I would like to know too if there are P1 to P6 students in SPCC 2008 living in East Kowloon or Tseung Kwan O.

Is your child going to SPCC in 2008? May be we can form a group of East Kowloon students and arrange the school bus. It can reduce the travelling time if the bus can use Eastern Harbour tunnel.

Yes, my son is entering SPCC in 2008. It would be great if the East Kln route can be arranged. Our last resort would be moving to HK Island.

I know Singapore International (near SPCC new campus) has a school bus using Eastern Harbour tunnel. It takes about 30 minutes door-to-door from Lam Tin to the school. If there is sufficient Eastern Kowlooners, it should justify an Eastern Kowloon route. Hopefully, more East Kowloon SPCC parents can respond to this message. Then, we can talk offline to coordinate the bus arrangements. Let's see.

I also live in kowloon side and interested in form a school bus in Lam Tin(it seemed that more convenient by using Estern Harbour tunnel).  But is there any idea on the no. of student per bus?
If I consider still live in kowloon side, I want to shorten the travelling time as possible.  Otherwise, I would consider livng in HK side.
Really thanks for the East Kowloon parent to reply and discuss.
BTW, I am glad to say hi to all P.1 parent(2008) and other forms parents.  Wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I'm trying to find the contact numbers for the school bus to SPCC. I think if we can have 12 students, we can ask for a school bus passing through Eastern Harbour tunnel. Stay tuned.

Currently there is only one bus for the Kowloon side students and some may need to change for a second bus upon arriving Kowloon. Try call the bus operator Mr WONG at 90802514 for more details.

Are you talking about the route of SPCC or not? I do not prefer to change a 2nd bus.
It's more preferrable to arrange a bus only for SPCC students.

Agree that it's not preferred to change a 2nd bus. Another alternative is to share bus with students in nearby schools, e.g. HKU Alumni school, Singapore International School etc. but need to check the school time...Anyway, once we have enough people, we can ask for a bus serving students leaving in Kowloon side. I don't think it's too difficult to arrange a bus. In fact, I have two neighbours who have children studying in SPCC. Everyday, the mothers drive their children to the school. If there is a school bus available with reasonable travelling time, they would prefer their children to take school bus...

If we have the Eastern Kowloon Harbour route, we can request the bus to have a stop at Diamond Hill MTR...

I have called the school bus owner Mr Wong. He said he was responsible for all SPCC school buses to Kowloon. The followings are some key points made by him:-
1. The bus routes to the new campus have not been finalised yet.
2. Tentatively, there will be a bus route starting from Tseung Kwan O to Lam Tin, Kowloon Bay then straight to SPCC's new campus through Hunghom tunnel.
3. Each school bus will take about 10 - 12 students.
4. As told by Wong, the bus will stop at Lam Tin at around 7am.
5. School bus fee is about $1800 per month. Wong explained that it's because of the fuel price and they need to recruit an additional amah in the bus to take care of the students. He said it was required by the government in the new school year. (Does anyone know about this?)

I have left him my contact number. He said he would call me when the bus route is finalised. If we can have a group of East Kowlooners (including Tseung Kwan O), then we can reduce the number of stops and minimise the travelling time...Any updates from anyone would be welcome.

今天的行程尚算順利，只是駕車兜了少許路，但最終都能找到南風徑。

個人感覺：原來新校舍就在香港仔隧道收費亭旁邊，眼見校舍由數個組合而成，最左應是入口處，有St.Paul's Co-Edu新校舍圖片，最右那座建築物最高。因校舍外牆搭建了很多棚架，故難以估計是否能如期完工。但觀乎眾多地盤工人努力地工作，各位家長大可放心！

另外，我覺得校舍四周環境十分清幽，被很多茂密深緣的大樹包圍著，有少許地靈人傑的感覺。:loveliness: 而距離校舍1分鐘左右路程，則有一所黃竹坑老人服務中心，再走到南風徑路口，又有一所老人院。
已到現場實察的家長，有沒有補充的地方呢？

我之前所見的和你所見的差不多, 不過, 我真係好想知道是否今年收得特別多九龍學生, 究竟150個新生, 有幾多個是住在九龍, 若有很多, 學校都必須一定要安排保母車接九龍學生返學....????

i have visited the construction site twice, and totally agreee this!! the environment is excellent for our children to study there. There is no any public transportation reaching there at this moment, so school buses, taxi or private cars may be the only ways to go to school before ,hopefully, minibus service is arranged for that area. I drove from TKO and it was very smooth except there's some jam near World trade centre. The campus is just near the toll gate of the tunnel.

It seems many of us living in TKO or Kowloon side. It increases the chance of arranging some faster and more direct school buses for our children. Transportation is one of the main point for me of being a Kowlooner to consider the offer.

Given no traffic jam, I believe it may take less than 1/2 hour to the school from TKO. For the taxi cost, it must be more than HK$100 for the trip.

Are you consider going to school by taxi? group or individual? I've also considered grouping enough students by taxi but it turnned down because of the issue of safety(if all P.1...too small even with one adult). Do you have any idea?

we may move to hk island around North Point to Waichai.....is this the DEFINITE way to save transportation time? just afraid that in some scenerio that it takes more time eg more stops....

I checked with the School Bus company and was told that the current bus runs from Shatin, Kowloon Tong and then Ho Man Tin before going to the Tunnel. However, if thereare students in Whampoa, they will also take them first before crossing the tunnel. Moreover, the School Bus for Kowloon Tong also takes students from other schools and are dropping off kids in Happy Valley and Wanchai. I think if the bus goes from Hunghom tunnel directly to Aberdeen tunnel, that should be OK. But if it goes down to Happy Valley and Wanchai, then it may catch the traffic jam. Of course, the School Bus company said that they'd make sure that the kids will not be late for school. But as parents, what we want is to minimize the travelling time. Therefore, I am also asking if there are new students 2008 so that we can at least try to work out something to help our kids. Or else, the last resort is to move to the HK side - but then, I guess in each of the HK districts, the travelling time may not necessarily be less since the bus may have to take as many kids as possible, even in the same district

. My niece who is currently studying at Kennedy Road SPCC Primary Section travels for 45 minutes back to Conduit Road, which is the 2nd - 3rd last stop.

What are your views? Contact me if possible.

I have just talked with my neighbour who has a daughter studying at P2 in SPCC. She is going to ask others parents who are living in Eastern Kowloon whether they would be interested to join the EK bus route.

If you are interested to join the Eastern Kowloon route (TKO and Lam Tin), please PM me ASAP. Once we have the name list, we'll liaise with the school company to establish a bus route for students in Eastern Kowloon. The bottomline is to minimize the number of stops and use the Eastern Kowloon tunnel so as to reduce the travelling time.

Hi,

I just pass by.  My daughter is in P. 3.
While you are contracting bus service, you may wish to consider after school extra-curricular activities.

There are many activities after school daily, like swimming, table tennis, maths, instrument class, school team practice, etc.  So kids do not finish school at the same time.  My girl takes school bus in the morning but not so often after school, though we have been paying for both trips.

The school informs that there will be school bus service to Admiralty and North Point MTR every half hour for students who stay behind after school.

We are not informed about that because the parents only asked about after school arrangement for students staying behind for ECA. The details should be announced in the new student orientation in June.
