Even though we only know each other via here, i want to say thank you for all the encouraging messages you have for me. I still remember when i was so down and feel frustrated, helpless, lost and worry, you told me not to give up.

To all parents, please keep it up as there is always hope tommorrow. Trust me, life was like hell to me since last month when my son started the interview process. Couldn't recall the number of sleepless nights, quarrels with my husband, ... to a point, i was both physically and emotionally affected.

Hung Hom and West Tunnel are run by different buses currently. For those close to West Tunnel (eg. around Olympic or Kowloon Station areas), the pick up time is around 7:30am. Drop off time is around 4:00pm.

I am not sure the one at Hung Hom, I think it's earlier as it goes via the Cross Harbour tunnel but not West Tunnel. Anyway, the routes change ever year depends on pupils' location.

The other option is taking the boy by yourself or maid. It takes 15 mins from Olympic City to school by public bus.

I believe my boy is not smart. He is just average in class. That's why I am still worried to receive another letter of reject these days!!!
Both my hubby and I do not have any relation with Coed.
We are Catholics, so no religion marks for this school.
The reason he got 2nd interview for Coed, I presume, is that he looks taller than other kids and he is born in Jan!

My son is in P1 and I just share what I know here:

1.功課多少
It's reasonable. My son can finished within a hour. However, the web excercise is quite time consuming (but it's not compulsory)

2.老師是否有愛心，是否關心小朋友各方面發展
My son's class teacher is very nice. I know the parents of another 2 classes, their comments are also positive. The headmistress is also very considerate that you should not be surprised if you receive her call.

3.是否注重德育的培養
IMO, SPC is a traditional school that they concern about moral education and discipline. The lesson of G/C focuses on moral eductaion as well. Some of the parents even think the school is too tough. But I think boys need more discipline

4.讀書壓力是否很大
The pressure from school is not that high when comparing with the peer groups. According to my observation in these few months, the expectation of parents are so high that most of the students' test/dictation results are really good. If your average is 8X points, you may only be ranked as about 20/30 only.

Paul Boy not yet get direct connet to Secondary, but they are "working", I think it is possitive coz we have 6 yrs time

Not fair to compare Coed & Paul boy, coz difference style school types..... it depends on you & your kid suit or not....Coed's kids' family background are quite "HIGH", Paul Boy more down to earth. (my point of view only)

For me, I'm rather puzzled now....

See if someone can help me.

It's the first time I enter the "

rimary School" section of BK (I used to read about kinders).  Since St Paul's Boys is one of the dream schools for my son, I wish if anybody can give me an advice.

My 2 yr 3 mth old son has recently got the offers from SKH and St Paul's Church Kinders (both am class) (plus some other kinders as well such as KCS).  At first, we just wished to play safe by trying more so-called good kinders, but have never thought of choosing SKH & SPCK even if given an offer, because people say their English curriculum is not strong enough.

However, during these few days I have heard so many people in the BK Kinders Section that these 2 kinders have quite good primary 1 allocation track record.  Could somebody advise if these kinders are good or not?  (my original plan is to put my son into two kinders, one local (KCS to have strong exposure in Putonghua) and one international.

The registration deadline for SKH is 23 Nov while that for St Paul's Church is 24 Nov.  Should I pay the registration fees first for both, or either one (then which one is better)?

May I have your kind and timely advice pls (if your son is chosen by St Paul's Boys, pls also share which kinder your boys study now) Thanks very much!

Yes. If you accept offer from Direct Subsidized School (like St. Paul's Boys), you are not eligible to get a place through central allocation.

If you accept the offer made by DSS, no matter Boys or Co-ed, the school will submit a list to the Education Dept. ED won't even send you the 'lottery ticket' (allocation form) for the 2nd round. It is unlikely that the school hold the place for you until the final result is out next June.

It's the practice in the previous years. Would other parents please correct me if it is not the case this year.

I agree that the homework can usually be finished within an hour, but I can't agree that the it is of reasonable amount.

The principal / vice-principal told in a briefing that they aim at giving homework to P.1 pupils which they can finish within 1/2 hour according to the guidelines of Education Dept.

I found the homework level quite tough for a P.1 boy in terms of 'no. of pieces'. It is very often that there are 2 pieces of work (excluding correction) from each subject. I did not expect 6, 7 items of homework before.

Also, I personally don't like that the school adopt the supplementary exercises that are sold in market as routine course work.

Actually, I'm actually nervous too. Some of the student"S" I know really get 100 marks in the test. And most of them get 9X.

My wild guess (or logical conclusion

),
Rank 1-10: 95 or above
Rank 11-20: 90 or above
Rank 20-30: Under 90

Of course, some of the student get 7X but it's really rare case.

Again, it's only my "WILD GUESS". Don't treat it seriously.

my son was accepted by both kinder 3 years ago and we took St paul church. They offer us morning session ma. And we are happy about the school even "yes" the kinder is as tough as some other school. However, it is a very good kinder in both teachers and parents.

For track record, please check it via the web.
My son is being accepted by one of the dream school we want. so we are ++ happy

其實我冇睇過個budget有swimming pool maintainence呢樣野 (應該咁講, 我又冇理過佢). 學校除左swimming team, 冇swimming lesson, 以我所知, swimming team上堂係去kennedy town swimming pool, 唔係中學部.

Also, my son got offer from SFA too. Which you do you think is better? Disregard of where we live.

【專案組報道】新一輪小一學生入學報告正在展開，其中港島南區有數間著名直資及私立小學即將陸續「空降」，勢必成為新一代名校區，部分南區津貼小學校長擔心受津校「威脅」，收生質素會下降。事實上，南區樓盤租售近期顯著飆升，地產代理坦言很多業主為子女前途而即將遷入居住，估計明年更是「睇樓」的高峰期。
前任特首董建華任內提出要在○七年全面實施小學全日制，但至今為止，在○七、○八學年尚有三十間小學未變成全日制。多項新建校舍計劃將於未來幾年陸續完成。
最令家長關注的是由今年至二○一一年，四所學校包括滬江維多利亞學校、弘立書院、聖保羅男女中學附屬小學及聖保羅書院小學會陸續遷入南區。
當中聖保羅男女中學附屬小學發言人強調，明年的遷校不會加劇南區學校小一收生競爭，因為直資學校並非統一派位收生。不過，一位區內津貼小學校長則認為，雖然學生的招收來源有別，但在「名牌效應」下，該校的學生家庭背景可能會下降，因家境較好的學生家長會傾向到直資小學叩門。
名校搬遷令不少家長「陣腳大亂」，居於中西區的陳太，其長子已入讀聖保羅男女附屬小學二年級，原本幼子可順理成章升讀該校，獲悉學校會遷校後，她為減少長子上下課奔波折騰及增加幼子的入讀機會，決定搬屋遷就。
其實，名校未完全搬到南區，已帶旺該區樓盤交投，利嘉閣薄扶林及港島西區域經理招佩貞透露，家長客的查詢有所增加，單是為了入讀弘立書院，就有十宗成交。她相信部分家長在入學後才物色樓盤，料○八年中是家長客「睇樓」高峰期。

The principal did not give any definite date about the new campus in the briefing as far as I am concerned. She even said it might not be the proposed address. I understand that she did not want to give a very high expectation to parents when everything is not so concrete, but I can see their determination on having a new campus.

During the tour, I find all the rooms are newly renovated, which gives me some surprises as people always said the building is quite old.

Hi andrewpapa,

Oh! That's very interesting to know this little story about the school. I doubt if my husband knows about it as he only spent his secondary school life there. He said those coming from the primary section were very competitive even though he had got scholarship through F.1 to F.7 ....

you husband should know. The primary entrance is at hing hong Road. each level only got 2 classess, am and pm. And they are beside the classroom for art and music. Of course that is before the primary moved to Hill Road la

佢叫大家抺左佢, 在傾搬校既過程中遇到好多好多波折, 所以無法知道幾時會搬, 就算唔搬都唔出奇, 佢係答問時間講.

不過, 最緊要d小朋友學到野, 學校知道先天不足, 都盡量不斷改善現有設施去配合.

To Hui Tung,

Sorry for the late reply. after talking to many friend and teachers and my son and my sons schoolmate parent.

I decide to take Paul Boy, due to fact that my son like interactive teaching with traditional value and lots of after school extracurriculum. also, one mama told me that last year, 8X of 90 students went to Paul boy secondary.

I might skip one more torture

and the 1st round luck draw is a very traditional band 1 school in Hong Kong.

40 books to read in one week. and my friend told me that he has to visit teacher once a while coz his son only got 9ish but not 100 from test.

I think i also can't handle it

There are around 40-50 for 1st batch waiting list as I could see in the briefing. The principal said there were only 3 seats left for 1st batch after the registration last year.
