I'm considering to apply for my son to study K1 in Anfield.  But I found that most of the comments are for its playgroups.

Any parents can provide comments on Anfield K1?  Thanks.

Yes, they have K1 to K3, You can call them or go to their website for details.

FYI.   They have morning and afternoon classes.    They also provide full day for K1 to K3 students.

Hi, anyone know if they also teach Chinese?

Anfield has 30 minutes of Mandarin each day (if you enrol in 3 hours - half a day);  they don't teach too many Chinese characters, only about 50 words each year.  I just asked my 3 year old daughter and she said she does singing and art work with her Mandarin teacher.

If you are targeting at international school after kindergarten for your kids, Anfield can be a good choice. It gave good English and Mandarin foundation for the kids to progress to International primary schools. My son is a graduate from Anfield (from prep-programme to K.2) and he has no problem to get through the interviews of international schools.

Cheers,
Ruby

I am worried that if my son gets into an International Kindergarten and then fails to get into any International Schools, he will be very behind in main stream schools.  I do not want him to be in any ESF schools as he will eventually move back to the USA.

Can anyone let me know if I think too much?

kakaeo,

my son is a K2 kid at Anfield and he is accepted by ICS which adopts US cirriculum.  Don't worry too much.  I'm sure Anfield can provide good education and a caring envirnoment.  As to the P1 placement, it depends on many uncontrolable factors.  e.g. the number of 1st priorty class, the character of the kid, the perforance of the kid during interview.  The relationship between IS and kinders is not so important, as i oberseve.

I would suggest that you make up your mind on choosing int'l school or local school first. Which is very important.

Once your mind made up, do your best to prepare your kid to that plan. E.g. enroll him into English playgoups, kindergarten. The real international ones. So he is prepared not only to speak English but also be outspoken and talk to foreigners with ease. Also, you can talk to him in English if you can.

These were what I did for my son and I think it should work for all kids. In such case, I think he should have no problem in getting through the interviews/assessments. But of course there are also other criteria that you have to meet, depending on the school you apply for.

Good luck.

Ruby

Thanks!  I speak fluent English but find it hard to speak to him in English all day long.  Funny thing is that he can count (while reading) 1 to 5 in Chinese, English, and Spanish (with the Dora/Diego DVD).

I guess I will have to start now to prepare him right away.

(BTW, sorry to have stolen this thread on my own questions).
