For 2009 K1 application: Age Requirement: Children born between September 1, 2005 and December 31, 2006.

My son was born on Nov, 2006, that is "small" kid. Is the chance to get in St Catherine will be lower? Any mom has similar experience buy your BB could get in?

Can someone share the interview experience there? I chose interview in English, but I wonder what they will ask if the kids are 1 year difference?

Please advice. Thanks very much.

i know plenty of "small children", born in Sep, Oct, Nov and even Dec being accepted by SC. Not sure if that's because of their relatively large no. of classes, SC does accept small kids.

It's ok that u choose English interview. Of course the teachers won't expect your child to speak very fluently, but at least he or she should show the ability to understand and speak a little bit English.

Hope it can help, and good luck for the interview in early November.

No need be too worried but it's useful to get prepared.

Do you know if st. catherine's teachers accept active children. My daughter is very active, but not naughty. She is 25 mths today .

Actually I am not sure if I should choose Eng or Chi. He does understand my helper's instructions but then we talk to him in chinese also. I am sure he will understand the Eng questions but what if he replied somethings in Chinese sometimes like "Che Che" instead of CAR? Many other things he does know the Eng names but just not sure if he likes to reply the teacher in the interview though...

For last year’s English interview, some of the children were asked questions like this:
What’s your name?
How old are you?
Who is this? (the accompanying adult)
To differentiate among different colours and different kinds of fruits (e.g. the interviewer will pick an apple and ask what is this, or the child is requested to pick an object of specified colour,etc)
For parents: why choose SC and what’s your expectation on the kg.

I heard another big girl born in Jan, interviewed in Chinese. Not sure if it was because she is big, her questions seemed more complicated, e.g. the teacher asked her, “個咀用黎做咩野”.

That said, the school may have different “interview strategy” for every year, so you may just choose whatever you’re most confident of.

For active children, there should be no major problem provided he/she performs well in the interview. By impression, SC’s admitted candidates tend to be active and smart.

I just share what I hear, any other mammies in the picture are welcome to share more.

The answer is NO. Both of my daughters attended
interviews in Cantonese.
