請問面試要帶什麼? 是否需要帶幼稚園評估報告及美勞作品?謝謝!
作者: gab    時間: 07-12-14 00:08

The documents required to be brought to the interview should have been listed in the interview offer letter.
Last year, we have to bring along the latest school reports from the current kindergarten, proof of address and photocopy of my child's passport.  Never heard of ESF primary schools wanting to see the art work of the applicants though...
Best of luck to your child!

hi bbtung & gab,

Thank you so much for your replies.

Your letters are different from mine.  My letter didn't state anything that I shall bring along.

Hi bbtung,

My child will have an interview in Jan.
I am quite worried about your performance during the interview.
Grateful if you can give any hints for me to train up my kid, thanks.

Hi Yau_Cheung: in that case, if I were you, I'd call the school's Admissions Secretary and find out the answer ASAP.

To all those with kids facing the forthcoming interview

No panic.

Per my understanding, the interview will be held in a relaxed format  All they want to know is whether the kids can be taught in the all-English environment.

Don't expect any horrific scene!

Dear yy_hippo,

I just share some experience  for your reference.

During the interview :-

Your kid should speak English all the time.

Your kid should be active to answer the teacher's questions if he knows the answer.

To talk with the other kids in English.

Don't fight and argue with other kids. ( although seldem occurs )

BUT I think the above may be the side dishes, their main requirement is fluent spoken English ( i.e. as fluent as an English or mother tongue ). They require a kid who can communicate with the teacher effectively in English and is suitable to be taught in all-English environment.

Good Luck !

Hi bbtung,

I have heard of somebody saying those interviewers would speak "Chinese/ Catonese" in a sudden to check if the child knows the language.
If the child answers, they will immediately be put to the FAIL list.
Is this true?

Thank you for your sharing.

Dear Maria,

My friend told me that during her son's interview in KJS, her son was asked to give a blue book to the teacher in Cantonese. Her son can understand Cantonese and follow the instruction. Her son was failed.

I don't know whether her son was rejected due to this point.

Same experience to some of my colleagues.

However, my daughter cannot tell me whether she has been asked in Cantonese in her interview.

hi bbtung,

Would you mind to share which ESF primary is your girl studying now?  Many thanks.

If the school turn down the applicant with this reason, it seems the school unreasonable.
Children should give feedback if what they understand. If they can understand Chinese but not give feedback, it is impolite. I hope the ESF will not treat the student like these.

面試的主要目的係想知道小朋友的英語溝通能力.冇須要去試個小朋友識唔識chinese/cantonese. 大部份考英基都係香港人,又點會唔識中文丫,如果係的話又唔見佢係收生條件中寫明識廣東話唔收.點解要trip個小朋友呢?

Agree.  Can speak in cantonese isn't equivalent to not proficient in english.

Dear all,

Please note the ESF admission criteria as stated in their website and quote below for your information :-

Category One
Children who speak English as a first or alternative language but do not speak Cantonese and/or read and write Chinese characters.

Category Two

Children who can access the local system but who also meet ESF's entrance requirements.

I opine that the interviewer may only want to clarify the applicants should be Category One or Two.

Applicants belong to Category One will have priority.

My daughter has studied in KJS for several years. My own feeling and opinion to this school is that they are open to the parants and fair to all students.

Just my two cents.

Dear bbtung.
Thank you for the sharing.
By knowing this, it helps me to determine what kind of kindergarten as a target for our application in coming year.
Yes, I am pathing the way for my daughter who is 18 months-old now. We want her to go to ESF as her couson does (from Beacon Hill to KGV - now 8th Grade).
It seems I should focus on pure English kindergarten thatwould be much better. (Her couson studied in Starters, Wan Chai).

But how can I prevent her doing what she is asked to do and what she may know a bit?

Maria
