We live in New Territories.....
Don't worry! The postman delievers letters at different time in a day.
And sometimes, there might be too many letters in the district to deliever that they cannot finish it on Sat (Half day work only).
I think the school just send the letter earlier, so that they can be sure that on 17th Dec, all the applicants will get their confirmation letters.
Good luck to everybody.....and good luck to me....to convince myself and my husband.....

但經過一輪"訓練".
似乎細仔都可以train既, 所以真係要考慮!

OnHo你好厲害, 可以train到兩個仔咁叻....
我的困難就是....
其實大仔我從來都沒有train過佢,
我同老公都好忙, 見佢地的時間好有限.
都係家庭樂為主
從細到大, 佢都沒有參加過任何學術班,
如英文, 公文等, 什麼都沒有.
佢今次考到, 好大原因係好彩,
佢天生較成熟, 學野快.
細仔就唔同, 佢對文字沒有哥哥那麼敏感,
音樂及運動方面就較有天份.
在我們這個隨緣的家庭中,
細仔考到的機會微乎其微.
我老公也不會贊成我去intensively裁培細仔....
所以真係好難決定.....

宏媽,
其實我兩個仔仔既性格同你果兩個簡直一模一樣!
大仔係成熟d, 學術上都叻, 幼稚園時期, 期期頭三名, 攞品學兼優獎咁, 所以雖然佢係"細仔"(11月出世), 我都係半年前train佢同d陌生人傾計, 禮儀咁!
但細仔就 ... ... 爸爸曾問過我:弟弟係咪過度活躍症? 讀書又成日無記性, 點算?!
依家真係好好彩, 我都係早大半年去train, 所以你個細仔都ok既, 考慮下!

平日我會叫d仔仔自己講俾d cafe 既姐姐知, 自己想食 mud 野, 又要佢早上見到人, 一定要大聲清楚地打招呼, 適當性地講 "唔該", "多謝", "對唔住" 咁... 行路唔准佢地太扎扎跳, 做運動就例外!
仲有逢星期日& 公眾假期, 我同爸爸仲忙過返工, 因為要諗下帶d寶貝去邊一度見識下, 好似果d博物館, 公園咁!

如果你為左個細仔, 而唔俾個大仔讀, 對個大仔唔公平, 相信你個大仔下了很大的努力去考, 千萬不要放棄, otherwise 你會後悔一世,現在倒不如努力d train 下個細仔, 仲有時間一定得, 千萬不要要大仔放棄dbs, 真係好難考, 勸下你老公.

我都有過同你老公差不多的想法。但想深一層，阿哥既然經過一番努力，若果有幸被取錄，無理由輕易放棄。不然，似乎有點不尊重他。
此外，我們也很難向大仔解釋－－為甚麼他當初聽父母話全力以赴，但成功逹成目標後卻不用堅持理想。最重要的，是不要小看細仔的能力。

I also got the letter and my son....GOT ACCEPTED. So surprised!!!!!! 記得係2nd in 時, 個panel俾我地感覺不大好. 仔仔見完出黎又唔出聲, 我地都打定輸數. 點知下晝一開信箱, 起封信, 就即時心跳加速, 因摸到似有"份量"...一打開就....簡直唔識形容 .
Anyway, 我地都會等埋cky, 但實在係太驚喜喇

我同你情況一樣, 都係有些擔心細仔第日考不到. 但係既然哥哥咁好彩考到, 我唔想浪費了這機會呢! 細仔到時先算啦! 唔知你覺唔覺細佬係比哥哥聰明一點的, 加上哥哥係到讀緊, 所以應該機會會大一點呢!

Hi, 各位on waiting list 既媽咪,
以我所知, 會有150位小朋友得到正取生身份,
再有大約三, 四十位收到備取生信
之後全部都係未能成功既!
一般黎講, 正取生一月初註冊完, 就會知有幾多空缺, 但學校一般會等到大約四月五月至call waiting list小朋友! 有人話過我知, DBSPD既 waiting list係會被邀請 做"第三次面見"!但要等到出年四, 五月!
以上係往年既資料, 今年唔知有無變?!

I want to check for my friend that her son is NOT ACCEPTED after the 2nd interview. She wants to know if there's any chance for her to "knock the door" again in April 2008 coz she really wants her son to be dbs boy. So would you mind to share something with me so that I can tell her.
By the way, congratulations to you. Although we will wait for the result from another school, but honestly, both my husband and I really felt surprise and happy on getting ACCEPTED. No matter how, we will register for my son and wish our boy will be the classmate in near future.

各位,
早, 希望大家過咗個weekend, 情緒clam down咗. 我當然鬧心, 但絕對不夠我一個月, 收到St. Paul Boys 的offer 咁陶心. 點解?? 容我在此share 吓我這２個月嘅心情及見觧, encouragement.
這２個月心情真像roller coaster咁. 由信心澎拜 (before all the interviews), 到谷底 (when most of the interviews were done and gather informally from one of the schools which I believed my son performed the best (as it was the only one that he did not cry) that his score was very poor and near “bottom” of the list (not sure what list they were referring to), 到上月突然有St. Paul Boys 收咗而轉為很知足, 到今天DBS在沒期望, 沒壓力之下得到取錄的消息, 感慨良多. 過程學會了許多 - 好很時, 得失是一線之差ｏ 從得(以為) 到失, 是很難面對ｏ從失而有, 真是感欣. 現在從有而”得”, 咸覺是幸運.
幸運非必然的. 知足常樂
– never never lost faith in your loved child whom must be talented in one way or the other.

好多謝你的安慰, 可能自己好鍾意dbs, 所以仔仔都好鍾意. 當收到只是waiting list, 仔仔即刻哭了, 好心痛, 自己亦都哭了好久.
其實, 仔仔都已有一間好好的學校收了, 只不過覺得在過去數年我和仔仔所花的努力和成績, 無理由唔收. 但經過思前想後, 入唔到亦未必係損失, 最重要係仔仔讀得開心, 同埋在我心目中佢已經好棒.
(他最近在兩個公開賽都拿了優異成績)

Honestly, for P.1, there's keen competition. How come it will have "spare place" for P.2.

Where are you living in? You may try to check with the school bus company if they can arrange to pick up your boy nearby your living place.
Don't give it up coz it's really a golden chance.

Hey, both my husband and I need to work. I also need to travel with my boss, so.....
Like you, we spend less time on teaching our son but just enjoyed the leisure time with him, say on Sundays or Public Holidays, we usually went out for outings...etc. Luckily that my son was trained having self-discipline. He did all homeworks by himself after school and we just checked it when we went home.
So, don't worry too much. If your son is accepted by dbs, then that's his chance.

你都唔駛煩咁多，只要盡力而為就可以了。
我個仔都係怕醜仔一名，2nd in 報到時個老師問佢叫乜名，他只是好細聲地答（其實係細到聽唔到）。個老師問佢係咪好怕醜，佢就直情縮埋喺我吔後面。我心想，都死咗一半；點知又俾佢搞掂。
見咗咁多學校，我都覺得小孩子的表現比其他可能的因素重要。此外，每間學校所揀的小孩子都有所不同。我同個仔見咗幾間直資，間間都唔得，淨係 DBS 得。所以都係唔擔心得咁多。

i) Now, we have the offer from DBS, do we need to write to the other school (in my case St. Paul Boys) to withdraw ?
ii) as i told you, we are traveling and only back to HK on Jan 6. I have called the school to check if i need to go by person. The lady sounds very impatient and said "have someone coming ah!". Do u think it is OK ?

Honestly, we are waiting for the result from another school -- cky. We love these 2 schools and that's why we applied them for our son.
If cky also accept our son, then....????
Forgive our "selfish" that we will register dbs first. As cky is private school, not dss, so we have time to wait for the result and then make final decision.
So, we will join Open House Day and let our son to feel it again.....

Just one question: is CKY a DSS? I thought it is all the time. But their leaflet says they are 'through train quality private school', very confusing? As for TSL, they says they are a DSS primary school, but without a secondary school. Can anyone clarify: what is the meaning of DSS vs private school?

DSS means that the school is subsidized by the government.
Private school means that the school operates at the sponsoring organisation's own expense.

QUESTION (2) -if you really cannot make the registration on your own, I believe you can authorise somebody to assist you. Don't miss those three days, otherwise, the school will think that you decline the offer. For safety, I advise you to call the general office to confirm it. If you trust me, I can help you to make the registration!

本人開立了以下 thread 的原因是想了解其實 DBS 與 SPCC 是否有很多重覆的小孩在當中，若然係的話，兩校的 Waiting List 的小朋友確實好有機會被交叉補上的，越多重覆，機會越大的。
可惜 so far 知道兩家都被收的機會實在不太多，莫非兩家要的對象是兩種很不同類型的小朋友而導致同被收錄的不多 ??
(1) 請問各位被取錄的 DBS 家長們，您們的小朋友有否同時被 SPCC 取錄 ?
(2) 請問您們最終會選那一間 ?
