I have a daughter who got admitted to St Stephen next year, I always feel that comments on this school or attention from this school has always been on boys. Not so much comments on how girls doing in this school. Any comments or wise words before we have to make up our mind?

My daughter is studying in a traditional girl school in Island East, she is likely to be able to study in the same school. But we want her to be exposed more in a co-ed environment, be more out spoken etc. We are afraid that if she continues to go to the very conservative girl school, she will become a nerd.

You probably think that I have already made up our mind for SSC, and is probably true. I just worry that girls in SSC receive less attention....

How come the HKCEE results in 2010 was so poor (6 subjects 14marks only 41%)that this school become band 2 now ?? I like this school so much, any reasons? Hope the sources is not ture!

其實很多專家在很多不同場合都已經反覆解釋過很多次, Band 1, 2, 3是在升中派位時, 根據成績來分學生的中學派位次序, 只有學生有分Band, 學校從來是沒有Band的!

SSC是直資, SSCPS是私立, 兩者都不須經過升中派位, 就算成績極好又想考免費官津名校, 通常都只會經自行收生, 否則一參加派位就要放棄SSC留位, 而考其他直資中學對方又無從取得學生的Banding資料,

在這情況下, 根本連SSCPS的小學生Banding資料都沒數據, 如何估計SSC內中學生的Banding比例? 所以連坊間時興的"Band1學生百分比"在SSC都很難應用!

我係ssc畢業生，無論學校係band one or two，會考result係點，我覺得呢一間係值得去讀嘅學校。校園咁大，一直注重all round education，我覺得學校生活方面黎講其化學校係無法揾得到。

Totally agreed SSC has one of the best secondary school campus in HK and that's why my kid switched to SSC.

Back to ur q and in the old days, we had a five banding scale and SSC was with band 2. Current system only have three banding and thus SSC was, literally, upgraded to band 1. Yet, it's with lower end, not upper end.

Meanwhile, last year, SSC entry requirements for students from SSCPS major subjects must be 60 (out of 100). This year, the mark has been raised to 65. Apparently, SSC tried to achieve a better academic results but seems to me the effect was far from satisfactory. Some of the girls are doing alright but most (yeap, most) of the boys are horrible.

In 2010, St Stephen's College was Band 2A but after the change of academic systems, it seems the banding of this school was adjusted upwards a bit.

In fact, there are now only Band 1A, 1B, 1C and Band 2A, 2B and 2C nowadays. Somehow, the Education Bureau may have changed the allocation from time to time.
