Hi...just walk thur....
As I remembered the teacher during 2nd in told us that the result will be announced before X'mas. She also reminded us to keep eyes on the website as it also annouce the result.
So, I think it may be around this week.
For save, you may call cky again to confirm the release date.

Dear all,
Although my son has already accepted by another school, but we still want to know the result from cky, so I phoned them and asked them the RELEASE DATE.
The staff replied in VERY GOOD AND POLITE MANNER (值得一讚) and said parents will receive letters before X'mas (i.e. before 24 Dec). She also emphasised that their website shall NOT announce the result.
So, all parents be patient to wait for the X'mas gifts la.
其實CKY都係我地心儀嘅學校, 因為老師同校風都好好...

Hi,
I applied 2 schools for my son and they are dbs and cky respectively.
We've got acceptance fr dbs and now are waiting for the result of cky.
Honestly, we love these 2 schools -- dbs is famous with long history and outstanding track records on competitions locally and overseas, while cky is rather new but with excellent language trainings. cky adopt "proactive" teaching method and they encourage students to read books by themselves, to gather info from internet, library...for doing projects by themselves...etc. Fr P.4, cky also has overseas trip for students to join in to know more abt the world and other countries. All in all, these are what we expect our son could be in future.
So, we are now have "headache" on choosing which one. But, may be rather selfish that we will register dbs first coz cky is "private school" not DSS, so we have time to wait for the result and then make final decision.
If you were me, which one you will choose? Share with me your views, if you don't mind.
By the way, you're also waiting for the result of cky? Apart fr it, any other school(s) you've registered for your kid??

CheCheMan, I know we all are selfish. But given that your first choice being DBS and your kid has been given an offer, I think you should really be considerate as 'not' to accept an offer from CKY should there be one.
Competition for a place at CKY is keen (and perhaps even more so with DBS) and most parents here really share the same education vision. Nonetheless, I guess there are few who would reject an enviable offer from DBS for a place at CKY in the end. If that would be your likely situation, why should you register your acceptance in the first place?
I write in advance of the results announcement as I would expect most - when given an offer - would register 'first' regardless it's their first choice or not.
It's definitely a tough decision to make. But those in waiting can't thank you enough if you would kindly reject an offer from CKY.

Wish you also understand our "struggling" coz we only applied 2 for our kids and luckily that we got acceptance from dbs which we had given up before, but....
Surely will surrender EITHER ONE for others once we make up our mind. It's fair to other parents ma~ right

以DBS的名氣，是很多家長趨之若鶩的理想學校，加上一條龍，又有IB課程，聽聞也不太催谷呢，要取捨應該不太難吧！若已決定就讀的，可能留一個機會給其它後備生會更好。家長要留位取捨學校，可能因為兩間學校質素太相近，始難判斷。除非，妳覺得DBS會有某些短處令妳覺得擔心呢！若當年DBS收取小兒，我亦會給予他一試。當然，蔡繼有對於語文訓練確實有一套，才令小兒的普通話有很顯著的改善;至於英語方面，因在家裡有持續每天閱讀的習慣，他現在（小二）可自行閱讀一些100頁以內的英文小說。
一些傳統名氣，如spcc亦會有不同類型計劃以擴闊學生眼界，如有些中學生會被挑選成為海外交換生；加上同輩及家庭的影響，所以我覺得學生質素會有保証的。除非，擔心孩子位處中下游的話，會影響自信啦。

Frankly speaking, I guess no one will give up an offer from DBSPD for CKY.
As you son is from CCKG, DBSPD is most probably your target school as well. So, pleasssssssssssssse don't register at CKY. Many many parents out there are still waiting for their first offer. Don't make their ordeal last until Sept 08.
There were a few "no show" students at CKY at the beginning of school term in Sept 07. Some of these places are still not filled up till now. Such valuable places are being wasted.:cry:

多謝你嘅意見. 其實而家講話要選擇, 都言之過早, 皆因CKY都未有result. 呢幾日我同husband都商量呢件事, 我地大至上有共識...
咦..聽你咁講，當初你都有chose dbs and cky for your son? 咁...你而家個小朋友係CKY讀得開唔開心呀? 分享下呀.

CheCheMan, my kid is now in Y2, and fortunately, not competing for the 2008/09 Y1 places.
To be frank, I didn't register another school for my kid except for the 'allocated' place by the government in the second round. True that we had not made up our mind whether to go for a relatively new private school, or a more established governement school - our first choice in the district for 12 years of free education. And we heard different views/pressure from relatives and friends. At last, we informed the government school of our regrets - as I reckon my kid will find CKY a better environment to grow and learn.
It's really a tough decision process and we tried to minimise the inconvenience to the schools concerned and to avail the P1 place to those in waiting soon as we could.
Anyway, your decision seems much easier as DBS is among the most preferred by parents.

坦白講，孩子在蔡繼有是很開心的。我認識有些家長三位小朋友都在蔡繼有，有些是插班入讀的，而原校亦屬傳統名校。這也證明蔡繼有實具可愛之處才能吸引家長付昂貴學費入讀。蔡繼有無可疑問能提供無壓的學習環境予學生，但作為家長的，就可給予學生適當壓力，督促學生。好像現在全校的學生都要為三月提交的science project作出準備，而小兒就很雀躍地要找題材，還說要怎麼怎麼做。這種積極投入的精神，作為家長的我聽後都感到欣慰。
我認識一位就讀DBSPD小五的學生家長，DBSPD亦是有很多projects要做的，但每當學校要求學生做projects的時侯，該名家長就很頭痛，因為每一個都計分，所以學生做時，家長亦會一起做。但在蔡繼有，因為没有分數的壓力，家長的協助就可相對減少（我亦曾協助小兒製作中文的projects，因為他的中文較差），但英文的projects，他都可自行處理（除了教他上網找資料）。這就是有壓力及無壓力的分別喇！

Congratulations!
2 more reasons for choosing DBSPD:
1. DBSPD has its own canteen. CKY order lunch boxes from outside caterer. (Health concern)
2. DBSPD got subsidy from Gov't. CKY is private. CKY's parents are actually being double taxed! (Pocket concern)
Therefore, it's no need to register at CKY. Please leave more chances for others. 功德無量!

其實你朋友所面對, 亦係我地所擔憂. 講真句, 我地兩公婆都要返工, 而我更要跟上司四圍飛, 好多時靠仔仔主動, finished all home assignments and read books....
不過點都好, 我倆已有共識...而我地都好明白為人家長嘅心情, 所以我地絕唔會hold 住個位.

咁講,其實CKY教出黎嘅學生, 學識比起傳統名校更為廣博, 因無課程及課本嘅限制. 不過唯一問題係未必涵接到本地課程.

你好,我囝囝雖最後沒有被dbs簡選,但yw早前已收了,也是心儀學校之一,當然,我們也在等待cky result,我們跟你有點相似,而且囝囝已在跟cky一樣學習模式的kinder讀,我是深感囝囝當中得益,真的沒有壓力,但語文能力很好,我們做父母的,更是輕鬆的,因此,很多囝囝的學長也考進cky,他們的父母跟我分享時,也是十分讃賞的.相反,我的同事(囝囝在yw讀P.5)今天跟我說,他的孩子近來因為要應付排山倒海的默書,測驗等,竟緊張得叫他早上5時起床溫習,...哈哈!好像是誇張了一點,但也感受到殊不簡單的學習生活.我的同事忠告,要有心理準備,跟孩子一起學習...,因出名的學校對家長也有期望的. 這點,我是明白的.所以如要在兩所不同風格的學校選其一,是要有很大的決心的,當然,還要看孩子的意願!

For me, since I didn't know you and your kids, it will be very hard for me to comment which one is better....
My believe is, no matter how the school are, it will be a match (similar to a marriage), what school lift, what you want your kids to be and how your family want and could be provide to work together with the school the train your kid. Not only evaluate what the school can be provided, bu also check how your family can fit for the school, how you can partnered well (and in a synchronize way) that build up the kids to what you expected.
No definate answer, some of my friend want their kids grow up under pressure (because they think that is the reality and it reflect the future work) so that they won't have problem in the future. While some like their kids to learns without so much pressure and so does the parents...
I really like CKY and the other schools that I registered for my kids are also in the same type HKBUP, Creative, Logos..
Just share my thought jar..

If both cky and yw accept your son, then what will you choose??
Would you mind to tell me which kinder your son is studying now? My son is studying in CCKG which trained him in more self-discipline way and with good Eng. foundation.
To be honest, my son showed rather happy after the 2nd in of cky but behaved rather silence after 2nd in of dbs. We, actually, didn't know what's happen during the 2nd in conducted by the 2 schools but we haven't asked him coz we didn't want to put too much pressure on him.
These days, we asked him if both cky and dbs accept hime, which school he like most, he just replied :" both is ok la~"
So, I can't find any "hints" from my son....
Anyway, thanks so much for your sharing.

I called CKY just now re the result release date. The lady advised that the soonest for parents to receive notification by post is end of 2007/early 2008. Let's keep waiting then.

I called school last next. The lady replied that there was a waiting list and rejected list. However, she did not answer how many canadates were on waiting list. Cheer up !

DBS is also one of the top school in town, so congragulation to your son la ! But it seems that your son also join the 2nd interview, I have called and the lady told me that all kids that joined the 2nd interview will place in the waiting list wor. So it is different from what the lady told..

I just phoned to CKY to clarify my case. The staff is very nice and replied that ALL applicants who attended 2nd in should receive either acceptance letter or waiting list letter. She stated she will check it for me.
Yeah...most parents in BK is nice and gentle

We decide to accept the offer.
BTW, is there any adjustment program/class arranged by CKY for new comers in summer vacation? It is a concern to me, since I have to plan for removal and summer program at the same time.

MTR get off in Tin Hou station. I don't know if there is any mini bus, but if you walk, it takes about 10-15min.

You can get off at Cheung Sha Wan MTR Station and then walk around 15-20 mins to SSP Campus.
Or, you can take Bus 2, 2A, 112, 970 which have a bus stop very near SSP Campus (within 2 min walk)

It's a pity that your kid can't follow her brother entering the school. Don't give up and you should know the approach of CKY, so just let your kid train up to be more outspoken and don't lost her innocent when studying in other school this year. Whether the music camp is day camp or overnight camp? Does every student need to choose one music instrument before 9/2008? The choice is based on interest or ability? Will teacher match music instrument for my son?

Don't give up to 'knock door' before 9/2008. I think your daughter still get a chance even she was not on waiting list, since some vacancy will be free anyway. I chated witha senior teacher in first interview day, and she encouraged unsuccessful cases sending letter to school and they would call those cases for interview again if there was vacancy.

are most existing students living in kowloon side? any school buses run in HK side now? many thanks.
I also concern about the school bus arrangement. For travelling sake, I plan for removal (but no idea for location yet). You know, CKY will move back to SSP around second term of Year 2, so I hesitate to move to HK side at this moment.
I hope I can get the school bus company's phone no. for enquiring their route and schedule on registration date.

I phoned to cky last week wishing to clarify if my son got REJECTED OR ON WAITING LIST and the staff replied that there're only WAITING LIST and ACCEPTANCE for those attended 2nd in.
So, I think those kids who had attened 2nd in but got REJECTED can try to phone CKY to clarify the case. If your kid on WAITING LIST, then the chance still there lor~
Don't give up at that moment. The best is waiting for you ga~
