Hi NLai,

I'm a IS parent.
I have different viewpoint that I'd rather put my son into ECA with Chinese/Cantonese as the medium.

Since me and my husband are both local, and we don't want our son to speak only English. I want him to practice more Cantonese outside school.

His school also provides ECA after school and I know many IS do offer ECA with great variety.

And for ECA, I prefer smaller class or even 1 to 1. So I do not enroll him into those 'associations'.

Yes, what is ECA?
I put her in 童軍, she is doing fine with those local teachers and friends. But for some acdemic course, like creative writing or maths, is very hard for her to understand what's going on with the others in case all exercise is writing in chinese.
We were in Kids gallery before, but now I found they are too focus in young age class, which is not enough care for my daughter age group. I think as she is growing up, may be she need to change the learning center as well.

Oooops sorry, ECA means Extra Curricular Activities.

Surely I agree with you that if it's writing and maths, I woud prefer English medium for the IS kids. But for other arts or sports activities, which they just need to have verbal ability in Cantonese, I would let me son learn from Cantonese speaking teachers / coaches.

Yes, I agree your idea as well, I am looking for good creative witing class for my 10 yrs old daughter, is hard to have good one for IS student.
Also, maths class, she say she can not understand what the local teachers talking about, but she say she want help from someone, I think summer may be a good time for her to work on it..
