Dear Parents of P1 applicants (2009 sept - Primary1)

I am wondering what is expected in the portfolio and what does the profile letter have to say for application to the Primary 1 schoos aside the application form ?

Is it THAT big of a deal? I keep hearing mothers talking about it, and this tutoring center tried to get me to pay $ 4500 for them to prepare the portfolio and profile letter for me.

Is it worth it? Would it be that important to get a Professional to do it? Or it's better to be unique, and I write it myself. Any guidelines or restrictions set by the past experience or requirements from the schools?

Where to find this information?

I find this whole process of applying to a Primary 1 school VERY stressful this year, and it hasn't even starteD!

我睇錯左以為係450,我都覺得唔值....原來係4500??

只要放得佢整整齊齊,有條有理,人地睇得舒服,已經ok架啦,花巧野亦唔需要太多............最重要係裏面既料有幾多,有得幾多個校長係睇你個file有幾靚丫

Is it only for the profile? Or it should include some classes for the interview as well?

Personal point of view: all the "professional" profiles from tutoring centres should look very similar in format (however, if it is worth this amount of $ it should be very nice.) Imagine if you are the principal, and keep on seeing similar profiles, how can you tell who is good?

May be you can take some profiles' format as reference and create your own profile for your child, I am sure it will be more personalised
