Write a letter to her, but whether she would write or not is all depends on her and your kid past performance.

Call the school officer to express your request and she/he should tell you how to do? I do not believe the principal will refuse to do as it is helping the student for applying P1. However, a written request may be required. In my case, I had sent the written request to the school and the reference letter is much appreciated than I expect although I am not sure how helpful it is in applying for P1...
