這兩間小學, 應如何選, 那間較好?

It's difficult to judge which is better.  What's your ideal school for your child?  This is purely your own preference.  Both school enjoy high reputation and high academic standard. Their differences:

St Mary vs St Paul's Convent

- subsidized vs private ($$)
- Kowloon vs HK Island (travelling time)
- CMI vs EMI (personnally I think this is not important as both school has the same high Eng. standard.)
- Sisters in St. Mary may be more strict in dicipline (as I learned from one of my friends who graduated there years ago.)
- you may also consider this, comparatively, study in St. Mary may has a higher pressure on obtaining high marks while St. Paul's place less pressure on this aspect.

Dear KYKWAN

Thanks. Any special reason that you prefer St. Mary?

Dear KK07

Thanks. Here's my dilemma. I'm living in Kln side. So St. Mary is nearer. Actually I prefer school that's more relax and open cos my girl is very talkative but doesn't have too much motivation to work hard. I'm a bit worry whether she can adapt to the strict environment of St. Mary.

Free education is of course v. attractive but not my major concern.

BTW, is life of St. Paul starting from P4 become harder?

Million thanks.

Yan

Understand yr concern, it's really a difficult decision, however, it's a happy problem cos yr daughter has two good choices.

My own feeling is that the pressure during P5-6 becomes suddenly higher, esp. in Eng and Chin.  Students are expected to have a really good language foundation to deal with the tests and exams.

Hope this can help.

How many P6 students of St. Mary are promoted to its secondary school.  Is it a subvented school?

For St. Paul Convent, its secondary school is a DSS.  It does admit all its P6 students as long as they pass on major sujbects in their in-house exam.

Actually St Mary's Primary School and the College became one train dragon from 2005, therefore, if your daughter's academic report is not too bad, she can go straight to the secondary school.

Hope it may help.

兩間都係好學校。好簡單,住九龍咪St. Mary,小學及中學都是政府津貼,不用交學費。住香港咪St. Paul Convent囉,但就要考慮要交學費。

Agree.  If both are good schools, I'll pick the closer one.

Dear all,

Someboday told me that St. Mary's is a Chinese primary school but St. Paul's Convent is an English primary school.  Is it true?
作者: Sevendwarfs    時間: 07-12-11 14:07

Surely St. Paul's Convent is an English school!  It is a very good school and the average English standard of its students is very high!

All

But I heard some hearsay that St Mary would ask their students whose performance is not so good as expected to leave the school.... Is it true? Therefore, upon P.5 or P.6 the students there ready for F.1 already are the qualified ones ... for SMCC

Is it true?

St. Mary's change their approach as learned from other forum.  P.1 to P.3 changed to active teaching while P.4 resume triditional teaching.  I think is is a good change.
