~ 叫小朋友望校長, 唔好成日望你地 (因為佢地一唔識答問題, 就忍唔住望住你地等你"救命", 但係你地唔好提水呀!)
~ 入到校長室, 小朋友要坐SOFA, 唔好冇腰骨, 唔好UN UN 腳.
~ 有禮貌.
~ 唔識答時唔好就咁話"唔識""唔知", 要試下, 校長唔係要PERFECT ANSWER, 而係有自信.

We received the letter yesterday and submitted the form on the 2nd day, too. However, our interview date is very late: 25 Oct morning ....

Are you really talking about St. Paul Co-ed this year interview? We've just had the interview but not what you are talking about. Candidates were interviewed in the hall which was not accessible by parent.

Thank you. I answered in another topic also, but I can share in here again.

We didn't need to wait for long before my son go inside the hall(Less than 10min. waiting). Then he is inside for 30min. He said he play some toys first , then go to another table for reading. The 3rd part is to see the Headmistress.

He mentions that he has to listen to a story in chinese told by a teacher. Then he has to answer questions related to the story.

Yes, he is an old boy of SPC. But I think interview performance is the most important factor.

I think it is similiar to last year. The headmistress ask my son some questions about his school and his habit . Then she showed him a picture, and ask him some question about the picture.

其實都唔係唔鐘意活潑既小朋友, 而係要d"受控"既小朋友. 我仔同d同學大部份都係outgoing型, 肯express 自已o個d. 靜既都有架, 咁至balance架.

For your information, St. Paul Boys "MAY" move to the new campus in 2011 according to the information of the headmistress on 05/Oct/07. In June, District Council agreed the plan. Most likely, the removal plan should be proposed to Legislative Council in the next legal year.

I do think it will be a real "up-grade"

呢個問題應該係St.Paul Boy收左你的話,仲抽唔抽St.Jo,
若果你決定讀St.Paul Boy的話,你就無得"抽"St.Jo,
但唔包你一定入到St.Jo所以你要決定係咪跟直資隊
若果係DBS類結果都會早過大抽獎第一輪公佈結果

From the students graduated from the two schools, you can see they are in fact quite different. St. Jo quite humble but St Paul more outgoing and expressive. So very much depending on which one suit your kid. Both of them are very good.

The Headmistress only asked simple questions such as what he likes to eat, his name, his school ....... Just let your kid going there to have fun is ok la. No need to be nervous.

It is better for some parents to choose St Pauls and others to choose St. Jo depending on the type of their kids. If the kid is quite, St Paul is a better choice. If the kid is already talkative, then St Jo is better.

Althought there is no 10A students from SPC, there are 7A & 6A students this years.

Frankly, SPC never worry no students to apply...
That is why you must have tme to consider before signing the letter to give up the seat from government school.

Last year, I gave up the seat of a HK East government primary school in round 1 which got 91% band one students and I didn't regret it at all.

For your information, you must be ready to support you son if you want your son has a good academic result because most of the boys are really smart.

Tatama,

As my son was admitted by St. Paul Boys at the very beginning, the result was early than the announcement of the first round result of government school.
I got the letter from SPC on Saturday and the first round result of government was 2 days later (i.e. Monday). However, the registeration date of SPC was the following Saturday morning. That's why you got at least 5-7 days to consider.

I don't know whether you have time to consider or not if you need to enter the second round "lucky draw".

I don't think there is any rule governing the knocking of doors. You can knock at the door of any school any time you want to, even if your boy is studying in SPC, or any other school for that matter.

阿仔上星期已經interview，講真校長問o既問題其實好簡單。
都係你叫咩名, 幾歲, 讀邊間學校, 識寫咩字,平時係屋企做乜？

但最令小朋友分心係因為佢地安排家長坐係門口，直接望主校長同小朋友對話，小朋友好自然就望住家長(尤其係唔識答問題個陣)，同埋小朋友一答完問題又係好自然咁直衝出去搵家長，會忘記要講再見。我個仔當時又係答完後轉身想走，我即時單眼提佢要說再見，好彩佢都未出去門口，所以趕得切講再見。

所以大家係事前都應該要同自己小朋友傾多幾次，等佢地都有心理準備。

Well, I don't think the duration of interview is an issue. My son attended the interview few yrs ago. It lasted for around 5 mins also, and he's accepted in 1st round. So, pls get relaxed.

in 完St Paul Boy後, 對校長有好感, 好欣賞佢d耐性.
有好恨入的感覺, 因為d 校工都對學生好好, d學生好開心. 我見有一班小朋友落樓下攞english newspapers, 有d學生好似一年級, 有d大d, 有個小粒d個學生攞唔到, 實在太重, 個大小小哥哥問佢, 得唔得, 全程在隔離standby 幫佢, 所以d大哥哥幫小d d, 幾好---讚.

我冇考 St Paul Co-edu, 因我唔想太辛苦同理阿仔冇可能考到, 我囡d功課都攪唔掂, 因兩個都要返工.

St Jo 都應該唔收我仔, 因得10 分. 家姊個間學校是女校, 細老冇積so. 但最後都會讀st jo 如果收我, 因全英文, 程度強過st paul (中文). d level 唔深, 因同阿囡間學校比較過, d 考試paper 程度合理同華仁差不多, 唔會考d好難又未見過.

希望你阿仔努力, 要克服nervous 係好難. 其實去st paul int之前, 我都冇同佢practice...因冇用....nervous...咩都唔記得...可以的話, train 下左右...圖的分別.

DBSPD就下星期六...二時左右...去participate 下, 太難入, 但入到又好似唔辛苦, 唔道係唔係.

None of your case is worst than mine. My son was so nervous but still managed to answered all the questions (in addition to the typical name, school, there were questions about how tall is your building, had u ever seen firework, where and when ? What did you do on the National Day (he said hiking in the morning and seeing firework at night) ? How can you get to hiking ?). He was so tensed during the entire Q&A. He was then given clear instructions to talk over the difference between two pictures, one in the left and the other one in the right. Then, my son said :

" there was 2 windows in the castle in the picture on the right and there was 2 windows in the castle in the picture on the left" He then noted that he had read out the "2" wrong and at the same time, the headmistress pointed out both pictures had "2" windows ?? He couldn't help crying right after ....

Yet, the headmistress was so patient and told him to relax and no need to be so nervous; gave him a pcs of tissue, encourage him to "talk" her through another 2 differences which he could still manage to do clearly.

It was his first interview - too nervous. Over the weekend, he then attended Ramondi and St. Stephen - i guess doing OK. The 4th one was St Paul Co-edu and co-incidently he was being arranged in the same session as one of his classmates. After the interview, he told me that he was asked by the teachers in the game room to keep quite as he was reading together with his classmates (and laughing very loud). Later on the two were seperated and asked to sit and wait (can't read anymore), my son said he was very angry and pretended sleeping when he was waiting to see the headmistress.

We will have DBS tommorrow and i don't know what will happen next ?

Have been so upset with all these surprises but feeling a lot better after annoucing this out now.

A lot of absent from work for the parents, absent from school for childs.
A lot of worries waiting for news.
A lot of excitment every time open the mail box.
... and frequently followed with lots of frustruation.

Does it worth it ?

不過可能是因為在等候消息的楷段, 所以大家都有點莫名的感覺: 納悶, 心急, 難受, 奧悔甚至怒氣~是可以理解的o 當然, 若結果是令人滿意的話, 我相信到時你的答案會是正面的; 有時為所愛的人做的事, 都沒有可以衡量的方程式

Definitely not Ramondi which, although is not a bad school overall speaking, but seems do not have any particular area of strength. Tought choice on the remaining two - St Paul Boy has a much better brand name but appears a bit old fashion and local whereas St. Stephen probably will provide a more international outlook (its horizon, language development) for the kid but its reputation for its secondary school, as i understand, is not as good. Also location wise is another consideration. There is also a scarity value for St. Paul Boys as it is more difficult to get in. To be honest, these two were not my target to start with but as my son did not perform well in St. Paul Co-edu and believably DBS as well, i've tuned down my expectation now. Actually, there is still another school i am long for PLK CKY whose interview is coming up next Sat.
I always thought i am quite a easy-go easy come person but it appears that i did care so (or even too much) about my son's schooling. Worst is that it may mainly due to my personal desire, "face" issue, and evidence that my son is superior. I even start hating and blaming myself for all these. To be honest, i'm down, confuse, lost, and frustrated. Happy to hear your view.

Come on, Baby Yui Yui, you have to cheer up. Poor parents nowadays. I know a couple of mums who all have high hope on their sons. After a series of interview game, all seem to look tired and a bit lost. You have to believe in yourself and your son. Don't let the game torture you. Just let it be. It is afterall a matching game. Failure in it only means it's not a perfect match and there's nothing wrong with anyone one of us. Cheer up!!
