Will the panel ask the child any question?

Someone said that after the parents answered the question(s), they would left the interview room. The child will complete the 2nd part of the interview then.

I'm a little bit nervous now!

I keep on telling myself the chance is just half half and try to be relax. Anything we can prepare for the child?

Hi all,

Just want to share what had been happened this morning regarding the 2nd interview in DBSPD. We arrived 15 mins earlier as the letter mentioned, however, we still needed to wait for an hour for the interview. When we entered the room, we saw the headteacher, 一位高貴的校董 and 一位嚴肅的主任. The headteacher was very nice and smiled all the time. She asked us JUST one Q and used the timer to count down how long we need to take. She asked:你對香港學校有職員運用其特權而可另其子女入讀某些名校有什麼看法? As I could not sleep well last night and I didn't prepare that she would ask me such question, so I was shocked for a while...........

I'm very worry and can't sleep well these days. Honestly, they still need to choose 1 from 2, so the possibility is 50%. Ai....what can I do????? I nearly going towards crazy these days.....pls help

I was really nervous at that moment, I even forgot to hold my son's hand and went into the room together (even my hubby ask me to do so a few steps b4 we went into it)... the atmosphere made me couldn't breath, very silent, and seated 3 ladies inside, (好似電視中考"邦板"咁, 可能自己見工都未試過咁環境), I remembered that I forgot to help my son to get on that chair (have wheels) because I was so nervous. Luckily he could climb up by himself finally. (I am really a not good enough mom!!

) As I didn't know how to answer at once, my hubby looked at me and then he answered for me, but later, the headteacher still asked me to say something.... maybe she realized that I was shocked and still wanted me to say something....... I just thought that 1-2 mins just like a year long for me..... really couldn't imagine how can those kids stand for it.

I had asked my son what did he do with the 3 ladies, he said they passed him 2 Eng story books and asked him to choose one and read to them, then they also asked him some questions about the book. He said those books has many many eng words at each page, even have pictures.

I am not care about the result la...... and I think he did it really well already.... at least better than me!

Tks so much for yr sharing! You're so nervous just because caring of yr son's education. So, you're a very good mum! I believe all of us will have the same feeling of you. Until this stage of 2nd interview, we've only 50/50 chance. Just see how luck they're! God bless you and good luck to all of us!

各位有份參加DBSPD 2nd in.的家長:

小兒現正是DBSPD的小一生，還記得去年我也是和你們的一樣緊張，入到interview room驚到差點出不到聲，個仔仲坐到成個「扒」了在枱面，我又沒有任何背景，〔唯一有優勢就是在根德園畢業，現在有很多同學也是根德園生，而且本人覺得DBSPD的課程好像是根德園課程的延續，測驗考試的形式也很相似，難怪收了很多根德畢業生〕。

所以，大家如果覺得自己in.表現唔好，也不要咁快打定輸數，尤其是在根德園讀的，因你的仔仔好大機会架！

在DBSPD上了幾個月課，覺得這裡的教師程度很高，很有愛心，教法又很有效，例如英文是二年級至三年級程度，但也不需要補習，學校教了小朋友已可應付考試，而且功課少，學習氣氛又好，之前我從沒有想像讀名校可以如此輕鬆的！

Dear 1429,

Last year, I encountered the same situation as you! My husband's greatest strength was : good communication and presentation skills. He needed to deliver speeches to several hundred people regularly. However, during the interview, he became nervous and could not exercise his strength and even disappointed me very much!!! Having finished the interview, my husband blamed hisself and could not sleep well.

For my son, he said that a woman had asked him to play bricks and to describe what he had built. My son expressed that he was unhappy as the woman criticized his product very much. However, luckily, he could still get a place in the school.

As long as you have made your best effort for the interview, you are always the best parent of your son!!!

Dear all,

Last night, I had dinner gathering with my boss and some of his friends (coz some of them are common friends of both of I and my boss). During the dinner, one of the friends told me that her friend's friend's friend's son got STRAIGHT IN. to db 2 years ago without 2nd in because of some "special connection".

I was so shocked on this

Would anyone heard abt such "rumor" or it's ture for some "people"

我諗實有人識果d校董既, 如果有校董介紹, 應該都唔駛憂慮!
至於好似我地呢d唔識d大人物既, 就真係要靠小朋友的個人實力!
講真, 我夠識我個仔既班主任＆校長, 但細仔都一樣要經過2nd interview呢個環節, 絕無特別優待&優勢!　　總之大家努力到最後喇！

Yeah, I also have such feeling coz we have NO special connection as well.

Apart from 1429, I found no further sharing regarding 2nd interview. Should there anybody has attended 2nd in during these days? Would anyone mind to share more with us.

Even though my son may have no such chance to get in db, but I also want to prepare well for it, so please share something with us

各位,
其實 dbs 收生,都有好多一早內定.如果唔係點解唔係校內web site 公佈300名,係很多拉關係人仕插隊, 所以便不能好像其他school 公開名單.另外有部份學生根本是用來做炮灰, 如有去的都見到,有d 小朋友根本都未必有足夠水平,因是校董一起倏 interview,自然會收到(她們)想要的小朋友,如個個都好,選不到(她們)一早應允收的咪大project,點同各位boss 交待. 因校董個個都有頭有面,冇必要搵有關係的小朋友入學,有批砲灰,自然成功率大很多. 而且佢地都唔係睇成績,最重要是1)關係 2) 走得,打得,游得,因近來學界攞獎是首要目標, 目的淡化早前行賄和舞會打架負面消息. 3)成績是最後,她們不担心學生父母唔比錢佢地出去補習班咩.
所以之前有post 話要插小二,除非你個仔打ping pong,雞毛球,swim 出色先有得插班,唔係比喇沙 OR YING WAH 收了咪大PROJECT.

明報專訊】拔萃小學爆出有女教師涉嫌收受家長賄款，訛稱可安排學生入讀的醜聞。拔萃男書院校長張灼祥強調，男拔收生有能者居之，甚至「要人不要錢」，提供獎學金招攬學生，家長必須循正當途徑替子女報讀，日後會於升小講座再三提醒家長。

指收生程序已交廉署

拔萃男書院校長張灼祥指出，事件在調查中，不便評論。他強調，男拔與是次事件無關，該校前年已主動將收生程序交予廉政公署檢視，確保收生程序不存在貪污漏洞。他稱，男拔收生是有能者居之：「總之是叻仔就收！」校方更會物色出色的學生，提供獎學金吸引他們前入讀。

他又表示，校方日後會在升小的講座中，再三提醒家長必須循正當途徑報讀，認為毋須因是次事件而全面檢討學校收生程序。

小拔斷龍另辦新小拔一條龍

拔萃男書院幾年前與拔萃小學結束直屬關係，拔萃小學頓失「保送」優勢， 05年 9月及後入讀的小一學生不能再享有直升男拔的優勢。男拔興建新直資拔萃男書院附屬小學（新小拔），所有畢業生可直升男拔。張灼祥指出，日後中學收畢小學直升的學生後，餘下學額會在公平情况下取錄其他學校的學生。

他稱，拔萃男書院附屬小學的收生過程嚴謹：「現時小學（新小拔）收生經過校董會成員和學校管理委員會一起決定，並非個別人士可決定。」就算校長及老師，也是與學生面試當日才得悉面試題目。

饋贈逾 200元須申報

張灼祥表示，學校有嚴謹的防貪指引，例如教師不可替學生補習，收受 200元以上的任何形式饋贈均要向校長申報：「沒有教師有權去收學生。」他又指，學校亦不會因為收受捐款，而取錄捐款人的子女入讀。

Then what can I do coz I just applied 2 schools for my boy. If dbspd already "planned" the list for their P.1, then it means I have only ONE chance for my son. Oh..no....

其實 ying wah 和 st.paul co-ed 都reject ,只有cky 2nd in 和 st paul waiting list.
但我都冇寫 post 發表對她們不滿,但 dbs 的做法,肯定有不公平和問題,難道我所提出的不出web site 不是有人插入嗎,che che man ,fatfat wong 所post 的是假的嗎? 我有朋友的仔仔連1st in test 什麼都講不出,一样有 2nd in.炮灰理論是她自己對我說的. 如果不信,請到dbs 附近參觀, 有些是一看便知冇機會.
其實入唔入到 dbs 我都冇所謂,st paul co-ed 和 ying wah reject 我都有心理預備,點會心理不平衡,我只是為有關係和冇關係發表一下,難道她們解釋到點解唔係web 到公佈 300名, 因為那個staff 都好無辜,佢都唔知插幾多, 點通知你地.難道不是有小朋友1st in 很差都入到? 如果clpp 妳不相信,我可以把某個case file 平機會.由他們來做審查. 自然發現我不是心理不平衡,而是可憐的家長吧了.

既然大家都不相信,我只好把我所知的交平機會和報章定斷.
對於我小朋友未有2nd in ,我只有失望而不是有sour grapes 的感覺,希望各失落二輪面試的家長明白. 到現在都只是 clpp 和 ckc60 說我有唔抵得的評論,但對於我提出的論點,不仿提出反証.
而有知道有內幕黑暗面的,同樣請出post 支持.

最後我重申,我沒有唔抵得別人之感覺.請不要用此來否定我的論點來掩飾黑暗

祝各300多位入2 nd in 的學生努力.

連英華都唔收你小朋友，你有無想過是你們水準有問題呢？不要再浪費時間了，快些去一些適合你們的學校看看有沒有後備位，否則連次一級的也full了則更惨了。

首先,英華都是一間好學校,請不要侮辱別人.和有些看不起人家的感覺.

如你和 pelie都十分同意走後門便ok la. 我是提出為什麼300位名單沒有在web 公佈和搵其他炮灰讓其他目標學生入學. 你們好像不明白.如有些小朋友連1 st 問什麼都不知,都有機會入 2nd in .
你們不用這樣勞氣,來侮辱人家什麼快去搵學校.
和輸了不服氣等言論, 我再重申,我沒有這樣的感覺,只是回應 che che man 和 fatfat wong,你們是既得利益者,當然支持走後門. 我不是指責你們不對, 每位家長都會用他最好和最盡的方法幫小朋友,我是指他們不是搵最好的學生入選,而搵炮灰另其他目標入學,我都冇說我的小朋友如何如何好處. 只是回應別人的傳聞,所以請不要再侮辱人家.
當然入此topic 的家長大部份都是有2 nd in 和有用他們自己的方法. 但你們沒有論點反駁我反而像辱罵人家一樣,是否有點那過.我小朋友沒有開罪你們,有不同意見,像 clpp 一樣,拿出張校長言論,一樣歡迎.

但其中acer1 你說走後門都是他有辦法, 是否跟張校長的言論有出入 . pelie 我說的是公職人員,不是教職員為自己子女入學. 是公職人員為其他人幫忙入學, 請你不要動怒.

最後希望所有家長能為子女搵到理想的學位.

Learnt from my colleague who had attended 2nd interview of DBS, she shared that it would be better for the daddy to talk first and then the mammy. She felt that the school liked this "sequence". As for her, her son did not get a place,failed! She believed that the most critical "error" they made was, when the head teacher asked them a question and seemed to prefer her hubby to respond. However, her hubby turned to her, asking mammy to respond for him. My friend strongly felt that the headteacher disliked this arrangement ,and would appreciate the head of the family to speak first.

舊年, 我大仔有得2nd in, 好似都係我先答, 我先生補充, 之後後佢再答另一條問題! 因為panel開始問我地小朋友既性格先, 之後先至再問, 點解咁想小朋友入讀呢間學校!所以訪舍答先, 其實分別都唔大!

舊年, 我大仔有得2nd in, 好似都係我先答, 我先生補充, 之後後佢再答另一條問題! 因為panel開始問我地小朋友既性格先, 之後先至再問, 點解咁想小朋友入讀呢間學校!所以訪舍答先, 其實分別都唔大!

Tommorrow is our turn. Surprisely, i am not as nervous as i used to be. I am glad that i finally can be more "括" 出去. 學校固然影响阿仔一生,但家庭何防不是. 由瀑彭信心,到絕望,谷底. 現在得到一間唔錯的小學 "收"我個仔. 我巳很知足.現在是平常心. 與其整天,滿腦子都是DBS, 這幾天把時間,心情都放在 X'mas & New Year 的冬夏之旅. 感覺幾好.
但願天下父母皆如此, 家庭快樂D, 社會和諧D嘛!!

I think I have to apology for creating such "embarrassing" question upon receiving some info fr my friend several days ago.

BK is a rather good platform for all parents to share their views and experiences.  So don't turn such good platform to be a "battle field".

No matter how, all our kids are our "treasure" and we have to trust their ability and support them.

我的仔仔除了sfa和培僑收了外,ying wa 和陳守仁都2nd interview. 唯獨dbs 連2nd interview 都沒有.我最初都相信可能dbs喜歡收有點關係的人.但細心想下,假若你做dbs校長,也不會完全不理資質去收生而影嚮校譽.我覺得我兒子有時表現可能有反覆,再加上dbs巳interview 多年,他們或choose 性格和他們學校相合的人(尤其我知道1st interview 很多時間都是給小朋友玩和看電影),可能我的兒子在他們觀察下失了不少分數

p.s. however, later i get phone call from dbs ? missed call

I agree with clpp !
My son was lucky enough to get a place in grade one this year but we have zero marks in relationship column of
first round. What we have were lot of certifcates,acadmeic result, intensive training and a little bit of luck. Two other
boys in same class of K3 were also accepted, they also
have no relationship with DBS. Over 40 boys from the
same kindergaten were accepted, many of them have no direct relationship with DBS. I think this is because the training og this kinder is well matched with the direction of DBS. I do think some students were accepted thro' underground channel. However, similar situation happen in many
school such as LS, SPCC, YW...Therefore I still think that
the system of DBS is able to select outstanding students they wanted.

Parents tend to be very quiet during the period of second
interview (same happen last year). No one want to talk
about their experience because of ' two choose one' close
competition. I fully understood !!!!

The most important is to find a most suitable school for
your child but not the most famous.

學校會分別發出取錄信, 不被取錄信同備取信三種, 所有申請者都會有信, 包括無2nd interview既考生! 如果收備取信既, 大約應該有幾十人, 據講是一張無分ranking既名單, 要响剩餘無去註冊既名額, 例如10個咁話, 一般會邀請呢班"候選人", 再角逐第三輪面試, 再從中揀過!所以, 你問我機會大唔大, 我都唔知點答! 可以話都有機會既! 以上資料分別由三位都有大仔响DBSPD讀, 而細仔係從waiting list中先入選既媽咪親述我知既! 佢地都要等到下一年既四, 五月至被邀請再去接受面試! 希望我細仔可以"首輪"入選就好喇!

my son has finished 2nd interview yesterday. Basically, the principle and Director are very nice.
My son perform the second part quite creative and confidence (note : you never know the child's idea.)
I think the chance to enter DBS still 50-50.

我同大家依家既心情都係一樣---七上八落!
一方面好想快d到12月17日, 等收果封非常"厚"既信! 但另一方面, 又驚如果... ..., 咁個聖誕節假期就唔慌開心得去邊! 其實, 都係果句, 大家要做, 同可以做既都做晒, 所以拭目以待!

仲有就係唔好再諗面試喇, 不如諗下去邊度玩! 我聖誕節會一家去日本五日!

早晨! 啱啱幫完大仔溫習左一輪, 依家先上黎, 發現都幾多mummy掛住我添, 真開心!

17/12/2007出結果係根據學校校曆表上所寫而講俾大家知, 由第一日開始至今, 學校一直都好公開呢方面資料, 所以我都只係依書直說而已! 去年經驗係收信知結果, 無得上網check!

舊年個公佈日子大約係 20/12/2006, 而封信係dated 19/12/2006, 註冊日期就係4/1/2007-6/1/2007! 今年就17/12/2007公佈結果, 而收信可能都係果一兩日, 註冊日期為3/1/2008-5/1/2008!

我地會跟團去東京既樂園玩幾日, 都驚凍, 但又想氹下d仔仔, 所以... 總之, 大家過一個開心既假期, 仲有大家既仔仔可以做同學, 咁大家以後仲可以繼續交流下!

又要同大仔溫下書先~

I agree with ChiFungMom. I do not mind about the reality of special channels as it happens in anywhere.

My son finished the 2nd interview but the experience was hahahaha very poor. My son got sleepy and tempered after waiting for nearly two hours in the waiting room. He was tired and just lean on the chair in the interview room and did not pay attention to interview panel at all. He repeatedly asking us to leave.

The panel members are very nice, cheerful and elegant. They're the headteacher and an elegant lady from 校董會 (Ms Cheung or Ms Law? I forgot) and there's another lady who's 主任. We did not see Principal Cheung. When we were told to leave the room my son got temper and grapped us. He did not allow us to leave (it's very unusual as he likes to meet new friend s especailly he knew there's games to play).

It took a minute for us and the friendly 主任 to comfort my son. The 校董會 member and the headteacher kept on smiling and I was so embarrassed.

It's another 3 or 4 minutes my son left the room and urged us to leave. I do not think my son will be selected but it's a good experince for us.

My impression is that DBS is very good and well disciplined/organised though it may not suit your style.
