HK island, it is not worthwhile to send your girl to SHCS from Kowloon.  Don't forget the school finishes at 5:xx pm everyday, plus alternate saturday starts at 7:xxam

I don't think English subject at SHCS is difficult.  Having an enthusiastic mother like you, your girl must find it easy to grasp such.  This may be of your concern.

Sorry to overlook your email reply 因前陣子生活有點忙亂。

As you said, 除英文外, 有些常識科也是用英文授課, 可否列擧哪些subjects?

本人是舊生, 因此女兒入讀津小的机會也較大, 但考慮也不少, such as 搬去HK island (hubby not too agree), 我知道Kowloon side St.Mary and Good Hope 也很好, 但前者得15分, 很靠運氣, 后者是直資, 學費太貴, 所以揀SHCS是一个比較safe & good choice 。

對SHCS的期望, 是可讓女兒有良好的英文基礎, 書寫及表達能力, 還有它有中學有机會直上, 都是本人考慮SHCS的原因, 以你所見, 現今的SHCS學生的英語水平, 是否有這个素質呢?

Appreciate if other SHCS' parents could also share your comments.

There is no chance to get into St. Mary's in first round with only 15 marks. Even 20 marks cannot guarantee a seat.
You can only try your luck in second round if you pick St. Mary's.
