Hi all,

St Cat 話七月開始會有waiting消息,請問大家有無收到取錄通知呀? 有無媽咪有以往經驗分享呀?

Sept's tuition will be deducted today. Anyone not joining in Sept should give up their seats before today. Give St Cat one or two weeks to decide who to allocate the seats to and do the admin work.

I am sure some on the waiting list will be offered a spot. I know one person who didn't pay for the $660 seat reservation fee and another person withdrew in May.

I just got a call from St. Cat this morning. My daughter is able to transfer to the English Mandarin class (from the English Cantonese class). I was so happy when I got the class because I want her to learn Mandarin.

Did you send any letters to St Cat expressing your interest to have your son/daughter study there? I wrote three letters in total saying how much I want my daughter to switch to Mandarin English class. Those letters actually work !!!

I have written 2 letters to the kinder. I received a reply for the first time, but there is no response for the second one. Did you receive replies from the school for the three letters? In my letters, I also tried my very best to show how eager we are to send our kid to the kinder.

Hi Mumkuk,

I only got a response for the first letter. I sent the first letter shortly after they offered me a spot in the Cantonese English class (but I interviewed for the Mandarin English class). I sent the second letter around the second week of May. I sent the third letter end of June.

Hope you will get some good news this week.

Just relax. But just out of curosity, what kindergarten will your kid attend if St Cat won't offer him/her a spot?

My kid is accepted by 民生。But I want my kid to go to 宣小 or 九龍塘學校小學部。I am not sure the kindergarten will affect her chance of success in these two schools. If it doesn't matter, I think 民生 may be OK.

Of course, St. Cat. is more famous. What do you think?

Dear Mumkuk,

民生 is a good school too.  It might just not as famous as St Cat and Kenville.  But you know what,  whether a school is good really depends on the teacher you end up getting.

In getting into a good primary school, the kindergarten you come from only has little importance.  The primary school will also consider what your kid has done outside of kindergarten life.  My friend's son is going into K3 this Sept.  When he is in K1 and K2, he is learning art / painting, fung fu, piano, violin and swimming.  He always participates and wins (in some case) in competitions.  Good primary schools like kids that are all rounded.

Once again, good luck to you and let me know what happens at the end.  My daughter is in St Cat's afternoon class, so if you are offered a spot, it will most likely be the afternoon class.  Hope I will get to see you there.

Thanks for your comfort. I do hope to meet you soon in St. Cat in the coming September.

Yes, I also think training and activities outside school are very important, especially to some famous private school. So, no matter which school my kid is going to, I will let my kid join some interest classes.

I called the kinder a few weeks ago, and the staff gave me the same reply -- no one gives up the place this year. I think this is just a model answer to stop parents calling. So, don't worry, I think the kinder will call the waiting list students very soon.

To make everyone waiting feel better, maybe we can inform each other here in BK once we got any news from the kinder.

I did go to school last week, I did ask the staff and even the principle, they all said that they received more than 10 letters every days and many many mami(s) keep calling them and ask for a seat, however, really no one withdraw. They said that if they didn't give you a call before the mid of July, it probably assume that your case is failed. so, got prepare everyone.

如果有100个位置，很多时受欢迎的学校都会招收正选学生110个（举例而已），即使有人放弃学位，也只不过是刚好而已，所以看起来就不会收waiting list上的学生。

Today, I couldn't help myself calling the kindergarten, and the staff told me that there was no more vacancies for the waiting list. She said all the waiting list students who can get a place were informed already. I don't if she just wanted to stop me asking or it is the truth. If you are still waiting, you may also call the school to see if they give you the same answer.

I really want to know, actually, anyone (you or your friend) got a call from the school?

Hi ChinChinMammy,

I definitely will not apply for St Cat K1 again next year if my kid has no problem in her school. For K2, I think I will observe if my kid is happy and can learn well in her school, if yes, I don't want her to switch to St Cat. Every time there is a change of environment, the child has to adjust again.

Instead of changing school, I may now let her join some interest classes that my kid like. This may have a better result and preparation for applying for a good primary school.

I have written totally 4 letters to the principal. I will re-apply K1 this year and I will also apply K2 next year. Is it OK???

My baby's current school is near to my home and all the teachers are very kind. The only problem is that their English are not good. Is this worth for me to switch her to another school???

Congratulations !!!! So you got a place after the school has started. My daughter is in the English/Mandarin PM class. When she first started, her class only has 15 students. Then, I think on last Wed, I saw one new face. And today, I checked the seating plan and her class now has 17 students. They admitted 2 more to her class.
