Thanks a lot Leshita for your sharing. The info is very very useful. Have you been able to login to the intranet successfully? I tried the way you mentioned before but could not get in.

In the homework page it said 帶生本書 but there was no 生本書 among the 10 books distributed on Monday. Do you have 生本書?

Thanks leshita again. You are super! So efficient! Are you a working mom? I am extremely busy at the moment as my boss is going away shortly for one month so huge amount of work has to be done before he goes.

BTW I have enrolled my daughter to the swimming and drawing classes. Don't want to overload her too much. How about you?

I am also try to find some English phonics classes for her. Anyone knows if there are good phonic classes in Shatin?

My girl enrolled (1) violin (2) 體操 (3) 小交 (4) swimming . I join swimming class too so I could swim with her at same timeslot. No need to wait outside and could do some exercise.

In today’s English subject homework, there is an item “Read U.1 bk (1)”.
My daughter never brings any English books home, so how to read??? Do you have any English books?

To answer Leshita’s question, I live in City One, very close to the school. It’s good as it really saves a lot of time and hassles.

Hi all,

My daughter is also study in 1D. Today she told me the English teacher said they need to have an English name. I'm not sure if all of your kids have one yet. My daughter doesn't has one because I like to call her Chinese name in English - Wai Wai. Even when she was study in Kindergarten, all her NET teachers also called her Wai Wai. I don't want to give her an English name hastily. Do you think I can talk to teacher?

Sorry for my late reply. There is a pink worksheet which the kids have to complete (homework). But don't worry la I think just ask your kid to ask the teacher to give him/ her(?) another one and do it tomorrow.

vivikay, maybe your daughter can just tell the English teacher that her English name is Wai Wai and see what the teacher says?

Hi anixon
The website said the card will be distributed later in the week. There is also a notice earlier telling us what fees have to be paid during the year. But there are also the lunch and winter uniform charges etc. which will also be debited from the card. To be safe, I think I will just deposit more, perhaps the maximum.

My daughter is OK, already better than I expected. But yesterday she spent like 3 hours finishing the homework as there were quite a lot of Chinese writing and my daughter is very slow in writing.

I thought we only need to revise the vocabs for the Chinese dictation? Maybe I will ask Miss Lam tomorrow as I need to talk to her about something else. Will keep you posted.

For the next English dictation, I assume all the underlined words need to be spelt apart from the 4 vocabs in the box?

Sorry I forgot to ask Miss Lam about the dictation but I trust it should be only the vocabs which I also understand from another thread:

問左孫老師, 佢話只係那11個詞語, 千萬不要1-6課默晒, 嚇怕孩子了.

原來$336是上網站做exercise 的費用, 若成績有80%以上,才可申請退回8成費用. 是那公司退的, 不是政府資助的.

可能我理解能力低,不過大家要小心考慮!

I originally thought if the kids can complete 80% of the exercise (no matter right or wrong), then there will be refund. It's rather tricky of them. Anyway I won't subscribe these as I believe my daughter will be busy enough finishing the school's homework. I want to leave some leisure time for her.

1. 功課只是一般 (好似和k3差不多), 但剛開學, 我暫不肯定.

2. 默書的字不太深, 十多個生字, 我囡囡讀幼稚園時未默過書, 但都沒有問題囉! 不過又係果句, 剛開學, 唔肯定.

3. 老師只顧成績, 不顧學生情緒???? 有咩???? 唔覺呀!!! 亦未聽過. 如果有, 我都驚呀! 邊個講比你聽? 邊位老師咁衰? 唔該單聲, 如果上佢堂叫亞囡留意吓先.

我有在學校做義工家長, 觀察中都好滿意呂明才的老師, 老師一定比幼稚園的惡, 但公平講句, 一個人睇三十多個學生, 唔同幼稚園小組, 唔惡好難控制場面.

我見到有些細路真係好 '百厭', 好嘈, 成日想攬笑引人注意, 如果老師控制得唔好, 其他小朋友也會起閧或分心, 小學開始唔同幼稚園玩玩吓, 如果自己的仔女被某某攪到無法專心上堂, 你們會開心嗎? 我覺得老師得個樣惡啫!

以下是高年班家長的意見, 大家又參考吓 :
請問每日大約有幾多樣功課?
>>其實樣數可能很少,但量可能係好大.我覺得最終都要看小朋友自理能力如何,聽過有一年級小朋友中文功課五個兩字詞語,每詞語寫3次,但可以用上2小時,因寫一劃便要玩幾至十分鐘,咁樣就算只有兩樣功課都用上2-3小時....

講真,呂小的功課量不算多了,但競爭就不少,因為是一群很勤力盡心盡力的家長......你可以有時間在返學放學期間到學校附近觀察下的家長+學生.

我又回應下。

因為而家先係小一岩岩開學，暫時都仲係比小朋友適應期，好難答到你第1、2的問題。

唯有答下3。
因某d原因老師打過電話比我，講完老師要講的野後，我問下女女係學校平時的野，覺得老師都幾留意小朋友的行為，而且仲可以講到佢做過的野，令我感覺都幾好。

其實惡唔惡好睇每個人的定義，有人覺得惡時有人又會認為唔夠嚴，其實好睇家長點諗o架。

I think the homework is not too plenty. Most of the kids should be able to finish in 1-2 hours. My daughter is slow in writing so when there are writing exercises, she will have to spend longer time doing her homework, sometimes she may have to finish after dinner.

Dictations are OK for the moment, not very difficult, but well, we'll have to wait and see.

My experience is that the class teacher is very good. I have spoken to her about my daughter and she has been helpful and encouraging. She already quite understands my daughter. This surprises me as it's only 3 weeks since school started and she has to take care of nearly 40 students. Honestly I feel quite relieved after we have talked as I believe she is a responsible and nice teacher. This is just my opinion.
