My son did the 1st interview on 26 Sep. Anyone of you has the similar case and get the result yet?

I can understand how you feel. But it's just one week so I guess they will have results in the next 1-2 weeks.

How many DSS/private schools did you apply?

My son said there are about 5-6 teachers for the 1st interview. Asking him some English, Maths, Chinese questions.

No, I just do the 1st interview and still waiting for the 2nd interview if I am lucky. So I feel nervous also....just wait.

Don't be so 唔開心.

Some successful candidates may for whatever reasons eventually give up the seats.  You know, you are on the list.

My boy is in P1.  It is really a good school for kids who are eager to learn but not very keen on writing and copying.  So far, my boy has approximately 1 page of Chinese writing and 1 page of English writing (usually terms of General studies) every week.  He does the English writing during the class (short passage of no less than 20 words).  If you believe learning should be from writing and copying, this may not fit you.

The school arranges quite a lot of activities for the kids to explore - all P1 boys and girsl are arranged to go through the some 14 extra-curriculum activities in 2 years time).  The school encourages kids to take the time reading books (the reading program is rather demanding - targeting 40 books in 2 months time for P1) rather than writing.

我仔係讀國際幼稚園嘅, 英文係難唔到佢, 中文就惨d, 我都意外佢入唔到smc, 我看到你們介绍好吸引覺得間學校好適合佢, 我才申請嘅, 原本信心爆澎! 佢英文好同佢係好有創意, 应可应付, 諗住佢ok , 點知咁, 唉!

You may not need to wait that long. As I learnt from BK, there is one mammy that had decided not to take the offer and save the chance for 1st round lucky draw. Most of the candidates apply more than one DSS.

If the English of your kid is very good, the chance would be high as there are some P1 students who come from non-Chinese family (their Chinese standard would not be better than your kid).

You can write to the Vice Principal, Ms LY Lee stating your wish to put your kid in SMC. Not sure whether this helps but at least better than doing nothing (if SMC is your first choice).

如果你仔仔英文係好既話, 機會仍然係有. 可能係第1 round學校會收d中英文都好既小朋友, 到第2 round就會揀英文好, 但中文差少少既, 所以唔駛灰心.

我朋友仔仔都係8月底waiting list入到, 雖然得返幾日就開學好多野都好趕(買書, 買校服), 不過佢都開心到死, 終於入到. 佢中間都寫咗好多信去學校, 又不時打電話去問.

My personal view is the earlier the better, at least you register your interest and the school will think of you when there are available seats.

Official deadline is Sep 30 but you can try calling the school whether they would accept late application.

hi all, may I ask if the appeal letter should address to Ms Principle Tam or the vice principle Ms Lee as suggested by someone Monkeydad here? A bit confuse, many thanks for your advise!

Mrs Grace Tam is the principal for both the secondary and primary school whereas Ms Lee is the vice principal (primary section) and she is also in charge of admission.

You may send the letter to both (same letter for two addressees).
