以我了解、収生資格、是小朋友能否在英語環境下明白老師、正常地学習。　　一般読ESF　的幼稚園是有優先、但不代表読本地的就不能入学。

Why not ? Provided that he can be granted an interview according to the priority catalogue set by ESF + successfully pass the interview!

My daughter attended a local kindergarten and joined ESF primary school, but she has USA passport. I wonder whether it helps or not.

One of my friends who live in HK Island. ESF does not offer his daughter interview as they found her daughter is from local kinder (the reason is she can speak chinese).

It should be a rumor and mislead,
she been rejected may be due to poor in English rather than can speak Chinese.
( English is not use in daily life, parents only speak Chinese at home and her kinder mainly use mother tongue as teaching language.)

ESF 的幼稚園是有優先 interview,
but not guaranty all will accept.

Her daughter can speak fluent English as she talk to her in English at home. She got offers from CIS, CAIS and AIS. Now she is in CIS.

Wow she got so many offers. I know its hard to get a place in CIS, she must be a very smart girl. May I know which kinder did she go?

In esf web site, it is very clear that
Applicants in category one will be invited for interview before those in category two, regardless of the date of application.

Category One

Children who speak English as a first or alternative language but do not speak Cantonese and/or read and write Chinese characters.

Category Two

Children who can access the local system but who also meet ESF's entrance requirements.

You assumed that girl belongs to Cat.1 but not Cat.2 ?? Once she was studied at local kinder, she belongs to Cat.2 !! Any official notice show she don't have an interview offer because she can speak Chinese as you claimed ??

daydream are right, it should be "so many applicants with a higher priority at that year together", the chance was slim that year. And the seats are always limited for non-ESF kinder student.

Be rational!!

Your statment "And the seats are always limited for non-ESF kinder student." This statement is wrong again as there are so many non-local kinder. Does this meant they have lower priority even they are native english?

Don't try to divert the key question,

As you like to to have quantity data please advise me the number of esf kinder, non-chinese speaking kinder and local kinder has get a place in esf and other is. If you have no data, how can you comment for other people's information?

Bear in mind, this is open discussion forum, it is up to you to listen or not. Argue with quantity data doesn't make any sense at all.

I do not want to complicate things further nor do I intend to get involved in the arguement as I already have my hands full in another thread.

My kid is 100% chinese, speaks English most of the time and go to school in UK. Whenever I've enquired about admission in various International Schools including ESF (SJS, KJS, RC, JIS, HLYIS), I was told that we would have priority on the waiting list as my son was classified as Cat 1. Maybe because we applied from overseas they considered us as native English.

Matthewdad, Daydream:

Myself is a very good example to illustrate the situtation.
My baby studied at local kider. when we applied ESF (before 2nd term of K2). There was no interview being offer in
that winter. Until the summer time of K3, ESF called
and offer an interview for Grade 2.

Therefore, I believe Daydream's understanding is correct.
Matthewdad may agure why does ESF not offer interview to all applicants. However, when there is sufficient first
prioritized applicants in the year to fill up all seating, why
brother? If you are in ESF's position, it is absoultuly correct.
